ScrewFix now have an Irish website, there's a few bargains to be had there.Shipping is free on orders over €75.

They have a Hitachi 18V LiOn cordless drill for €99,it's £99 on their UK site.

Use IRELAND10 on checkout for €10 discount on orders over €100

Perhaps pick up 1000 screws to go with the new drill to bring the total to over €100. http://www.ie.screwfix.com/flat-head-carcass-screws-8-x-1-pk1000-fc28d0.html

Ordered some stuff off them last week and on it's way via GLS from the UK at the minute, good prices but like all websites you need to shop around as the odd bit here and there is cheaper elsewhere, got this baby for €135 delivered...

Nice 1, been on the look out for a new drill for round the house, since the last one packed up. With the ireland 1o the hitachi for 89 yoyos will do just fine, thanks OP

Hows the hitachi compared to the dewalt?

The DeWalt has 2 batteries.Other than that there's not much difference. Some swear by one brand over another.

BTW the Stanley Fatmax is a DeWalt rebranded.I picked up one in Argos recently for €150.It was €99 last week.

EDIT: Just noticed that the Hitachi has 2 batteries- that's a great price for that drill.

I have the hitachi for a couple of years, local furniture factory uses them too. Only complaint is the casing of the drill is a little flexible but thats probably and asset when you drop it off the ladder :D

Assuming we're looking at the same one the hitachi has 2 as well, slightly higher rating 1.5ah vs 1.3ah and shorter charge time 40mins vs dewalt 1hr. Ah specs are subject to diddling by manufacturer so there might be nothing in it in the real world.

The DeWalt has only one year warranty.

You will be unable to register it for the 3 years manufacturers warranty.
That is what screwfix customer service told me.

I was considering returning me Argos/Stanley drill from last week and ordering this.

I will stick with the Stanley Fatmax 3 year warranty.

Im delighted to see screwfix now shipping here.

I hope it becomes the tool version of amazon... its badly needed here.

Builders providers around here and even the likes of McQuillan Tools in blanchardstown have always been that good bit more expensive then our UK/NI neighbours on tools/powertools in Ireland.

Origo - who do Stihl and Bosch, tucks o brien - who do Makita and even McQuillan wholesale who do a lot of other brands including Hitachi will now face a decent bit of competition hopefully.
