Nice age to get to! Born before independance, first 50 years of his life he witnessed some amount of events! I hope someone documented his memories at some stage id say he had great stories to tell!

    Who's the new title holder?
It should be announced on the news

If you had read the link in the OP - Co Roscommon retains the distinction of being home to Ireland’s oldest man. Michael Lambert, from Ballintubber, turned 107 last month. The two men, who were born a year and less than 20 miles apart, met for the first time during the summer, when Mr Lambert dropped into Cloverhill to chat about the old days .

Misleading thread title. He's not Ireland's oldest citizen if he's dead

Jesus its just a thread about an old man who passed away at a great age, do we need to be pedantic about the thread title?

Relative of mine made it to 115, used to walk 6 miles a day just to pop into mass.
Some say it was the walking that killed him.

Was noted to be the oldest person in the English speaking world at time.
Lived mostly as a vegetarian and grew all his own greens.
    - So didn't have any pink-slime-burgers or 2.5ghz wifi signals to bother with.

Ireland's oldest man but not oldest person - Margaret O'Connell from Kildare was 109 in February.

The OP is one of those posts you want to thank, but know you can't because of how it looks.

An article about the oldest man in town.

108 years of age when he kicked it.

108 - And what picture does the article throw up to signify this achivement.

A half eaten boiled egg. :(

Apparently it was the water charges what done it

A child born today should live to see 2114 with ease

A 24 year old dog would be ~108 in human years. I guess we're not as evolved as we like to think we are if dogs can outlive us with relative ease.

No, a 24 year old dog, to the dog would be about 3 and a half in human years.

Imagine retiring and still having 4 decades of life ahead of you. No thanks.

Funny. The opposite here, can't believe I have near three decades of work ahead of me.

And my dad spend his last few years work looking forward to retirement , he retired, brought us all out for dinner to celebrate. Then he passed away suddenly six months after retiring.

Without wifi I would estimate that his 115 years felt like about 920.

    I liked this bit :
"...he attributed his longevity to a boiled egg every day, plenty of sugar in his tea and a 23 year old devoted wife."

That's where you have it all wrong. I'm retired and it is the best time of my life. I can do anything I want, when I want. I have zero stress and can enjoy all the great things in life. The more years in retirement the better.
