Recent visit to the cinema & I get subjected to the trailer for the new 40 Shades of Grey film, coming soon (snigger).
Why did this phenomena just take off the way it did ?.
Do women not realise there's porn on the internet now that caters for all taste ?.
There's even erotic fiction wich could be downloaded discreetly to your e-reader if that was your fancy.

It's like the year is 1982 & women have just discovered their first jazz mag scrunched up in a bush, it's a bit embarrassing really.

Sales of the books rocketed after loads of dyslexic women bought it thinking it was a sales catalogue for M&S

It's cheap porn for women who think that the idea of looking at porn is wrong and would abhor it in their partners. It gives them a chance to explore what they consider to be pretty dark and naughty fantasies.

Its the best thing ever, my ex read them and they always set her mad!
I'd never give out if he wrote a few more!
It gives the ladies ideas :)

What's is baffling is the number of people that appear to be semi-literate enough to buy the book. That and the strange phenomenon that was prevelvant for a couple of years ago whereby threatening to belt seven shades of shoite out of somebody would get you arrested, but adding another 43 however somehow makes them weak at the knees?

Because women have sex on their mind just as much as men, all the time.

Having only managed to read about 50% of it - due to a complete lack of any recognisable literary merit in the book - having thankfully taken it off a friends book shelf rather than paying for it - I am as baffled as the next person as to it's success. There is other fiction and porn catering to those sexual tastes too - likely with much more artistic merits of which this book is on the bottom of the quality scale.

So - similar to Gone Drinking above - the only assumption left to me at this time is the success of this one book in particular has to be down to little more than good marketing. An area of academia of which I am almost entirely ignorant - so perhaps someone better versed in marketing can comment on it. Probably a great case-study for anyone studying in that field.

There's even violent games which could be downloaded discreetly to your phone if that was your fancy.

It's like the year is 1995 & men have just discovered their first video game stuffed under their brother's bed, it's a bit embarrassing really.

You are doing it wrong if she needs films or books.

Never actually heard of a man feigning a headache to get out of sex.

Not unless he's talking about the 2011 documentary about the situation in Israel and Palestine.

The whole 50 shades thing got as many bad reviews as it got good ones but I guess there's no such thing as bad publicity and at the end of the day everyone wanted to know what it was all about.

Bottom line for me is that if you take away the fact that the guy is a billionaire, the majority of women wouldn't put up with his shít.

    TL;DR = Women want money.
