Christ that's boring. 1st to 4000 recs, 2nd to 6000 revs, third to 6500 and then fifth. Alfas are made to be revved, hence the ****y mpg. 4000 revs plus for the overtake.
When the engine Is warm of course. No bringing it up the rev range until then.

Chrisht almighty all the revving you'll blow the engine in a Toyota not ta mind a Fiat.

Speed kills boy shpeed kills. Forty mile an hour off the shlip road. Nice an safe. Don't mind all the hooterin an blowin from them mad feckers flyin up behind you.

So it would seem more than one person thought I was describing how I drive or how I think everyone should drive? Hope not!

With so many secondhand car scams it's getting to the stage of being very risky to spend 10k or 20k euro on a private sale. I hate looking for secondhand cars always feels like everyone is out to get you and is hiding something.

    Hi all,
    Just a quick quistion.

I downloaded a Voice GPS satnav app on my mobile phone. Is it against the law to use in when the phone is attached to a phone holder? Take note the phone won't ring at all or receive any texts when the sat nav is running.

    Yes.

Feel the exact same. I'll be buying a new car in the next few months and I'm nearly too scared to buy privately with all the horror stories I've been hearing.

Isn't the wording of the law, "Holding the device" ?

Surely hands free kits are good to go

Does that rule extend to the likes of a sat nav or whatever being attached to the windscreen? Or where is the line drawn?

Question for the bimmer heads here (probably not BMW specific actually). Just had my front discs, pads and wear sensor replaced but the brake pad warning light is still on. I checked the rear brakes and see that there's no wear sensors there at all. The rear pads are over 50% so I don't want to change them yet. Can you just lob a new sensor onto the old brake pads to get rid of the warning light?

What car is it dorgasm? In the E9* models, there's a wear sensor on the front passenger side wheel and one on the rear driver side wheel.

Putting in a new sensor will get rid of the light and you don't need a computer or anything to reset it.

Yeah you need new sensors. Pads for your car should've come with them though AFAIK.

I have an E46. I read similar online about the E46, so checked for the rear sensor when I saw the light wasn't turning off. There's no sensor on either side of mine so I assume the previous owner didn't get one put in. The mechanic that dealt with this car before I bought it was blatantly a cowboy going by the list of stupidity I've found with the car.

Just bought a sensor for 8 quid there on ebay.

I had the brakes done in the garage. Wanted to get a brake fluid flush too and didn't fancy doing it myself. I was close to pulling the trigger on a full set of Bosch pads, discs, sensors for a DIY but in the end the extra €130 or so for labour and the fluid flush was worth avoiding the hassle to me.

    Yes.

    Here is one for you.

My last car ( the red one )
Could recieve texts via bluetooth, It could also read them out to me, then ask me to "end" or "Reply"

Supposing I said reply and spoke the reply.

What would happen in that case if I was stopped?

As I understand the law (take that how you like), bluetooth kits that are not physically connected to your phone are totally legal. So if your phone is in a cradle and you swipe the screen to answer a call, that is illegal. If your phone is in the glovebox and you press the answer button on your parrot car kit, that's legal.

I'm sure there were laws introduced last year to stop people texting and using apps etc while driving, but still allowed you to answer calls with car kits, reply to texts with voice commands too. But like I said, that's just my understanding from memory.

    .

Yeah, as MM said - there's sensors on opposite sides front and rear. Once you pop a new rear sensor in, the light should go off either: when you turn the key to position 2 or when you drive a few metres.

Don't do that. A catastrophic failure is inevitable if you tax it for the year.

I'm failing to see how this is a 'sport' as it is not a sportline and is a 2.0 sdi :pac:
