yeah apologies re the spelling - thats them alright.. they are about 1 euro per 100 euro of value. they have a few guidelines like mark your package with a really low value and declare as a 'precision instrument' ive never had to put a claim in so can't speak to their service when something goes wrong but ive used them 5 or 6 times now.

    Hi folks,

Has anyone ever sold something on chrono24 where the buyer uses bank transfer to pay for the item via chrono24's escrow service? I had a buyer buy on Sunday. did the bank transfer to chrono24 but it still hasnt been processed by chrono24 as the item having being paid for. I'm not in any panic but wondering how long the process usually takes?

Usually when ive bought there in the past i pay with card so they process the payment pretty much imediately. I guess with bank transfer there's a bit more faffing round matching account refs etc.

    Thanks,

    Mick

Just wanted to follow up here to say buying from Creation Watches was spot on. Got DHL tracking details within two days, watch arrived in original box with warranty and stamp. Would buy from them again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,740 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Yeah I had to pay customs, but they note that on checkout with an estimate.

The logistics hit a snag for the other half of the proposed swap deal so this is available again should anyone have an interest.

    Hi folks,

I picked this up locally last year. It's a watch and bracelet with instruction book but no box or papers. The bracelet will fit up to 7.5 inch wrist. Latest ref hesalite crystal. Not listing on adverts yet.

It's been worn sparingly and in excellent condition. Id like to translate it's value into something else.

Look for 4k straight sale. I'm not in a rush to sell.

    Thanks for looking,

    Mick

Hi lads, I'm new here but not new to watches. I just noticed that you were discussing the use of Secursus as an option to insure your watches while shipping them to buyers. Please do not, and I repeat, do NOT use Secursus to insure your watches (or anything for that matter). They will absolutely not pay out in the event of you losing a watch. I know because I lost a watch and they refused to pay out. The watch was worth more than €6000, was insured correctly, and they refused to pay out. Do NOT use them. I understand that a lot of you have probably used them and never had to make a claim, but I was the same until I needed them to do their job. Also, as a general rule of thumb, do not use UPS. I've been shipping watches for a while now, and every time I have an issue, it's with them. They're crap at their jobs - that's why they're so cheap. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Instead, use DHL to ship and insure your watches. Yes, it's a little bit more expensive than whoever the cheapest courier will happen to be at the time + Secursus, but DHL's in-house insurance costs the same as Secursus (1% of the declared value), and their shipping is top class. Choose the €5 signed shipping option too for ultimate peace of mind. Yes, it'll probably cost you the guts of €80-€150 just to ship the watch + whatever the insurance is, but believe me, if I could go back in time, I would use them instead of UPS and Secursus. The difference was only about €70, and it would have meant I didn't take a €6000+ haircut.

I'm not going to take any questions about the loss of the watch or what Secursus were like to deal with. I've specifically just made this account to tell you all not to use them, as they will reject any and all claims you make, and their complaints department is a joke. They also refuse to provide legal documents that they are required to provide upon request. Don't say you weren't warned.

what was the basis of them refusing the claim?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48 prime87

I also had good experience with DHL, they basically deliver the next day to EU, but I did not find an option to take insurance with them for the value of >350 eur so just risked it few times.

How did you get a 6000 EUR haircut with UPS? Sounds to me they are the problem and Secursus likely provides payout as long as you choose the shipping service which basically cant go wrong, or when there is a cap to the insurance you can get with the shipping company and their plane crashes down - which aint happening so cant see why use them in the first place.

Secursus don't limit the choice of shipping company. I do wonder about the policy if marking the watch as low value precision instrument. For official records you'd almost expect it would need to declared for customs etc..otherwise they are encouraging tax avoidance.. I've a watch heading to Europe myself and used them so fingers crossed arrives without any hiccups..

Folks, I'm considering letting my Omega 2535.80.00 GMT go. I picked this up via Chrono24 in 2021 after quite a while searching for one.

It's a full set, box and papers, I'll confirm production year when I dig out the papers. In my ownership it's been well looked after including a service via John Donohue and as can be seen from the attached photos a very sympathetic refinishing job undertaken by TZ-UKs Bazza. Some examples of his other work on this thread. I shipped the entire watch over to ensure the finish on head and bracelet matched.

The prices for 2535.80 range from 3 to 4k and I do think mine is amongst the very best available ATM. That said, I'm happy to do a deal here for what I paid in 2021 should a resident of the parish be interested 😉 That's a very fair €3150.

I don't have it listed anywhere else as of yet and I'm not in too much of a rush to sell. If/when I do list elsewhere the asking will be in line with asking for good examples elsewhere.

I've (previously at least) been able to fully insure a watch using MyDHL+, and I didn't have to use euphemisms to describe the package contents. And the door to door service is brilliant.

DHL is brilliant from my own experience but I think there is a limit to the insurance they offer. Dont recall exactly but AFAIR it's well under 10k. Which will be fine for many/most watches but not for the more exclusive pieces.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,277 ✭✭✭✭Eoin

So it looks like watches over 10K can't be sent at all.

I am 99% sure I was able to send a watch fully insured through them with a 9K value a couple of years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,480 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

It's been a bit since I last used them, maybe 5 years or so, but I do remember there being an upper limit at the time. I thought it was even less than 9k. If you pressed me I would have said 6k or 7k so my info must be outdated at least.

I have put my 1971 Datejust up on Chrono24. I made the same mistake with this one as I did before - my eyes are not as sharp as they used to be so I often find it hard to read. It's a beaut though - the hands and indices look gold mostly and not silver. I'll probably put it up o Adverts shortly as well, but if anyone here is interested drop me a line. I bought it from Bulang so it is legit.

Found this watch that I had forgotten I had. Seagull 1963 Panda dial and display caseback. It comes with box and is on a cheapo strap. If anyone wants it for €70, postage included, then let me know.
