I paid particualr attention to Falcao yesterday watching the match. I must say, in LVG's system, our strikers get no service.

Falcao dropped off looking for the ball, struggled to hold it up at times and this was when he was deep in midfeild. At other times he dropped off and the ball wasn't passed to him. He made many runs when other players were at the edge of the box and never got a ball passed through. He seems desperate to make it work but the team isn't set up to supply him or make him a focal point. It must be very frustrating. He did very well to win us the penalty and was then taken off. I feel sorry for him atm.

What I'm getting at is a statement LVG made earlier in the week. "We don't have a 20 a goal season striker. " Its a poor statement because a) we do have, three of them in fact and b) its almost critical of our strikesr when your style of play is not helping them.

Falcao, Rooney and RVP won't bag a lot of goals in this system. No striker would. Thats the problem LVG not our stirkers inability to be 20+ goal a season strikers.

edit: cleaned up the wording. protip: never post on boards right after waking up with a raging hangover

To be fair a striker who can score over 20 goals from the septic way we play would have a case for being greatest striker of all time

The majority of balls he got were long ones up above head height. He never jumped but there was no point. He had Wes Brown coming over the top.

He's the furthest forward so there's no point in him really knocking it on for anyone else.

    He must be very frustrated.

Agree re Falcao, I also kept an eye on him and he was continuously making moves in and out, trying to make angles and looking for any service. And the midfield would shovel it sideways and eventually chip it in at elbow height. Some times he had made a run, then had to check back out and of course then if something came in he wasn't in position to finish. Part of this of course can be put down to wavelength issues. But at the same time it must be crushing for him to run his legs to stumps and watch Valencia shovel it in to Rooney who moves it onto Herrera, who drops it back to Blind. Rinse and repeat

Not a chance we finish above Liverpool, they're streets ahead of us.

Only 5 points off 2nd place if it stays like this good to see us pushing towards where we should be.
Will Pelegrini get the bullet this season? A really good manager at city would make me sad.

What's your basis of that opinion? Would take a draw at Anfield. Would love a late city equaliser here, keep Liverpool at a distance!

Sweet Jesus City have been awful. Typical when you need them to do you a favour!

As bad as city have been this season, I can't see us picking up enough points in the remaining games to overhaul them, in fact I'm not sure I can see us staying in top 4 if a few results don't start going our way

Because I think we have a better team and Liverpool are bottlers

You can only play as well as you're allowed to play. Liverpool have squeezed them to death in the second half.

We each have a biased view on that. Liverpool were good but City were abysmal IMO.

We had a 10 point lead over them at one stage.

    Who are the bottlers again?

That liverpool result means we need to be winning away to Newcastle on Wednesday.

So are Utd out of the top four now? Have Liverpool moved ahead of us?

    Didn't think so.

United just have to worry about their own results and that will take care of the league position.

Rooney back up front and the goals start coming again, RVP injury a blessing because he has been in awful form.
Falcao should have been awarded two penalties not one.
    Januzaj needs to play more.

United can do it and get a top three finish, it doesn't matter what teams do below once we look after our own results and we had the best form for a while there with most points of any teams before the mini slump.

MEN had a stat where United win twice as many matches where Jones doesn't play...Smalling really improved since his brain dead game against City.
United have the players to get a top three.
