iPhone 5s App update - issue.

    I have an iPhone 3 & 5. I use my computer to download updates for the phones and for apps, etc. I then sync the phone and update it via the laptop. Has worked each and every time.

    When i update the iphone 3 the red, boxed, number symbol in/over the app icon disappears. This shows that all apps are done and updated.

    On the iphone 5 though it's a different story. Every time i update the phone the red, boxed, number symbol on the app icon stays. When i go onto itunes, into the phone, and click apps it shows nothing needs updating. All the options show is "Remove". There is no update/install option. Also when i click on the app icon, and click updates it shows all 23 of the apps to be updated with the option to update individually or all at once.

    I cannot update the phone using the phone itself, as i live out in the sticks. No Wi-Fi, and barely a 3G signal. Even if i had a 3G signal the number on the app update is at 23. They range from 5 to 109mb. So not downloading via the phone or it'll cost a fortune/take a lifetime.

    So long story short. The iphone 5 is showing as updated on itunes, however the red, boxed, number still appears over the app icon and in apps update via the app icon. What can i do to clear this.

    Few other bits of info might be helpful/needed. I have the latest version OS for the phone. Just downloaded it the other day (same time i done the apps). I have all restrictions turned off. I have set the itunes/music to allow for cellular data, and auto update.

    Now i'm by no means technically minded so please explain it to me in terms a chimp can follow.
