I suggest Noonan introduces a tax for everytime Joe says 'So to speak' and a caller says 'Ya know'.

€10 should be enough to get the country out of the pits by budget day.

This has been an utterly stupid anomaly in the NCT since it was introduced. Entirely cynical manipulation of the figures, in a successful attempt to get more money in.

The reason why they do this is very simple: if it was 12 months on the spot then people would drive around for 2,3,6,8 10 months with no NCT/DOE until stopped by the Gardai, i.e. try to get as much "free" NCT/DOE as possible.

Look at the way motor tax was done up till last year, very common to do "3 months on, 3 months off", took the gobsh1tes in power years to cop on to this and do something about it.

The NCT/DOE would have been the exact same as the tax if they didn't use this system so fair dues for whoever shut this loophole before it came in.

The caller probably brought the van dirt cheap with no DOE and needing €1500 to fix it up. False economy, but he should try to live and learn instead of blaming the gubbernment and getting on to Joe Duffy about it.

English geezer talking to "Jim" about mortgages. Jim doesn't know what a tracker mortgage is as he paid for his house castle in Clontarf with cash.

Love how Jim used the word "uisce" for water when talking to English geezer.

And if you put your car/van off the road for six months, go for a test and then discover your new cert is backdated for months it wasn't even working - you'll sing a different tune then. I can assure you.
