I think the Cyanogenmod based off Lollipop must be due out soon too.

It's in testing so hopefully shouldn't be too far away

I was offered an 'upgrade' in November. Then when I went on the website I discovered there was no bonus/benefit to upgrading compared to a new customer. I was annoyed!

Generally you get the same 'bonus', which is a subsidized amount off the price of a handset. Same as a new customer.

But for me, SIMO with my own handset is the way to go.

I see Gavin Duffy was dropped from the Mayo team. That's a pity.

I haven't actually followed it that closely has he actually played for them since leaving Connacht? I know he travelled and trained with them but not sure if he has played a match

Mayo screwed up last year and didn't register him in time to play competitive games so he wasn't eligible until this year's national league.

There was a registration mess up so he wasn't able to play for them last season.

Not sure if they've cleared the paper work this season either.

Something to do with his club is in Galway but he wants to play for a different county than Galway.

It's cleared up and he played a challenge game against Clare but apparently whilst being decent the level of good quality players ahead of him is too much.

Bit of an odd question but could anyone recommend a decent butcher in the D4 area? Moved to Ballsbridge recently, have to find a new local everything.

I'm not sure if there's even a Butcher in Ballsbridge, I think you have to go to Sandymount or Donnybrook for one.

I can think of a few boys in Ballsbridge who've done a fine job of butchering things in the last few weeks .

I quite liked Byrne's in sandymount...usually good but a little pricey.

Yeah it's a touch more expensive than most others but I feel its worth it myself. Usually very good.

I'll be in the US in June and been trying to look up sports I could go watch. However nothing seems to be on in June! Or am I missing something?

    NHL is October to April
    NBA is October to June
    NFL is in Winter

    That leaves MLB.

You can go to a baseball game or an MLS game. The NBA finals are in June but you won't get a ticket to those.

Edit: You could go to an arena football game. Basically indoor American Football. Nowhere near as popular or prestigious but can be entertaining and played in front of decent crowds.

Where in the states is it? Baseball is a great event if you're with people who understand it and you can have a few beers (try to go to an evening game).

Are you there for the summer or just June? The NFL start pre-season games in the first week of August. They can be close to a full house and feature most of the top players.

Just June. Will be in Miami for a weekend and then plan to be in Chicago for about a week, so it would be there that I'd like to go see something. I'm gutted that the NFL starts much later as it's one mainstream American sport I follow/understand.

Baseball in June would be a pretty good atmosphere in most places. Most stadiums are empty during the week but there are decent crowds friday to sunday (they play almost every day in case you didn't know). Crowds are generally relaxed at that point in the season. As for the game itself, it can be a bit tedious. At times pitchers at the mound can feel a bit like Sexton lining up a kick. Look at catcher for hand signal, nod to him, stare down the batter a bit, watch any runners on base that are trying to steal, stare down batter a bit, throw the batter a bad ball to see if he swings at it. Aside from all the breaks and the occasional set of pitches that take forever it's not the worst spectacle so it's decent to watch with a good crowd.

It's all about the beer and hotdogs in the stands.

And also in the better stadiums there's generally a bunch of things going on around the sport. It's very commercial of course but it's a good laugh.

Haven't been to a baseball game but have heard from a few people they can be quite boring and also quite expensive.

I was over there 2 Summers ago and was saying we should take in a Baseball game but was quickly shot down by a few people who'd been to one before and wouldn't go back.

Yeah I was at a baseball game in Toronto a few years back. Very slow and boring I thought. A few lads there tried to get a few chants going and they were promptly told to shut up. Sit quietly and watch the game seemed to be the norm. I'm sure it's different in different cities though.

I go to games in Toronto a lot and have never experienced anything like that, chants are really common at the games I go to there.

I go with guys who are Blue Jays fans and know whats going on which helps a big deal. You can't just turn up and expect to enjoy the baseball though, you have to put in a little effort to work out who is who or you have no hope of getting anything out of the actual game.

As with most American sports it's far better to go to a local bar and watch it. Better atmosphere. I was in SF for the World Series Last year and the bars were hopping. It's funny because SF is so unlike anywhere else in America, very 'liberal' or left orientated, but when the Giants are on even the homeless hippies making radios out of recycled rubbish are greeting people with "go Giants, yeah!".It's funny watching them slip back into the true-to-form Americanisms, buried deep in their psyche.

why are credit card rewards not a thing in Ireland? talking to some american friends of mine over the last week and they talk about how they use credit cards for almost everything (including mortgage) to build up points that they can redeem on hotels, flights etc.

Paying your mortgage by credit Card?
That's a slippery slope to be going down IMHO.

I went with a Blue Jays fan. They were playing the Yankees as well so I figured that'd be one of the better games to go to. Maybe it was just where we were seated.
