As a hurling man first and foremost I think its sad to see how far Offaly have fallen and i for one would dearly like to see them claw their way back to competitive hurling. There is few teams enough hurling competitively so it can only be a good thing for the game.

I would agree with Xenophile in that Sheedy has taken this role because of his overall love of the game. Best of luck to him

Oh dont get me wrong, any county that produces Biffo Cowen, Michael Duignan and Brian Gavin deserve ire!! :p But for the overall good of the game i think the more teams that can hurl at a competitive level, the better

Getting back to the semi final, I really am worried about this game.
There seems to me to be a certain casualness about the build up as if we were seeing it as just a stepping stone to an all ireland final. One thing that worries me is that in a lot of the talk about last years campaign the main talk was about how fantastic the drawn final was and very little was made of the fact that yet again we were horsed out of it and yet again lost a final to kilkenny.
I fear that unless we man up all over the squad, including management, we will once again end up as gallant losers.

Where is this casualness being exhibited?

Have you met many Tipp people who have said we are up against it Sunday week? I haven't.

Or have you met many Tipp people who were raging at the way Kilkenny horsed us out of it in last years replay? I haven't. all the talk was how great the first game was and if only Bubbles had put over the free.

You seem to be confusng what the 'man on the street' is saying with what the only people that matter are thinking, ie the managment and players.

I have spoken to a few of them and to be honest I have noticed a completely different attitude this year, there is a real determination to finish what was started last year and to give EOS the send off he deserves. I think this change of attitude is also evident in the lack of Tipp players appeazring in the media, at times over the past number of years you couldnt pick up a paper without seeing one of our lads sprawled across the sports pages, not so much this year though, just seems to be a much more business like approach.

Who cares what the public think? Most Tipp people I know think we're in for a huge battle and are worried about playing Galway. I've a few outside the county friends and they all fancy Tipp strongly.

Really? Did you not see the Nenagh Guardian? several pages of photos of members of the team and management at a fundraiser at the Galeway races. Not saying they shouldn't be there but I certainly don't see anything different in the teams attitude this year.

McGrath set to feature against Galway and Tipp’s ‘Dyson Hoover’ winning fitness race

Noel McGrath is on the comeback trail and Pádraic Maher should be fit for All-Ireland hurling semi-final against Galway.

NOEL MCGRATH IS on course to feature in Tipperary’s All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final against Galway on Sunday week, 16 August.
The 24-year-old forward underwent surgery on testicular cancer in April and has made significant progress in his recovery since then.
The Loughmore-Castleiney player has lined out for his club recently and is back in full training with the Tipp squad.
And manager Eamon O’Shea stated last night that the 2010 All-Ireland senior medallist is “in the mix” for a place in the team to face the Tribesmen at GAA HQ.
It’s more likely that McGrath will figure from the bench at some stage in proceedings but O’Shea acknowledged that McGrath’s return from illness is a significant boost to the Premier County.
He confirmed: “Noel is progressing well. It’s a serious thing so you just have to wait and see how he goes and what happens.

“He’s been hurling away with us and he has played for his club a couple of times.
“It’s great credit to him in terms of it’s good to get back doing things he likes doing, like any of us.
“I think that’s been the big thing for us, we haven’t been thinking really about the game or competitively or whatever, it may turn out like that hopefully but the big thing was to get him back in an environment where he’s happy. That was the main thing for us. He’s in the mix.”
Defensive bulwark Pádraic Maher, labelled the ‘Dyson Hoover’ by teammate Kieran Bergin, is also on course to be fit in time to face the Westerners.
Maher, 26, damaged the AC joint in his shoulder during the early minutes of the Munster final victory over Waterford but played on for the remainder of the game.

The Thurles Sarsfields clubman left Semple Stadium with his arm in a sling but O’Shea is “hopeful” that his centre back will be fully recovered.
He said: “Pádraic Maher has been injured but we are hopeful he will be okay.
“We’ve had ongoing little minor issues with Michael Cahill and Paddy Stapleton, just little bits and pieces here and there but we’re hopeful that by the middle of next week everybody should be okay.

See thats the problem. Do you think Kilkenny will be satisfied with a Leinster title?

The panel know anything but Liam is a failure but to say they lack a winning attitude is nonsense, pure pub talk.

No but if we lost the Munster final there would be a meltdown in the county. Dammed if we win and dammed if we lose

OK if it's not because of a lack of winning attitude then why are they constantly losing all ireland finals? Are they not good enough?

Its hard to see something when you dont want to see it! The pictures you refer to were taken at a Tippreary County Board funraiser, an annual event, orgainsed by the county board and the Tipperary Supporters club, the players were not there by choice or for a 'day out' they were obliged to be there and had no choice in the matter - it was a great day btw you should have come :).

Our players presence in the national media this year bares absolutely no comparison to previous years or are you disputing this? Eamon O'Shea and Brendan Maher are the only two that have been doing interviews and even at that Brendan has been doing far less than previous captains, its clearly a planed approach.

They lost them because KK won them...

You're definition of 'constant' leaves a lot to be desired, since our return to the top table in 1989 Tipp have contested 9 Senior Hurling All Ireland finals, their record in those nine is 4 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw. Now when one takes into consideration that 3 of those 4 losses were against what is widely regarded as the greatest team to ever play the game, then sir your claim is simply bollo* of the highest order.

So as far as you're concerned everything is Hunky Dory?
BTW a little less of the 'b0II0X' stuff, OK pal.
