The Jorah & Tyrion show will probably take viewers by storm, expecting some creativity in there because the directors seem to be pretty good at double acts.

Thinking more on this - I came up with

    A) Trystane could be merged with Quentyn

    B) if trystane is referred to as "the heir to Dorne", then that still leaves room for Arianne to be cast later (as she was considered by Doran to be future Queen of Westeros, either by marriage or the Dornish master plan).

    C) alternatively it should be noted that in the show when Tyrion proposes the marriage pact he refers to trystane being the youngest child of Doran Martell (therefore still with older siblings).

    D) the press release is wrong - in fact it refers to Tywin having made the marriage pact, which is incorrect - it was Tyrions work.

I expect an awful lot to be left out, as it should be. A lot will prob be changed. As someone who hadn't read the later books and thought '**** how can u leave out stoneheart', now that i've read it i can see why they're saving it. 2 books worth of nothing apart from Jon clearly not dying and if Aegon was all that he would have been way more involved.

Going to need a new Sir Denys Mallister.

    This is very sad

If we're only getting 7 seasons (maybe 8)
I think huge chunks of story and characters are going to be axed wholesale

I think the last 3 seasons will just be a summary of the books released and unreleased
GRRM has told the producers his plans for the books

So I think we're gonna get their version of that story.

I know I'm not saying anything others have not said before but I think it's the only possibility at his stage

With the news that GRRM isn't writing an episode this season, I'm hopeful that we're going to see a new book next year in or around the time season 5 airs. After that though, we can expect the books and show to diverge irrevocably. He'd never finish the 7th before the writing of season 6.

Just reading this in the Irish times today..

    A bit spoilerish..
At Ballintoy, Dothraki tents can be seen in a field in the distance where scenes from season five are being filmed.

    Article can be found here...

The thing that stood out most in the article for me was this:
McComb cultivates an air of informed confidentiality. He refers to Game of Thrones show-runners David Benioff and DB Weiss as “David and Dan” and teases us with on-set trivia and future plot developments. “You only think there are seven kingdoms? Oh. Let’s just say the map is not complete.” “You think [that character] is dead? Interesting.” The seventh book is already written, he says. He has this on good authority.

Either he hasn't a clue about the books or meant 6th not 7th.

I doubt GRRM is a book ahead of schedule.

I'd image its just a bit of bluster on his part. Let the tourists think he's in the know.

Any chance GRRM went ahead and wrote the Final book before finishing the middle book?

I have a feeling he would do absolutely anything to avoid writing the next book, so I wouldn't be that shocked :pac:

Supposedly a church in Croatia is trying to stop them filming Cersei's walk of shame. If they suceed I guess the makers will just have to film it somewhere else, because you can't NOT have that scene

I'm thinking episode 9 or 10. Will Kevan be this season do we think?

This is what happens when you get the Church involved. I reckon they will fight it out and when money goes on the table the Church will bend their knees.

    Not quite.

They've found somewhere else to film it and it will be next month.

Also as you can probably guess from the link below:
Mark Gatiss is back as Tycho Nestoris in season 5

    Another update

most interesting part of the article..
Its last two seasons do not have a release date and will only be filmed once Martin has written his final novels, The Winds Of Winter and A Dream Of Spring.

Say whaaatt? I wonder how the Canberra times got this nugget of information when the overly obsessive GoT/ASoIaF community (myself included) haven't heard a word.

It seems like such a throwaway comment in the article that I'd question the truth in it. The actors will have aged too much that it can't be true.
    Can it??

Probably a poorly informed writer unfamiliar with the show/books, but if it were true I would be so happy.

I don't know how I feel about a 60 year old Kit Harrington portraying Jon Snow or them having to recast all the older actors who'll be dead or senile by then.

Interesting stuff regarding Aryas storyline in Braavos. http://watchersonthewall.com/new-pics-maisie-williams-mark-gatiss-game-thrones-filming/ There are some pretty major deviations from the book so if you really are waiting for TWOW I wouldn't go into the link.

No wonder that chapter was released so. Jeez it seems like they really are accelerating rather than slowing down.

Slightly OT but as a United fan and a J-Law fan I can only hope that the Holy Trinity will be completed with The Winds of Winter getting a release date today too :pac:

Kinda makes sense though. They don't have a season of plot left.

So far he stories have only hinted at what Bran might do through greenseeing, and he's already had a major influence on Theon's story.
He's basically gaining the ability to see anything, past present and perhaps even the future, and influence events too.

As for Arriane - since Myrcella has been cast, I presume we'll be following what happens to her (
    her disfiguring injuries
), and so we'll want to know how that happened, which means not only Arianne but also Ser Arys Oakheart. Unless that storyline gets cut, too?

re Quentyn - surely they'd keep him in the show, if only to show what becomes of him?

After reading the books, I think I'm done with the TV series. I'm not happy with how they've handled the Theon/Reek storyline, for example. In the books GRRM has left him a sort of path back to normality. In the show they've degraded him too much too soon, almost "torture porn" to see.
In the books he loses a few fingers, no more - he's not castrated.

From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch’.

I think its hinted in the books that he is.

The show left no doubt. (GRRM wrote that episode too).

I don't think we need spoilers, as its a book readers thread.

    Post from http://asoiaf.westeros.org/
It's not explicit in the text, but there are several references to Theon not being a man anymore (could also just be simple dehumanizing), Theon's fear of being seen naked (could also be self consciousness due to his bad shape in general), Theon protesting "but I have no ..." when asked to prepare fake Arya, Ramsay tells him to use his mouth instead (could also be intended to continue "... no right") and Theon listing what Ramsay took: x fingers, y toes, and that other thing (could also be an earlobe or whatever, but it does hint at something more important). None of them are conclusive on their own, but together they do paint a coherent picture that something happened down there.

Can you imagine a Back to the Future type ending due to Bran being able to alter events... something along the lines of going back and telling Ned not to go to Kings Landing or something...

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,150 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

I can imagine the fan reaction: outrage.

I can't see it happening tbh. Not after GRRM's comments about "not doing a LOST on it"...

It's very unlikely but you just never know! I had never thought of it before bnt's post above to be honest.

Put it this way. If Bran can alter events why wouldn't he save his family and in turn himself?

I actually think the roles of Arianne and Myrcella will be merged. i.e., seductress Myrcella will drive the tragic Queenmaker plot herself.
Its the most logical reason I can see for recasting an older hotter Myrcella.
