I think there is very little between Kerry, Donegal and Mayo.

Kerry beat Donegal where the differece was a mistake by the goal keeper.

am sorry, but i think the entire GAA world knows that Kerry were comfortably better than Donegal in that game.

3 points flattered them and its very naive to say Kerry only won due to a keeper mistake, when the reality is Kerry should and could have won by more.

70% possession in the second half and about a dozen wides says enough to be honest.

and donegal employed a game plan as they were worried about the kerry midfield and justifiably so as they got cleaned out there. that game plan was short kick outs and if you try something 15-20 times in a game, one of them is going to fail and it happened.

yes mayo have to be respected , but you have to allow for some sort of transition period for the new management big ask for anyone to walk in and win an all ireland in there first year , especially with stigma that comes with mayo in all ireland final's

yes if donegal win it i will end up contradicting myself but rory gallagher is more or less carrying on the jim mcguinness torch in which he was part of himself anyway

The reality is Donegal hit the post in the dying seconds which would have taken the game to a replay.

Kerry better on the day deserved to win, Donegal were flat.

    Comfortably better? No chance.

Fwiw I agree with the above assessment. Very little between Kerry, Mayo and ourselves. Donegal put paid to the drivel being spouted about the Dubs, particularly last summer. They're still the ones to beat and ahead of the pack but only just and as proved, are certainly falable.

Dream on. "And but for an out-of-character kick-out that result might have been different", the words of Tomas O'Se only the other day in his article in the Independent.

That's the difference between being gracious and realistic. That's why we all like Thomas.

I'm not sure how many would agree with that being honest.

If Kerry were that much better, then surely they would have scored those wides and used their possession more efficiently to prove they were so much better. They didn't.

But they did prove they were a slightly better team than Donegal.

There is a very clear gap between Dublin, Kerry, Mayo, Donegal, Cork, Monaghan & then everybody underneath. Maybe Monaghan are lucky to make it into that group (I could see Tyrone rattling Monaghan for example). But then in the group underneath, you have very very little between the division 2 teams (which is why division 2 titles do not mean a whole lot - you could almost as easily get relegated as get promoted!)

The fact that there's 6 teams in that top group makes me think football is in a hell of a lot healthier position than is made out if you listen to the whinging on RTE. 6 teams with a variety of styles of play from the four provinces. I think it's great.

Joe Brolly has got to go.He's spent the first 7 or 8 minutes of the Sunday game again moaning about the blanket defence in his boring monotonous voice (a voice quite similar to the priest in the lingerie section in Father Ted).Joe fails to see that the championship so far this year has actually been quite good and we've had 3 excellent televised matches so far (Cavan v Monaghan ,Laois v Kildare and Sligo v Roscommon) and a couple of other decent ones on top of some very good non televised matches.

Nobody wants to listen to someone harping on about the same thing over and over again and depressing the life out of the audience. He'd turn people off watching the programme yet for some reason he is tolerated. Darragh Maloney should have butted in and told him we've heard it all before Joe please talk about today's matches or shut up.

Brolly and Pat hurting the feelings of painters across the country was top class.

Spillane is just abysmal and this coming from a Kerryman.
He is terrible and the only thing he is good for his over-excited ape like actions when he wants to make a point while someone else is talking- he is about to jump out of his seat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 975 ✭✭✭James74

I know it's been mentioned before so apologies for the repetition, but would it feckin' kill Joe to sit up straight on that chair? And agreed about the moaning, thirty seconds after the start of the programme and the moaning about the state of the game had started. Would depress the sh*te out of ye.

Yeah normally I'm not a football fan and that's largely by birth as well as the poor stuff on show, but as a Kilkenny man it pains me to say it but the football has been more entertaining so far this year. It's like Joe and pat are so used to moaning they can do nothing else.

Delighted that the game has shown up Joe Brolly's whinge at the beginning of the show.

i am all ears to hear what the panel will have to say tonight about seeding teams in an A and B championship for the all ireland on today's showing kildare and meath would be classed as weaker counties , to cement that limerick conceded a late goal and 2 points in injury time up in omagh to lose by 9 where in fact the game was fairly close up to the last 5 minuets and proved they were not out of there depth

while i wouldnt be against a two tier championship ( or even 3 like hurling) the A championship is looking fairly bare at the moment , the real problem up in leinster is counties like meath kildare laois offaly and probably wexford aswell have compleatly coped out on underage development and are brining very little through , after dublin won the all ireland in 13" there was all this talk of money and they having the upper hand in terms of financial backing , it dos'nt cost that much to get fit , both kildare and meath were out on there feet with 20 mins to go if not more

Even during an exciting game like Weatmeath-Meath today, they can only say it's a good game if followed by "not like the poor matches we usually see, blanket defenses etc."

4 actually, though 3 would probably be better.

He's going to a bingo caller's convention straight after.

Poor old Paddy O'Rourke, the first ever player to get "trolled" on Twitter. He started re-tweeting loads of them shortly after the final whistle looking for sympathy.

i hope you all feel very bad for making fun of the dickie-bow now :P

By all accounts he has a bit of a history of trolling on Twitter himself. Went goading Diarmuid Connolly after his legal trouble supposedly. Some of what I read today was a bit much, but you can't go looking for sympathy when the same gun gets turned on you.

So much so that Connolly refused to shake his hand last year following a tweet by O'Rourke during the AI Club Final (subsequently deleted) but not before it was widely reported and screen capped at. "Diarmuid Connolly letting loose today before he gets locked up"

I'd have no time for a supposed GAA fan who resorts to trolling players twitter accounts. And certainly players shouldnt be using twitter to have a pop at another county players business off the pitch.

I like the bow tie, and I like the fact that Ó Sé knows it's definitely annoying people.
