After about 4 I'm on cloud nine, usually don't have much more.

Lightweight? I think of it as a good thing, only need to spend 25 euro and I'm doing grand :D

It's a 1-10 scale for me, can feel the difference after one, and after 10 I've had too much and reached the top and need to be taken off the hob. 6-7 is the sweet spot within 3 or so hours, then it's a game of chance trying to keep that level in a race against the inverse relationship of time vs being drunk.

    I normally lose :(

Around 2 and I can easily feel the affects of it. I guess I'm quite a light drinker!

    I mostly drink spirits.

I don't need drink to be funny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,812 ✭✭✭thelad95

Depends what I'm drinking. If it's cider or Guinness I'm done after 3. If it's Carlsberg or Budweiser or piss like that I would need at least 7

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,687 ✭✭✭✭Penny Tration

After 4 or 5 beers, I'm tipsy. After 6-7, I'm quite drunk. Any more than that, I'm paralytic.

With wine and spirits, I can handle them a bit better, probably because I'm more used to them.

Depends what is in the pint glass.

Yes. Banjo String just did. I have quoted the post in case you missed it.

In the 1945 film "The Lost Weekend", drunkard Don Birnam (Ray Milland) says "Let me have one, Nat. I'm dying. Just one", to which Nat the Bartender (Howard Da Silva) replies "One drink's too many, and a hundred's not enough".

About 5, by the ten mark I'm usually completely gone ,making sound effects of cash registers and the likes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,303 ✭✭✭Pwindedd

1 pint and I start going. 2 it's getting nice, 3 that's enough. 4 "stupid girl, you know 3 is your limit"

Guinness that is, when gin and tonics are flowing I'm grand up to about drink 8 or 9

1 good big glass of poteen and Jean Byrne on the weather and I'll be quite happy for a while :D

I have no idea really. Some nights I could go out and one or two and I'm anybody's, then another night I could go out, knock back a fair bit, and still resist anybody :D

Seems to be different every time. Last time out I had 8 pints of Guinness and felt pretty much sober. There are other times where I'm giddy as a school girl after two. I must be broken.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,174 ✭✭✭RhubarbCrumble

Three's usually my limit. I think it's more to do with size though. I'm female and about 7 1/2 stone and I know that anymore than three and I'll start feeling a bit funny so anymore's not a good idea.

Where? Name one place in Cork that is 6.50 a pint and name the beer.

I have not come across prices like that anywhere.

You just don't run in the right circles.

    Perhaps I don't!

I cant think of anywhere that would charge more than 5.50 down here, most would be 5 or less. The post I quoted referenced more than one place too.

6.25 for a pint of tiger beer in a place I used to work in wexford. 5.70 for a normal larger and 5.40 for a guiness

He was talking about cork not wexford I assume. Says Cork in his location anyhow.

Those are saucy prices for wexford.

5 and I'm ready to stay out all night and have another 5 or so if it's a good night!

I feel it from the first pint. How much I feel it all depends.

On a full stomach I could have 4 and not feel it so much. But I had 3 yesterday from around 6pm, having not eaten since about Noon, and I 'felt' it as if I'd had 6 or 7.

I made the mistake of going drinking on an empty stomach . 3 cans of Druids and I was pissèd . Lesson learned .

    Funny good=2 pints
    Funny bad= 5 pints onwards

Start to feel "different" after 2, but I've had more than 13/14 on the very odd occasion and pay for it in more than one way in the morning.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,766 ✭✭✭Bongalongherb

I start to feel giddy after about 12 bottles of perlenbacher, anything lower and I don't really feel anything. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,779 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

About 19 pints before I start to feel anything. I usually switch to whiskey after that.

    I'm right hard.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭Talib Fiasco

Typical Irish people, we could pass out on a night out yet we'd still remember everything we drank

Me? I usually drink spirits but if I have to do my drinking in a pub I can easily handle 5 pints. I'd say pint 6 or 7 would be the start of my ending alright.

    None. I'm always bloody hilarious.

    3 pints - funny
    6 pints - wasted
    8 pints - blackout

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,766 ✭✭✭Bongalongherb

I drank 30 pint sized bottles of beer last week and talk about feeling giddy, the hangover almost killed me, so I cut down to 20 bottles instead, see how that goes :)

    I used hyperbole on AH.

    #Shocker

(Most I've seen is 5.80 for Bulmers in a pub in Midleton, can't remember which :P)
