Dortmund have signed a Hummel's replacement

Bayern and Barca will probably be interested

Reading the Juve quotes, they either want to keep him or make him ask for a transfer, so the club can save face.

'He’s one of the main players in this team and we hope to keep him, even though I know that it is often the player that decides their future.'- Marotta

Not exactly an emphatic back off to all clubs either.

cant see them selling to bayern after they got gotze and lewnadowski in the last 2 seasons, with Barca i wonder if they did damage with relations to dortmund over reus,

But overall i cant see Hummels leaving

Getting past UTDs CM problem they need 1 maybe 2 CBs. If they land into next season with Jones Evans and Smalling as the main CBs Aguero, Costa & co will piss all over them.

I like Evans and Jones. Smalling has gone down a lot in my estimation but a tactically aware Jones along with Evans having a consistent partner I think would work well. Jones gets dragged around a lot, a bit like Vidic when he first moved to United but I think Evans is a lot like Ferdinand and could be a good partner to him. Smalling would be an OK 3rd choice but I think his ball control isn't good enough and seems too timid at times. Evans I feel is hugely underrated and as a ball playing CB he has a skill set that's difficult to find.

Also, Aguero, Costa and co. didn't piss over LVG's defense in Brazil if I remember correctly and Evans and Jones are better than any of those Dutch CBs imo. I would like to see someone signed and Jones moulded into the DM everyone's been crying out for though...

First and foremost, Jones needs to stop injuring himself by learning how to protect himself going into a tackle.

Agree, I think Evans has a great chance to feature and do well under Van Gaal.

Costa wasn't fit and Aguero will be much better in the Man City side. If we want to challenge for the title then City's pairing of Mangala and Kompany is the level of CD we need to aim at.

the theory being thrown about for this entire Vidal thing is that he is a "Moyes" transfer and LVG is holding out on Strootmans fitness, before giving the ok to sign him.

Shaw and herrera would have been Moyes work also, so i guess LVG is ok to trust the club, but the Strootman thing here is definitely a potential stumbling block.

I think Shaw and Herrera were bought with the complete consent of LVG - who LVG wants is who he/we will potentially get - I don't think there will ever be an Abramovich situation at the club... the given manager will control club purchases and they will then live or die by that sword.

    AC or Inter??

    If AC....

They may go for Nani if they fail to land Iturbe, they have been heavily linked with him, but I don't think they will get him...

Nani to AC would very much depend on the Iturbe transfer within the next week or so

FYI Iturbe offically signed for AS Roma today. 22m Euro iirc.

They haven't signed him yet, Freiburg confirmed they are in talks to sell Matthias Ginter to Dortmund.

I don't care how good Jones, Smalling, and Evans are or could be, I just know none of them can stay fit and before Christmas we will have Michael Carrick at centre half again for the 4th year running. We need a proper big signing at Centre Half and maybe trust a young fella to step in now and again.

Is that the same Mangala who has played 0 minutes in the PL? We'll see.

I wouldn't be pushed about making a big signing at centre-back, but we definitely need somebody, as you say, because there will be injuries. Same goes for both full-back positions. I think when you factor in the lack of cover, the back four is currently in a weaker state than centre midfield.

I don't think I'd be overly pushed if Janko or Varela came up as RB cover so long as I knew that there would be cover. Blind would be a nice signing for cover as Janmaat would have been. I don't think LVG will leave it like it is though.

Not really. It is their passport and ridiculous transfer fees that come with that that makes you think they are better.

Vlaar/De Vrij were a very solid cb paring 3 years ago already at Feyenoord. De Vrij was 19 at the time and both were very much responsible for Feyenoord finishing 2nd that year.

assuming the Khedira deal goes through, that's 4 supposed top targets of ours have now all transferred in recent weeks for £23million less that what we have paid for Fellaini, Mata, Shaw and Herrera. is it too much to ask that for one summer, our club shows ambitition and goes out and signs 2 or 3 of the top 20 players in the world?

i dont know how anybody can be happy with the way we are doing business, when our rivals are getting strong and stronger than us each summer, yet at the same time we are throwing money around the place at players who are not at the same level as what our rivals are buying.

not too bothered about Khedira, but the other 3 are amongest the best in the world in their positions and when you see these clubs negotiating seriously good prices, yet we cant even bargain with Southampton for an 18 year old unproven left back, it makes you wonder just where the club is going. i guess we will never know if the lack of CL cost us those players/they werent interested in us or we actually were ever in for them, but its a no brainer for us at least to be competitive at the top level and go all out for some top talent like this.

    it really is frustrating.

LVG allegedly donated the £1,000,000 that would have been an agent fee had he used one when negotiating with United, to charity.

Also on the red tops it's saying that some players won't even be given a chance with him and they (sic) will be given 48 hours to leave the club.

I'm picturing him as an Arniesque Terminator giving Ando, Fletch and a load more their marching orders.

Can't wait for the press conference, I wonder which journo he will make shyte of first.

I think I read the agent fees would have been 500-600k. LVG told Utd to donate the money to charity and he would match the figure himself bringing to total donated to about 1m.

    No idea if its true.

Jesus Homer, way to bring down the positivity flowing through the thread. We appoint a successful manager and get some early deals done with more to come, we loosen the purse strings and don't act the cheap skate, we conclude a massive kit deal thats 2.5 time bigger than any other in the world and you're not happy...FFS dude cheer the hell up would you

We all know its not rosy in the garden but a bit of positivity helps..

Now other than fabregas, who are these other two players you believe we could've/should've signed? Kroos?? Was never coming to England if he was leaving Bayern. Who says we didn't him and others? Whats to say they didn't turn us down. We've no right to assume that just because we try for a player they'll sign for us. In most cases they won't. No matter how we try and slice it or dice it Real and Barca are a bigger draw and most foreign players coming to England prefer to go to London, so before you say what we did or didn't do or players we didn't sign take a bit of time to consider some of those factors.
