Doesn't matter what it means - Loathsome Offspring, Little One, etc - it's as cringeworthy as all the rest of them

The worst of the acronyms on that site is DP cause the only thing that comes to my mind is sexual.

(think it's Dear Partner or Darling Partner or something like that)
    Acronyms are evil.

Actually, one that's used here from time to time (and I may have even used it myself) is BM for bridesmaid... Except i always think 'bowel movement' for some reason :D

"How many BMs did you have at your wedding?"
    "I had 6."
    "Jesus christ!!"
"Yeah, in retrospect, doing the Allbran diet for the 3 days before the wedding was probably a mistake......"

Worst acronym is definitely STD for save the date.
    Not what that stands for!

    I'm not so sure...

For many of us, they're both something we dread getting and can leave us out of pocket!

All the threads about STDs on wedding forums had me stumped for AGES.

Not everyone has STDs but if you and your partner have them you need to give people plenty of notice. They should be getting the STDs off the couple at least six months before the wedding. This should give them enough time to prepare.

I kinda love the inappropriateness of STD - I use it all the time on another forum where it's normal but then again they call photos of weddings Wedding Porn.

And stock up on medicated ointment! Or maybe they could give that out as favours. :pac:

Again, not something that should be googled at work!

I was talking to the cake guy earlier, he isn't getting them the bike and he invoiced them for the ingredients for the cake, so he's just gifting his talent and time (which is worth a fortune cos his cakes are to die for!) :pac:

i hope he insists on the invoice being paid before he makes the cake, or even buys the ingredients!

I've been looking up childminders on those parenting sites recently ... CM is the acronym used for childminder, however it's also the acronym for cervical mucus (yes, this term is used far more than most people would ever imagine on pregnancy/parenting/marriage forums.) So I always read it as cervical mucus.

"My son loves the CM", "My friend's CM is really nasty", "My kid picked up a bad infection while playing at the CM" etc.

    I'm seriously immature.

Brilliant! Great to hear that people are standing up to them and giving them a run for their money...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,005 ✭✭✭MistyCheese

Definately great to hear that people are not just declining in droves but also letting this couple know exactly why .

As unbelieveable as this all sounds to us sane individuals, the couple in question seem to think their behaviour is completely reasonable. If they were to simply receive masses of 'Non, S'il Vous Plait's to their RSVPs they would be moaning about what 'unreasonable' 'selfish' 'mean' friends they have (had).

    Oh wow, excellent!

This couple are being incredibly foolish. They will lose friends over this and will be known as the moneygrubbing couple forever more.

Exactly! I can't believe how shortsighted they're being. It's like their desire for bikes and cake mixers has overridden any sort of foresight they might have had. They've already had a massive number of declines, and I'd be willing to bet that those who do go, will have a bad taste in their mouths about it, and it might be the last they see of them.
