I'm no engineer but if a water line is looped surley there is more reserve and a more effective response to a pressure or vacuum drop

No difference in reserve, but yes a looped line was don in the past to help air flow through the machine compensating for having smaller lines than are required.

No difference to a main line if it is sized correctly

Correct. On older machines looped lines were often utilised as historically the cost of larger lines was a prohibitave. e.g. Rather than fit a 2" line fit two 1-1/4" lines looped.
Then some random installers created loops here and there for reasons beyond reason at all other than they thought it would improve the machine, but this was often done before lads would have test equipment or procedures..

So lads which drafting is best?? Lol

Its hard to tell if you are being serious or not :P. However we got a useful question there!! Anyways the main choices for auto drafting are dairymaster, Alfco and fullwood. Dairymasters system costs about 10k, and the other 2 are about 8k. Mahoney will defo disagree ha, but from what I've heard the dairymaster system is the best! Problems I've heard about the alfco are missreads, usually where it will miss a tag and let the cow through. Very annoying if the cow wanders down the field and you only discover it after. The main issue with the fullwood seems to be cows turning around in the drafting pin, and forcing the drafting gate open and clogging up the whole system.

Anyways for my new parlour I'm fairly sure I'll just be rigging up a manual drafting gate similar to what frazz posted up afew pages back, ie a rope operated from the pit. I'll have to leave it 1/2 way down the side of the parlour so will probably need a similar camera/monitor setup as I suggested to GG, unless I have enough room to put in a mirror to see if the cow has walked through!

Better get the power washer out so , wouldnt rule out there could be a few neighbours parlours pictures thrown in.saw a grand simple system today with basically a pivot at the end of the pit which goes up to a couple of long rods which go over the cows head to a gate and moves it back and forth as needed.not a great explanation I know but very simple and works fine

    That's Gea in a nutshell frazzled !!

Reason I asked is I saw a fabulous parlour in Waterford this year. Westfalia. Fantastic fitting job. ACRs auto draft complete with tank and auto wash batch feeding 110k without building.

More money than I'd spend on 2 parlours but well finished
