Funny the royals in the army are always "damn good ones"

As if the kind of people who sign up for the British army are gonna come home and say "na he was sht" about one of their heros.

Interestingly it took the publication of Virginia Giuffre's autobiography to get the ball moving.

Will he ever face justice or be held accountable?

Interesting how they do this given that Andrew still says he's innocent of everything….lapses of judgment, nothing more

In reality, a parliamentary sub-committee was looking into this and Charles wanted to get out ahead of it. If they could hide the nonce in the palace and cover up, they would have undoubtably continued to do so. Make no mistake, this is an act aimed at avoiding ever investigating Andrew's crimes…

It's a cynical move and hopefully this doesn't mean the victims are denied justice forever

How do you jump to that conclusion? Shirley Randy Andy now has less protection than ever- he’s had a red blood transfusion and is now just an ordinary bloke- reducing his protections be it criminal or legal or down right nosey such as parliament

A lot will depend if the US Authorities will look for an extradition order, Andrew will be **** himself he might be somehow be left in a situation like Epstein, not exactly in a prison cell, somewhere else, Andy was always looking for monies and will have been introduced to Epstein's friends with making money in mind.

Little doubt Guiffre was not the only woman/girl Andy got "acquainted" with, the survivors are getting their act together, he must be praying Trump stamps it all out, omerta style.

I recall an anecdote, perhaps on Popbitch, that the personal protection of the Royal Family had codewords for each member, so for example The Queen was Blossom, and Prince Charles was Bluebell, and so on, but Andrew was such an obnoxious character, that his codeword was "****"

“Little doubt Guiffre was not the only woman/girl “

The “stories” have been doing the rounds for many years about his sexual exploits (with women)- but the lid has never been lifted - yes there’s been “associations” with various models and society girls and what not but you see rumours online of 1000s of “conquests”- I can’t see that being kept secret in modern day so I’d be dubious that it’s true.
I would also have thought had there been other “girls”- that they would have come forward since the payoff .

In terms of lawsuits or enquiries or criminal investigations, the Met police enquires on his handing over Virginias social security no to the police protection officer is unlikely to go anywhere in my view-

but money laundering is a definite possibility -the King has made it clear that being royal is not a barrier for the authorities to pursue their enquiries around unlawful behaviour - and we know Mr. Windsors funding of his lifestyle has been quite the mystery now for many decades

It appears Sandringham has a history of where the naughty royals get banished to:

I’d say it’s pretty common though for all of them to ask their security to check out the background of whoever they’re hanging around with.

Also, I’d like to know how much rent the rest of them pay for their various ‘cottages’.

He had multiple 'trade missions' to SE Asia in the early noughties, and there were/are rumours of orgies with up to 40 thai escorts in a Bangkok hotel, god knows what he was up to that was kept under wraps.

I'd say the British public are more than happy now with the king's decision to more or less banish Andrew from any royal association ....it's right he's not getting a royal residence of any kind....the royal family are very important for the UK and king Charles and Camilla are representing the royal family well and William and Kate will be equally as successful.

He's the only one I can think of that came out with his reputation intact. Charles did FA, Edward washed out of RM Commando training.

I'm not here to defend the slimy prick, just to say that he actually was a good helicopter pilot.

They’re only “rumours” until something concrete appears - I’ve no doubt he’ll be “rumoured” to be all sorts before the week is out but doesn’t necessarily mean the stories are true- but his name has been mud for some time now so it’s pretty much open season

Only this morning I saw a small article saying the current Duke of Edinburgh paid full market value for his family pile - can’t remember where I saw it

I don’t disagree that he was a good pilot- but what was the process of getting him to that point would be my question- I would hazard a guess he was treated with kit gloves and supervised with special treatment to ensure he reached his level of proficiency- I also couldn’t see him mucking in and making cups of tea for his fellow comrades- Mr Windsor was never known as an the brightest so I reckon he left a trail or weary instructors behind in his wake, as he scrambled to learn the ropes of the navy

    Combination of Virginia Giuffre's book, the release of Fergie's emails to Epstein calling him a supreme friend (after publicly denouncing him and his crimes a few weeks earlier) and showing he was giving her money, and an email from Andrew to Epstein dated after Andrew said he stopped communicating with Epstein;

"In 2019, Andrew told the BBC’s Newsnight programme that he broke off his friendship with Epstein in December 2010, after the two men were photographed together strolling in New York.

But he wrote to Epstein in the message after the photo was published: “I’m just as concerned for you! Don’t worry about me! It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it. Otherwise keep in close touch and we’ll play some more soon!!!!”

These may have been the straws that broke the camels back, but there was enough there already that Andrew should have been discarded long before. I'd say if Charles had been King at the time of the Newsnight interview, they may have pushed Andrew out at that stage anyway. Instead the Queen continued to protect him, and now Charles & William have had enough that these last few items are enough justification to kick him out.

I hate the British press but sometimes the headlines are good.

Fair answer but Andrew's email came out in January. https://news.sky.com/story/well-play-some-more-soon-emails-believed-to-be-from-prince-andrew-to-epstein-after-he-claimed-to-cut-contact-revealed-13300109

This is the thing, he actually was a talented pilot. As former RAF aircrew myself I have heard direct reports of RN aircrew & instructors being surprised. Especially as he was thought to be a wanker in all other aspects of RN life.

Flying training is mostly "special treatment"; it isn't like square-bashing, you don't have someone screaming in your ear. If someone doesn't have what it takes to be a pilot, no amount of kid gloves will change that.

Again, not here to defend the paedo prince.

Just going by his Wikipedia page, it's quite clear that he was a capable officer:

    • Flying Sea King helicopters off of HMS Invincible during the Falklands War
    • Serving as helicopter pilot/air detachment commander on various Royal Navy frigates after the war
    • Watch officer on HMS Edinburgh
    • Senior aviation officer for NATO's SMG 1 (Standing Maritime Group 1, formerly Standing Naval Forces Atlantic (STANAVFORLANT))
    • CO of HMS Cottesmore (minesweeper)

    That's the highlight reel anyway.

He's clearly a prick, a pervert, and a predator, and as far as I'm concerned, he should have been locked up a long time ago. I'll also admit that any promotions past the rank of Commander were purely ceremonial and not worth the paper they were printed on. However, he quite obviously wasn't incompetent, and didn't ride through his service on his heritage. The fact that Nigel Ward, Britain's premier naval fighter pilot during the Falklands War, spoke highly of him should attest to this, since it takes a lot to get a fighter pilot to speak highly of their rotary wing counterparts. This is all the more true for Ward who's notoriously outspoken and had no problem tearing his superiors a new one!

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

This made me smile. I'm assuming there will be a renaming soon. "Batten Down the Mountbatten Way" perhaps.

Surely its still worth keeping in mind that if any other person got up to what he did they would be going on trial and end up in jail.

Andrew is still a free man, living on a 20k acre estate and still very wealthy no doubt, hardly that much of a punishment surely

I don't think he owns it. Apparently one paper asked for the lease and the detail on rent was redacted. I'd say they were all horrified the the question of how much rent they paid entered the public arena.

I found the article again - apparently it’s the market value lease rent per annum that he had been paying - but even then, there’s doubt over what Edward’s paying now- apparently he got a super dooper lease agreement in 2007 for 150 years for a handful of millions
