Gorgeous little thing in Greystones yesterday evening

That has just been rebuild from the ground up by 2 MG specialists in Greystones and resprayed by D&W in Wicklow Town. All in it was restored over approximately 6 months.

Fantastic car. I had the pleasure of detailing before it was handed back to the owner last week.

Its a credit to all who were involved - it looked like it had just come fresh from the showroom.

Supervalu Knocklyon this evening, a common classic but still a nice, clean example and have seen it numerous times around the Southside.

Love E30s, had 3 of them back in the day. Some difference in size between one of them and the latest 3 series!

That is stunning, though, only for its a W110, the reg would look even worse!

    ---

I know that exercises a lot of us here, but is it not time to either reverse ZV and make it a suffix or have multiple vintage plates for the State? They're starting to look daft.

And seeing as the rule for a ZV is "30 years old" and not pre-87, it's only gonna get worse as more and more 90s gems make it over here.

Since we've started doing that import plate nonsense on post-87 format ones, we're out of sequences anyway so the iterative consistency has been long lost.

I agree, but in reality, the number of right hand drive imports will slow down drastically with Brexit, unless I'm very much mistaken.

While we shouldn't derail the thread, the number of imports, or where they come from, shouldn't come into it - if a country doesn't allow registration transfers, then the plates allocated to a historic vehicle are more a part of its history than if a reg can be selected/changed anytime.
Irish import reg's (both ZV and year/county) for vehicles before 2011 are a disgrace, and given that modern technology allows for speedy and easily traceable transfers, it's just laziness and apathy that is preventing it happening.

It's a Renault 4CV - I always thought it was a Renault 2 - but no.. I did not know they did a convertible (if that is what it is - a bit like the Citroen 2CV - with a cloth roof)

That was sold in France at the time as "Quatre CV, Quatre porte, Quatre mille franc" - 4HP, 4 door, 4,000 francs - which was a good slogan. It was followed by the Renault 4, which was a four door, front engine, front wheel drive, hatch back - probably the first.

There's a point! The R4 was marketed as an estate car but 'became' a hatchback whereas the R16 was widely acknowledged as the first hatchback 5 years later. Either way Citroen thought of it first with the Citroën 11CV Commerciale which was a Traction Avant but with no rear seats.
