    Date wheel misaligned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭eljono

When I opened the box after taking delivery, the dial was rotated counter-clockwise, so that 12 was at 11. Any sharp movement and the dial would move around.

It must have taken a bad knock during shipment and the pins that hold the dial to the movement snapped.

Thankfully I was able to get it resolved and my money back. Chrono24 were very helpful throughout and the seller was able to claim for the damage via his insurance.

I've agreed a swap via TZ for this one.
User there has the grey version and wants the yellow.
I think I prefer the more subdued grey and I'm happy to trade for it.

Not prying, but did you get a decent price for it?

They seem a bit depressed at the moment.

QQ… do you have an address you use to ship via NI?

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

    Your good self, sir!

Sold for what I advertised at, 750.pounds.. basically what I paid for it locally with price of new battery and postage.. probably underpriced it to be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭Lorddrakul

    That sounds about right.

The older Aerospace models don't seem to be getting the money.

I much prefer that era, myself, before the bling.

I have my Omega Seamaster 300M Ceramic Bezel listed on Adverts if anyone here is in the market. Fantastic watch for the money.

Hate to do this - but seen them for better price even in high street shops not to mention online private ads.
Fantastic watch yes but I'd leave out "for the money" part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭eljono

@prime87 I'm surprised to hear that and I'm wondering if you're comparing like for like. My research shows it's priced pretty fairly. Could you share some examples?

My comment saying that it's a fantastic watch for the money, is in comparison to similarly priced dive watches. COSC movement, great build quality, high end materials.

i think you'd do well to buy one in a retail setting for less than 3400 euro. That would come backed with a warranty etc. I bought one on adverts this time last year in blue which i thought was cheap at the time at 2600. You have the extra clasp and they dont come cheap.. the rubber isnt offical Omega? if it was they are about 400 euro with a buckle but on a sale worth about maybe 200.. they are a great watch.. i always gravitated towards the blue but having seen the black in person recently its very nice.. i find to get a good guide price create a listing on chrono24.. it will generally advise what the last few have sold for. You might do better there anyway but they would take 200 euro nearly from a 4k sale for example in commission and they you have the hassle of posting/courier international

lovely watch and good pricing for adverts considering how low people will go

    The internet isn’t for everyone

I think you got a bargain on the blue one Mick, congrats!

Have you seen a ceramic dial with B&P recently at retail for under €3400? I haven't but I stand to be corrected.

I did indeed check C24. It suggested a selling price of around €3,400. Mine however has the additional Planet Ocean clasp which is worth a few hundred, and it's local, so no shipping and viewers can see it before purchasing. And of course, I added in the adverts tax. Have to allow room for negotiation 🙂

Overall, I think it's in the right ballpark, but I guess the market will decide.

but I guess the market will decide.

That’s the only correct way to get the price .Its always the same though , sellers think it’s cheap and buyers think its expensive.Selling is hard now and I’ve noticed that I’ve never been able to rebuy a similar condition watch at same the price as I’ve sold them.

The way I see it with a tag of 3600 EUR this is trying to make money on a sale & even a cheeky amount - which at the moment isn't working out.

It's unrealistic to compare the watch with chrono prices - which are falling weekly btw and still cheaper than 3600 EUR and are published by dealers where when I get the watch I can take it to have it inspected and if shows the watch needs work I can easily return it.

Found a jeweller there with asking of 3100 EUR and 1 year warranty, 30 days return policy & set of high street shops. That tells me private sell is 2k at best & I'd personally have no interest in fake strap that comes with the watch, if anything that would put me off extremely (no offense).

For cash, adverts.ie type of sale, sold as seen imho this should be at LEAST 30% cheaper than advertised there - if not more.

    But that's my opinion, glws.

Can you share the link to that one for €3100?

I agree with your sentiment in general, but €2k for a ceramic automatic Seamaster full set is way too pessimistic, even in a local private sale here in Ireland. I sold a pre-ceramic quartz (box, no papers) a few days ago for that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,807 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

€2k Jesus Christ do you want it hand delivered at that price 🤣

As a buyer if I think something is overpriced I wouldn’t come along and tell them that I just keep looking

€3400 on adverts is a guide asking price witb advert idiot tax, people never pay the asking price or even close to it

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Check H&T in UK, they have a sale now on for a good couple of weeks with 15, 20% off on everything + negotiable prices.

    https://handt.co.uk/

And before people start saying this is due import fees and what not - we all know that the ticket to London and back is 50 euros so please - in advance - don't do that 👍️

3,125 EUR one there now and that's not with no negotiations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 prime87

So yeah, I understand you might have sold your pre-ceramic quartz for 2k to someone who just read "Omega" on local ads and went for it.

But if you are going to come on a watch forum where majority of people sources watches from all sorts and ask 3600 for it & mention "fantastic watch for the money" - that's a bit rich in my opinion. Again no offense - I don't know the person, just saying facts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 prime87

    Again, that's ok.

But the seller here came on watch forum where again I'd expect people to have on avg a dozen watches in collection and are knowledgeable and careful with their spend - suggesting the same, 3600 EUR and quote "fantastic watch for the money".

That's what got me upset haha

correct me if i am wrong but the cheapest one they have is £2,758 / € 3,250 (without B&P)? and while we are at it London and back is 50? thats disingenuous too. I cant get to the airport from the south side of dublin for less than 70 quid for a start . The planet ocean clasp is a few hundred quids worth as well.

People will make up their own mind but your posts are a little heavy handed i think.

any chance you could post a link to the rubber band? or be interested in selling it on its own…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,788 ✭✭✭eljono

Hi @prime87, sorry to say but your posts give the impression you don't fully understand what you're talking about.

Firstly I've owned the watch for more than 5 years, so it's not like I'm trying to flip it...

You call the price cheeky, then you list a UK example for sale for only €250 less than mine (without the PO clasp) which is liable to customs and shipping fees, or the cost and time to fly to UK...

C24 suggests the sale price to be €3400, so your suggestion of €2k is fantasy. If I find the same watch for €2k, I'm buying it 😂

Last point, a sale is usually a negotiation. Very few people pay asking and Adverts is notorious for chancers throwing out silly offers. Therefore in my experience of selling on the platform, you need to incorporate a negotiation margin. Based on that, the watch condition and how the market is, I don't think my price is as outrageous as you're making it out to be.

@micks_address if I still have it in a months time, happy to give it to you FoC. For now though, I'd like to keep it with the watch in case someone wants it.
