Battery light won't fcuk off on the focus. Comes on randomly, mainly when the lights are on, sometimes could come on all the time for a few days, sometimes won't come on for a week, sometimes only for 20 minutes. Mechanic looked at the alternator today, it's brand new, all connections are fine, battery is new, can't put his finger on it...

Bit of black tape be grand :pac:

I remember a thread a while back with a focus where the light came on when stopped at traffic lights etc. I think the issue with that one was the alternator belt was slipping a certain amount not under the right tension. Although the way your one is coming on with lights etc that sounds like the alternator is fcuked. Just because it looks visually fairly new doesn't mean a whole lot. Are you getting a good 14 volts with a multimeter when the car is idle with the battery under load.

Some people did it apparently. I was looking into getting a stainless steel exhaust from Souhans, but I'm sure my insurance company wouldn't be happy.

I was thinking this also, maybe ring the insurance company and ask them about it, tell them it is still on its factory exhaust system except the backbox was replaced as the original had rusted.

Jeez I never told my insurance company I'd replaced my midbox when it was knackered

I was just checking out brand new Minis, and looks like they got some really cool petrol engines. Normal mini can be gotten with turbo 3 cylinder engine which puts out about 135hp and cooper s comes with 1.6 192hp engine.
Still, prices are a bit steep, no? 28k a start point for cooper s?

I know it's a van so not much interest to most but I still think it's worth telling. I went to a ford dealer with my dad this morning to look at the new transit courier as he is considering getting one. All I can say is what a van. We were looking at the trend model the kind of higher spec one.

Ford sync system for smart phone, auto lights wipers, front fogs, arm rest, over head storage, trip computer, hill hold, aux in and USB port, really cool super bright rear led light in the load area. For a van it has so much. We test drove the 75bhp 1.5 tdci as that all they had. Yet still it wasn't slow effortlessly got to 100kmh without revving it hard just cruised up to it very quiet. Sitting at under 2k revs at 100kmh. So car like really in many ways. Loads of cool features to like it reads your text messages to you. My dad is only really interested in the 95bhp 1.6tdci and id imagine that's a quick little van.

Infairness ford really seem to be getting there act together. Build quality seems so much better. 4 year warranty too which let's face it you'll probably need :pac:

That's pretty decent, I used have occasion to borrow work vans, and was always impressed at the spec of them

    They were fierce comfy too!

I was impressed as sitting in this you'd see no difference between sitting in a new fiesta or focus as a lot of the instruments are the same on them. Really long front window so it kind of felt like you were sitting on the road as visibility was so good.

    I'm not sure they'd care. It's a repair, not a modification.

My aunty got the entry level one this year the basic mini first. Literally as basic as you could get and the standard 1.6 petrol engine. Not quick by any standards and yet I don't know what it is about minis but you can't but smile when your in it. So if a standard one like that is fun to drive I can only imagine what the cooper a is like they are a serious car tbh I actually thought they cost a lot more than 28k tbh.

In comparison to say, an Ibiza cupra its not at all steep, performance costs :)

While we are on subject, its 14 years this weekend since the last classic mini was produced at Longbridge. Can anyone remember how much they were? I think they were about IR£12/13K.

At that time a Punto Sporting was €12k anyway.

A 99 1.4 focus, is there anything to watch out for when looking to buy one ? Any faults etc ?

Is there anything wrong with this ad? I've only got 2 phone calls since I put it up. Neither of them showed up.

Is it taxed? I'd mention in the ad until what month or if its not taxed. Only thing I can see. Maybe take some pictures with less going on in the background.

Ye, good call. I might take better pics today. It's not taxed no. Will stick that in. Not much demand for these it seems. Not sure if I should sell it. It going grand and feck all to be done on it. I just want to get something faster. A mate is selling his 160bhp passat estate. Needs a bit of work though, No NCT on it and needs CV joint and tyres for a start.

On a 15 year old car a model specific buyers guide is not as important as a good look over by someone remotely knowledgeable.

WEEEEEEEEEEEE was the sound emerging from the seriously neglected silver 05 Avensis D4D, brown with cow sh*te and green from lying up, bumped into everything possible in its shabby miserable life, trying to keep the remains of it's power steering pump intact while the fat biddy attempted to parallel park. Humped over the steering wheel like a sack of potatoes with your kellogs cereal bowl haircut, those chicken wings awkwardly shuffling the steering wheel while the car was stationary, car shaking like a neglected dog in the cold rains of late January

BUMP went the front wheel into the kerb. Modern day medieval torture on the track rods and ball joints

PARRRRP went the back wheel as it got squished into the kerb, similar to awkwardly forcing 2 people to kiss at a haus party

FISSSSSSS went the tyre when what I think the valve got caught and puled off

Well done biddy ya silly auld biddy :pac:

I was watching on BBC they took so long to notice what had happened.
I've never seen a f1 car from the modern era so obliterated. I'm shocked to be honest one of the marshals wasn't taken out of it.

Yeah, not a nice morning. Knew something was up when I saw the medical car flying past the safety car, but the commentators had no clue that something was up for a good few minutes. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

He's having brain surgery to try and save his life. It's not going to be a good outcome regardless.

Edit: Safety car should have been out straight away after Sutil crashed!
