I noticed the thread you started for this band in 'Rock and Metal' was locked, are you their manager/promoter or something??

No just a fan. Yes I did original make a thread in the Rock/Metal section but was met with allot of negativity and ignorance.

Apparently BABYMETAL weren't "Metal" enough for them.

So I decided to put a thread in the General section. To Inform and provide a forum for discussion on all things Babymetal, Hopefully free from the same negativity that ruined the previous thread.

So...what do you expect when people don't agree with you. A "discussion" if you will.

They're catchy, but you have to admit that there's absolutely no talent. They're mass produced. Like any other pop band out there at the moment.

I would definitely disagree. I feel they are extremely talented. The lead singer, Suzuka Nakamoto is a brilliant vocalist, her voice is so pure and her delivery is outstanding. Especially on her solo songs "Akatzuki and Akumu no Rondo. Her vocal combined with the excellent metal instrumental creates a beautiful combination of music

This is my favourite Babymetal song

    The lyrics are amazing
Here's a translation of what she is singing

    Akumu no Rondo (Nightmare Rondo)

The waned moon has lit up
the insanity rampant in the shade.
    The laughter resounds around.
It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam.

    I can't escape from it.
    It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind.
A nightmare rondo is being repeated.

    The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight.
I can do nothing but run
    through the darkness.
In the woods, in the fountain,
I hide myself holding my breath,
but it's still coming closer to me.
A stagnant voice. An endless night.

    Ah...

If I can no longer get out of here,
won't you show me your figure?
    It flickers slowly
appearing and disappearing in my mind.
A nightmare rondo is being repeated.

    The awakening light
is gone far away out of my sight.
I can do nothing but fall
    into the darkness.

By all means like a band, but your comments are bordering on fanaticism. Your threads are just an advertisement, and any one who has constructive criticism you mute or block their comments.

I think I'll just agree to disagree (I am a metaller, but I do like other styles of music...so don't give me that bullsh*t of "Well, then how are you a metaller!" :pac: )

To be honest you remind me of that character from Perfect Blue!

Some armature video from the first show in Paris Tuesday night, Looks like a amazing show, Live band an everything. BABYMETAL's world tour has begun.

Played a show in Germany tonight,

Mainstage at Sonisphere on Saturday. Huge gig for the band, First time playing to a western metal crowd. Apparently they received a very cool message of support Kirk Hammett of Metallica who they performed with in Tokyo last year.

I'll try, But words can't describe just how awesome the BABYMETAL show was tonight at The Forum, London
From the amazing vocals of Suzuka Nakamoto, The unbelievable instrumental from Takayoshi Ohmura (guitar), Leda (guitar), BOH! (bass) and Aoyama Hideki (drum). To the brilliant vocal, dance and performance art of Yui Mizuno and Moa Kikuchi.

I can't describe it is as a mere metal concert, It was an experience and an event in metal music. 'Too Strong'? 'Not if you were there. It was an indescribable experience, Listening to their album, watching their videos, All pale in comparison this outstanding live show

The best show I have ever seen and probably will ever see for as long as I live. Hands down

I could go to other concerts by other bands after this, But what's the point, Nothing will ever top what we experienced in London tonight form the one and only BABYMETAL!

Man i'm still buzzing from last night. The atmosphere was unreal, People had come for all over Europe for this show, In line I met a group of lovely people who had come from Japan who had stopped off in Paris, Germany and Sonisphere before last nights show.

These girls are extremely talented, No doubt about it. They worked their asses off last night to give is an amazing show, They did every song off the album, one after the other. For 2 hours on stage, they never missed a beat, never dropped a step. Intermitted throughout by face melting guitar/base solos from their outstanding live band

The place was rocking as they returned for the encore, finishing with their 2 best songs to cap of an epic show

I wish mate, If only I could spend time with them. I'm just an average guy from Dublin who loves Babymetal. I can't explain it why, I'm not even sure myself. I just love them. People on here just don't seem to get Babymetal. And thats fine too.
It was a joy to be at The Forum waiting with people from Japan and all over the world who love Babymetal as much as, and in many cases more so than I do.

I really, really don't think that it's just people not getting them. Look, I like Babymetal. I would've gone to the same gig at the drop of a hat had I the money, I'm sure the show was fantastic. The thing is that you're coming across like Robert De Niro in The Fan, and it's just downright weird. In fact, I'm not sure if you're taking the piss with all this or serious as a heart attack. Either way, weird... :o

Unnerving and odd? you say, I don't think so. I just think they are awesome, And having experienced the live show for myself, you can say, I am fanatical about this band.

I'm curious to know, what is your personal opinion of Babymetal? I am a huge fan of theirs, needless to say. But forget my take on them, or anything I've said.

What is your own opinion ? Genuine question

Babymetal would not be my cup of tea. But the actual band is irrelevant, you could be talking about my favourite band in the whole world, and I'd still find your attention towards them to be odd and far too full-on, bordering on creepy. Doesn't appear to be just me thinking that either :P

Anyway, I'm out of this thread. I can't see it being a fruitful endeavour to engage in this discussion any further.

    Can't this be locked?

It's been reiterated from other users that OP's deeply unnerving , and I'll go as far as to call 'borderline obsessive' comments , regarding this band is derailing this thread in to a fan-blog.

    There is no discussion here.

I'd redirect the OP to Wordpress, Blogger, Google Sites or something similar to express his 'appreciation' of babymetal. Even twitter...or facebook.

