I rate him too. Would be a solid if unspectacular signing.

Wheres 8 million coming from though? Is he nearly out of contract or something? Seems very low. Esp for a Spurs player.

Yeah you've got the wrong player there. Vermaelen is the Arsenal defender.

8m was what I picked up from a few other threads, but apparently he is out of contract next summer.

Yeah Verm only has a year left on his current contract, plus he hasn't been playing much hence the low price tag.

Heard the rumours about him last summer, paid more attention to him this season. I'll be honest, I didn't see what the fuss was about him.

If Woodward/LVG wants Cavani...it is interesting that he is playing on the left wing for Uruguay.

Not seeing the game tonight, but Cavani being played out of position for his country would be nothing new at all

Am I the only one who always felt what was the big deal with Cavani. I just never rated him that highly. Never will outclass RVP

I am sure you are not alone, there are still people who will try to tell you that Ronaldo isn't all that!

Cavani is a class act for me though, super player. We have no need for him if RVP is fit and firing, but he is a top player imo

Talk of Filpe Luis signing for Chelsea, theyll be phenomenal next season if they get him. Surely that means Shaw Is on the way.

They'll walk the league with Mourinho in charge. The only thing that can stop them is if Costa is a flash in the pan (which I think he might be) or Fabregas isn't as good in CM as he was.

    You're thinking of Vertonghen maybe?

You're right. Conpletely wrong on my behalf.

Would hate to see him at utd.

Thought it looked odd, levy wouldnt get out of bed for eight mill!

Break the bank for Pirlo! His class knows no bounds! Mythical.

Probably only a matter of time before Daley Blind gets a press mention as a United transfer target.

And the winner/loser is the Mirror

he was linked as a target for LVG a few weeks ago in a few papers, Mirror isn't the first sighting of this talk.

Is it any wonder Scholesy retired from playing for England? Rooney being played wide left, sets up a goal - fair enough didn't have a great game outside that - and now is taking all the flak from the media.

Rooney played about as well as he played for Utd this season.

Comes with the territory of being the biggest star in the team not to mention the guy who was Englands great white hope

He's so boring to listen to.

It's like he's trying to talk quietly so he doesn't wake his auld pair up.

He played every well for Utd overall last season all things considered.

Was poor tonight, albeit out of position so I don't think it's a fair comparison.

Pirlo is just a footballing genius but he is 35, ok he could be like Giggs and reach 40, his type of play would suggest he has a few years left.

Rooney was so bad last night.

    Like so bad.

Buy Robben, Sanchez and Pirlo, and be done.

    EVENFLOW

Pirlo can play as long as he wants to because he's Pirlo. His beard is also magnificent.

Let's not start another Rooney debate, we all knew how the match would turn out if Rooney started on the left. Was always going to be England's scapegoat.

I don't get the English media. Gerrard was absolutely awful and Rooney was poor but created a goal yet Rooney is the scapegoat.

Rooney won't get a kick under van Gaal if he can't improve his versatility
