Nice car that, I don't get how anyone could go for Cadiz over Pretoria's though but as said it's all personal preference.

I've always loved the Cadizs - just preference as you say!

I think the Lapiz and Cadiz is the classic R combination!

That's a good spec on that R. That seems good money to me at that mileage.

At first I wasn't a fan of Lapiz blue, every R was blue. Then I saw it with Prets and it changed my mind. I'm course the Indium grey is a lovely colour, and I'm a fan of white too.

Also apparently all the European Audi S models are diesel only now?

True and I know Tossy and his car, so was just pulling his leg. His is far from a diesel btw.

A 7.5 R in Tumeric yellow is also very nice.

Does it make sense to buy a Mk6 Golf GTI in 2019?

Looking at this one.. well priced.. but it does look a bit outdated as compared to a Mk7/MK7.5.

Well priced in fairness, not a fan of the Mk6 though, even less of a fan of the spelling in that ad. Comes across as a boy racer type (pure gut feel, no fact behind this).

Looking to buy a golf as my first car.. This is the only one that fits the budget.. Don't want to go over 10grand.. Although would also love to grab a 131 Golf but they're only available in 1.2L engine options.

Went to test drive an R over the weekend. Had it arranged for a certain time. I get to the dealer and one of the salesmen kinda gives me a funny look. It turns out a guy with a similar name and similar car (I had given details for a trade-in) arrived a few minutes earlier so they thought it was me, so he was out on a test drive. I said no bother, I'll just look around etc.

The guy comes back from his test drive, my salesman opened the car for me, so I got to sit in it. He went off to get something and came back a min later with a sold sign - the guy had bought it there and then! So didn't even get a test drive! Had to laugh.

    Did you travel far ?

Maybe it wasn't to be, could be a lemon in hiding. There'll be others.

Nah, only 30 mins, was looking at another car nearby anyway - an i30N. That thing is bonkers.

Wouldn't recommend a GTI as your first car. We all thought we were great drivers when we started off, but in hindsight really were not. Go for the 1.2 imo & then move up.

Interior is a bit dull but the car is serious fun. The noise is unbelievable.

Seller has a 2014 Mk7 GTi for breaking too on dd and the seller appears to be a car dismantler. Eyes wide open would be my advise. Usually if it sounds like a duck and looks like a duck then it's probably a duck...

Does anyone else use the plastic trim beside the accelerator as a second footrest?

The lack of a grippy pattern leads me to believe it wasn't intended as a foot rest, but the position and angle just make it ideal. I miss it when I drive other cars...

Yeah I do, when I'm on a quiet motorway with ACC on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,106 ✭✭✭dar83

You mean this? (Albeit the opposite side to the accelerator :P )

    24ci835.jpg

Handy little upgrade to the original meh looking black standard footrest.

I generally rest my foot on the floor if ACC is on, not even noticed a place beside the accelerator to rest it, must have a look!

Thanks.. Have given up on looking for a decent GTi in my budget..
Would rather go for a 1.2L Polo, keep it stock, use it for a year or so and then upgrade to something bigger..Does 5-6K sound like a good budget for a 1.2L Petrol Polo?.

There are a few 2010-2011 Models on Donedeal for that price that ran about 100,000Kms. Are there any other websites that I look for other than donedeal?