Only a matter of time. The fan base is growing, Plenty of the people I was in line with before the London gig, had been to Sonisphere and said allot hardcore metalheads who had never heard of Babymetal found themselves doing the moves along to "Headbanger" and "Ijime Dame" by the end of their set.

There was no booing, Nobody said they didn't belong there or that their place was not among the Metal Community. They have had nothing but support from, and have gained the respect of the some of the biggest names in Metal.

They are also introducing fans of J Pop and Japanese culture to Metal music

    Grayditch wrote: »

There's quite a few folks on boards who like Babymetal, myself (begrudgingly) included, but are either put off by the OP's obsessive posting style, or some of the aggressive nay-saying on the other thread. Some folks just want to listen to the music they like and maybe have a chat about it without having to justify whether it's 'metal' enough, or come across borderline obsessive/creepy comments, it's a double-whammy of offputting, so they might look at a thread and go "...eeeh! I'm leaving this one alone!" :/

Thing is, the OP ain't wrong about the musicians behind Babymetal, they are staggeringly talented.

Hell, wanna talk about obsessed? I absolutely ****ing love the guitarist Leda, he's hands down probably my biggest inspiration for playing guitar these days, I've got nearly everything he's done or been involved with, I've got both his guitar DVDs and if I was rich, I'd get his iconic signature guitar in a heartbeat. First knew of him when he played bass in Galneryus and went by the name of Yu-to, and then I heard something about his new band Deluhi (that's the band's name, not his surname like the OP thought) and I was just floored by them, I was an insta-fan and they've remained one of my favourite bands ever since. After Deluhi broke up, Leda went on to do his solo project Undivide with former Deluhi drummer Sujk, and then on Sujk's solo albums where he's supposedly just played on track 7, but you can totally tell he did all the guitars for that album. :D Sorry for the gushing fangirl display. :p

But anyway, the musicians behind Babymetal are indeed an incredibly talented bunch, and I'd even say that they're better than Babymetal. I'm partly sore that Leda doesn't do something else new, because his creativity doesn't quite come through in Babymetal, it's a bit generic. But I don't think he's really got much creative input into the group anywho.

I also recently took a trip to London to see Girugamesh live when they played in the O2 Academy, it was an incredible show, loved every minute of it. So yeah, I get obsessive. It's understandable, having passion for music is awesome. But you can be obsessive and stuff and still engage in a discussion, instead of acting like a spammer, constantly pimping your favourite band, you know? But yeah, I don't think the OP is doing anything wrong either, he's just going about it weird. :o

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,267 ✭✭✭Dublin Red Devil

That Leda lad is unreal. Admittedly I didn't know about him prior to Babymetal or indeed any of the guys. But thanks to Babymetal I have since looked back on allot of their individual work. I was ridiculously close to him on Monday, He fcking shreds that guitar.

Its hard to point out anyone in this group for individual brilliance but I would go with the Bassist BOH! He violates that 6 string bass.
    FNcgjYLa_400x400.jpeg

My praise for Suzuka, Yui and Moa is well known. I think they are awesome
But I also have found mad respect for the quality of everyone involved

I should also point out that the "Skeleton band" is a thing of the past. They were used in Japan at a time when Babymetal had not yet tasted international success.

Since they have blown up with the release of their album and videos went viral online. There was a decision made to upgrade Babymetal and take on the world. Since the ground-breaking 20,000 sell out show at Budokan. Babymetal have been on another level.

Yeah Babymetal have pretty much been embraced by everyone who is anyone in Heavy Metal music. Sonisphere was a huge success

In fact Babymetal had met many of these guys before at festivals in Japan last year. They have had nothing but support from these big names, who they will rock out with again at HEAVY Montreal festival later this summer.

Not really the case, it's selection bias. If you want to see what's actually popular in Japan, the biggest selling album of all time in Japan is Utada Hikaru's First Love. She's one of the biggest selling artists.

However, the biggest selling artist of all time in Japan is B'z:

Pretty boring, eh? Inoffensive, radio-friendly pop rock. Not exactly the sort of craziness people seem to expect from Japan, is it? But stuff like that is popular.

Or we can look at a band that's absolutely huge outside of Japan, who do massive tours world wide, I'd even guess you've probably heard of them, L'Arc En Ciel:

You might look at something like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu and think that's the kind of crazy thing that everyone in Japan listens to, but it's not, her latest album really didn't sell all that well. She's mainly well known overseas, and simply because the above video went viral and got millions of hits, it's the kind of 'crazy weirdness' that people associate with Japan though.

That's not to say the likes of idol groups aren't popular too, they are, but they're far from 'every' pop culture movement from Japan. Japan is pretty damn normal tbh :)

Seeing some concerning news today. According to people at their show last night in LA posting messages on Reddit.

An ambulance (siren on) pulled up the emergency doors at the side of the venue shortly after the show. Crew and even staff surrounded the doors, blocking peoples view of who it was for.
Concert goers asked event staff and were told that someone from the band had passed out after coming off stage but they wouldn't say who exactly.

Hoping today that they are all okay.:(

People reported that it was very hot inside the small venue, maybe one of the girls passed out from exhaustion or heat stroke or something?

More on the incident following the LA show. Apparently it was MoaMetal

Moa Kikuchi (15) who was rushed to a local hospital by LAFD after the show on Sunday night.
Reports say she was not unconscious but feeling very tired and dizzy after the show. Apparently the AC gave out on stage during the performance and they were all exhausted after the show but Moa was the worst affected. The other band members didn't go with her in the ambulance but left by a different exit and followed in a band van.
