The Walsh incident should have resulted in a free for Cork and a yellow card for Gleeson.
There was an incident in Kil V Tipp yesterday very similar except the tipp player played the ball and IMO his hurley did not make any contact with the Kil player yet a free was given to Kil and the Tipp player was booked.

So he should be sent off because Waterford got a point out of it??

I don't think that's what he is saying.

It could very easily have been red ( Hurley coming into contact with helmet ) - it wasn't given
......... It should have been yellow as the bare minimum - it wasn't given
..........it should have At The Very Least been a free to Cork - it wasnt given!!

To rub salt into the wounds, Waterford then score a point.

Abysmal job by the ref !!!

Yeah and you saw nothing wrong with the penalties last year Against Limerick, one week later you were up in arms about Farrell being sent off by the same ref.

I think I'll defer to a more believable 'neutral'.

Farrell was sent off by Lyons not Owens last year. That card was subsequently rescinded so I wasn't only one who thought it was wrongly awarded. In that same game, another Kilkenny player, Joe Lyng, was sent off for his hurl contacting a Dublin players helmet from a puck out. I supported that decision at the time even though unlike Walsh, there were no adverse consequences for the player. Your arguments are laughable at this stage with assertions that do not match what actually happened.

If you're on about Michael Breens yellow card I don't think they are similar...Breen's wasn't even a free in my opinion.

@Gleesons was a bad decision as in it should have been a free and maybe a yellow. And Waterford got a point. But that is irrelevant to whether It was a sending off.

Anyway look I Suppose I can't say anything Ive not said, probably wrecking yer heads at this stage.

The same referee i.e. lyons who reffed the Waterford v Limerick game. Plenty of support for the view I share anyway so Im happy enough to leave it at that.

Probably the worst stroke in any match on TV this weekend was John Joe Farrell's late pull on Cathal Barrett followed closely by Padraig Maher's head high tackle on TJ Reid and Donnachada Cody's "pull" a foot over the ball that Lester Ryan got booked incorrectly for.

Your not getting much support in that point of view I'm afraid. Just checked all the main news outlets. All refer to the Walsh incident but none amazingly refer to the 'worst stroke' over the weekend. Oh and it's Donnacha not Donnachada. He hasn't pulled on the black and amber in nearly 8 years.

saw the foul on walsh thought it should be a yellow.only thing that will happen is that very irate mentor who came on the pitch will get his knuckles rapped

I've seen people get injured by accident plenty of times. Didn't see too many wild pulls at all after it to be honest. There was a bit of jostling after the first red and second red and that was it.

No, not what I was saying at all, ShamoBuc covered it perfectly.

Was a bad decision is all. And actually changed the match for the better for Cork IMO: it finally woke Cork up. Few wild pulls down the Blackrock end, nothing dirty, but lads were riled up. Nash dragged a fella to the floor, Cahalane got a few slaps, etc. Nothing serious, but I got the sense the ref had lost control a little.

Colm Spillane has done his cruciate. Terrible luck. Wish him all the best in his recovery.

Donal O'Grady referred to Farrell's swipe two or three times in his comments on TG4 during the game. Barrett and Farrell were jostling from the time Farrell came on. Barrett was on the ground injured for a good while after it and never fully recovered. O'Grady described it as a very late pull and that Farrell was lucky to get away with it. You might want to get someone to translate it from the vernacular for you.

As for Cody, I couldn't care less if it's Donnacha, Donnachada, Diarmuid, Diarmaid or Dermot, no attempts at deflection by yourself will cover up that it was a dirty stroke all day long.

If you're trying to act neutral, you should at least take off the Black and Amber goggles.

Ah Jayzus... the lad can never get a break.

Although he hasn't featured much its still a huge blow to cork. Joyce will be teh FB from herer on in.. no point in tinkering with it. Give him as much games as we can there for him to settle. Cork have had such a bad run of luck with injuries the last few years.

All the best To Colm Spillane on the road to recovery.

Kingston will have to call up somebody else now as back up to Joyce. Most people will prob go with Dennehy from Charleville. any other candidates out there that could be drafted in for back up FB?

Gutted for Spillane. he did well on sat night forcing Shannahan away from goal and to shoot for point on a few occasions.

Doubt Dennehy will be called up as he's going travelling abroad in the sumer... Maybe Colm Barry or Patrick O'Mahony for backup FB

If you want to see deflection you need look no further than your own posts. You’re banging on about things that happened in a Kilkenny match while refusing to engage with the points raised in my initial post. I’m sure the last thing our Cork colleagues want to read about is Kilkenny. If you have concerns about issues that occurred during that Kilkenny/Tipp match, I’d be reasonably confident that you’ll get a response in the appropriate forum(s).

has Colm Barry been starting for the colleges? I don't think he has. Cashman would be worth a call up IMO, he seems to be a wing back more than full tho.

I haven't been on here in 3 days and ye still arguing over referees. Time to move on lads and get over it.

Interesting to read Coopers interview with the examiner. He says cork have no field training done yet just all gym work so far. This gives me some hope that we can improve. Give the rock 4 months to organise a defence and hopefully this extra gym work they are doing will give us a bit of a mean streak we need. There is no doubt we have the hurlers we just need a bit of physicality and heart which seems to be missng.

Have the hurlers for what ?

A bad as we are at the back we still put up big scores. We have forwards that can win us games if we can win enough ball. Harnedy lehane and hoggy would get on any team in the country. We won Munster 2 years ago been in all Ireland 3 things are not that bad. I'm surprised Kingston hasn't changed it up though. It's strange rob o Shea is not on panel he brought passion and another attacking option. Young Kingston and cashman should be given a chance. From under 16 down we are winning everything things will come good again

Certainly not to win an All-Ireland anyway.

Huh? U-16 in what? We aren't winning everything - or anything - in schools.

Cork won every inter county underage competition last year in hurling at both A & B level. Massive achievement, the development squad system run does seem to be working so you'd be hopeful it will filter through to minor/u21 level in the near future

Shur we've been winning U14-u17 tournaments off and on for years and we've seen what comes from it.

Not sure that's strictly accurate from Cooper. They've bern training in Mallow for last 5/6 weeks and most of those sessions have been hurling sessions I understand.
Don't think we're as bad as last two games might have shown but not sure we have enough hurlers to really cut it at the business end of season.
I do think come championship time we will be very well prepared and will be competitive and with a bit of luck a good run is possible.

We've been winning those competitions for ages, it means next to nothing. The Pa O'Callaghan/Micheal Cahalane won the U-16 'All-Ireland' and failed to get to a Munster final two years after. Afaik none of that team is involved with the Cork seniors.

If that is true, then you'd worry about our management as a whole. Either they are incompetent or Cooper is making excuses.

Cadogan banned for 2 matches for shrugging his shoulders.

He still has featured as a sub. So could still be in with a shout for cork.

Two match ban for cads is a joke. He always tries to take the game to the opposition. He'll be a loss v the dubs.

What team would ppl like to see v the dubs? Given that it's a must win we prob won't see much changes. I would like to see Ellis at midfield but with Walsh and Spillane out he prob be CB. Id like Collins to get a shout in goal too.
Can't see Kingston giving much new lads a run tho.
I think he'll go with something like

    Nash
    SON Joyce McDonnell
    Calahane Ellis McLouglin
    kearny Cooper
    Lehane Hogan Cronin
    Leahy O Farrell O Sullivan
