Ah Johnson and Lucas both contributed at different points. I'm not sure that Moses did anything that Ibe couldn't have done for us...

Ibe getting a loan out was done for his benefit.

He could've provided what Moses did but in the long term it's better that he got games.

I'd love if he got a loan to a premier league club next season.

End of seasons ratings, last season in brackets:

Mignolet 7 (N/A) - top shot stopping, vital saves. Dodgy distribution, but that got better. Patchy under crosses. Glued to his line. Plenty to improve upon

Jones 5 (6) - very little to comment on to be honest

Johnson 4 (7) - desperate season. His attacking play has deteriorated so much that he's now a better defender than attacker

Enrique 5 (8) - season has been pretty much a write-off unfortunately, and we have missed him. LB is a problem position though, and we may look to improve on him in the summer

Flanagan 7 (N/A) - Came from nowhere to prove all the doubters (of which I was one) wrong. I'd see him as a valuable squad player going forward. I do think we need better attacking players at both LB and RB but his ability to play both should see him have a good career with us.

Cissokho 6 (N/A) - After a poor start he was solid defensively for us. Offered nothing in attack. I was led to believe he was a marauding, attacking full back. I feel a little cheated.

Skrtel 7 (5) - a rollercoaster season. Some brilliant defensive displays, some absolute howlers (Palace's 3rd goal is a basic a defensive error as you'll see). Some great goals. Some great own goals.

Agger 6 (6) - can't help but being disappointed with him again this year. In and out of the team, up and down displays. I'd sell him if we get a decent offer. Otherwise, he'll be a good squad player imo

Sakho 6 (N/A) - have already said a lot about him in this thread. I like him a lot. Good in the air, good on the ball. A little rash, perhaps, but I'd like to see him as first choice next season

Toure 5 (N/A) - after a great start he was very disappointing. Nonetheless, I'd hang on to him. He is experienced and about as good a 4th choice defender as a club could have

Gerrard 8 (8) - written off at various stages of the season, he has had an immense few months. He has shown greater discipline and tactical awareness than any of us gave him credit for. His free-kicks/corners/penalties have been the best in the league.

Lucas 6 (6) - hit and miss. I'd keep him as a squad player. Great lad to have around, so I'd keep him for as long as he will stay. He is still a good player.

Allen 7 (6) - after he came back from injury he played important parts in some of our best performances and our biggest wins. He is another who may be rotated a lot next season but he will be an important player for us going forward.

Henderson 8 (8) - what an important player he has become for us. Future captain?

Coutinho 8 (9) - after an average few months, he came good when it mattered, at the business end of the season. He's got a lot of heart and does great defensive work for us, as well as being our most creative midfielder. The sky is the limit for him.

Sterling 9 (8) - Best young player in Europe?

Aspas 5 (N/A) - probably gone in the summer. Waste of money in hindsight.

Alberto 5 (N/A) - at least he has time on his side

Moses 4 (N/A) - good goal against Swansea

Sturridge 9 (9) - 21 league goals. And that's really as our 2nd striker. Most of our play goes through his partner. Phenomenal return in fairness

Suarez 10 (10) - he is the best Liverpool player I've ever seen play

Player of the year: Luis Suarez (Runner up: Daniel Sturridge
Young player of the year: Raheem Sterling (Runner up: Phillipe Coutinho)
Most improved: Jon Flanagan (Runner up: Raheem Sterling)
Goal of the Season: Suarez v Norwich (runner up: Suarez v Norwich)
Best performance: Arsenal home (runner up: Spurs away)

Brendan Rodgers 9 (7) - His biggest problem will be living up to the heightened standards and expectations his teams performances will have created. He has been fantastic, full of class, cool temperament, the lot. His handling of Suarez last summer set the tone. Everything that happened this season, happened because of the club's handling of that saga.

Great season. Great football. Just a pity about the Chelsea game. Draw that one and I think we would have won the title.

Lots to look forward too though. Rodgers will have learned a lot. The younger players will have more experience under their belts. We'll have a better quality team and squad next season. I'm positive about that.

    Absolutely fantastic season from Liverpool.

I couldn't be more proud to be a Red, I'm not even upset we didn't win the league I'm just delighted that we're back amongst the European elite.

    #nextyear ;)

Henderson was the only tough one. On the cusp of a 9. I think the red card might have cost him

To be honest the Chelsea game was when I felt worst. Kinda knew it was unlikely after that. Even the Palace game didn't bug me much. City were never slipping up at home after beating Everton.

If this was Chelsea I'd be absolutely gutted, but after witnessing the City fans impeccable behaviour (and their manager who shook every Liverpool players hand after the game) at the Hillsborough 25th anniversary game it softens the blow immensely. Fair play Manchester City ye won it with class and dignity and overall ye deserve it.

Anyone else Fabian Delph be a good CM addition for next season?

Despite coming so close, I don't think we as fans ought to expect another title challenge next season.

It's about maintaining where we are. We've got a toehold in the CL but we could very easily fall out again. First and foremost, for the sake of our medium term future, we have to get CL again next season.
I think we've got a great chance at having another go at the league but our squad and even our first 11 are quite weak so we need to temper the optimism this season has given us a little bit.

We're way ahead of schedule. Now it's about making marginal gains and working on the minutia.
I think FB is probably the least important position - if you take Suarez as an example, he's probably worth 20-30 pts all on his own.
The difference between having 2 good and 2 poor full backs might be only a couple of points. But that's what we have to look at getting now.

Figuring out a way to hang on against some teams or break others down to turn 1 or 2 results in our favour - it's not an easy job. It's probably a harder job to turn this team into title winners than it was to get from 7th to 2nd. But I think Rodgers is well able for it.

I know some people say that City bought the league but they do have some classy, hard working players in fairness and grinded out results when it mattered. Not too many parked buses for them in front of the goal like some other team we know. They played to win and you have to take your hat off to them.

    Next season it is on

Unlucky with the league lads. Nonetheless a great season that all of you would have taken if offered before the start of the season. Just give us Borini back next year (not going to happen I know). :D

Sure Man City spent a lot of money. But they spent money on quality. Played good football. Have a quality squad. Have a gent of a manager.

They deserved it and congratulations to them.

    Look at it this way

Competing with City > Competing with Spurs

    :)

Photo of gerrard slipping photoshopped into any old picture at this stage?

Generic list of players who've won more league titles than gerrard

Insufferable fans etc... posts everywhere about liverpool fans and how they're basically hitler

Andre Wisdom looks to have benefitted from his loan season. Perhaps a viable option at right back?

Sturridge interview from the pitch on LFCTV was interesting. Was absolutely gutted and said so. Apologised to the fans for not winning the league.

looks so composed and knows what he's going to do with the ball, having a great game and getting forward at every opportunity. If I had my way he'd be the back up to a new signing with Johnson out

Its when i saw their team and bench before the game it drove home the staggering depth and expense of the team. They 100% bought the title, and its very frustrating to see them crowned champions but tomorrow they are going to be sanctioned for breaching the FFP rules.

It seems futile to ever think liverpool could challenge that kind of spending but we did so incredibly this season. Its that chelsea game that destroyed the challenge but i rather lose the league on points vs GD.The players will find it hard to move in this season and recreate the form for next but with some strong additions i hope we can continue to push on.
