So the carina's exhaust has just completely **** itself.

There's only one logical thing to do, replace it from the manifold back!!

Save yourself 2 grand and buy mine :D Much better spec to.

Plus yours is DSG, by all accounts miles better than a manual GTI.

No, we won't do this again.

reviews/ owners clubs seem to say DSG is less reliable and it's a nice idea but what you've never had you'l never miss so i don't particularly care.

as usual, trade in to be considered so buying private isn't an option, also want a warranty (particularly on a VW :P) the old mans car this time. now for me.

In fairness, it's not like you can go diffin about in a FWD golf so the auto doesnt matter!

Yeah, but at least you know it would be in good hands (well reasonably). That and the chance to buy it back when it comes to taxing it again for the year :pac:.

    Hi All,

I am thinking of changing my Focus to a Smart Roadster for the summer.
While I know that the 0.7 engine needs an overhaul at around the 60k mark, does anyone have a personal experience of these cars?

For instance, I will mainly use it around Dublin but would it be mad to drive down to Cork/Kerry with it every 1 to 2 months or so?

Here is the one I am considering:

So Nobody has nothing to say about the Smart Roadster?

I wouldn't say so, I thought the engine was more then capable of being driving the car I wouldn't be expecting land speed records but it would certainly be a bit of craic!
Would you look into the Bravia version?

Do you mean the Brabus version?

At 101 bhp with some extras I think can't justify the price difference. Plus adding an extra 20bhp to an already small engine might make it more unreliable.

Anyway, I would plan to sell it in September.

Buy a Cappuccino or a Honda Beat instead.

Have been looking at dash cameras for a while sing I'm doing about 500km per week. Definitely going to order one tomorrow after witnessing a head on collision last week. I was heading east on the M6, and spot an i30 over the wall in the westbound lane. Travelling east... In the overtaking lane...

I could only watch for about 10 seconds and try to flash cars across the wall to try and warn them. I didn't take too long until he eventually hit a new S-Class. Damage was roughly about what you'd expect from a EuroNCAP frontal impact, and everyone lived, but that was about the scariest thing I've ever witnessed on the road. Just shows you can't take your eyes off the road even for a second, even on a motorway!

It's a bit of a spin but try Devoys in Carlow. He's good for low cars/big wheels.

    i had a 2003 roadster 3 years ago.

Great fun to drive, mine had all the extras, leather, auto wipers/lights etc.

My advise is to join http://www.theroadster.net/trc/

    Look at the buyers guide.

the later the car you can get the better.

they all leak but the early ones (like mine) leak worse.

in the end i took the whole interior out, to dry the carpets and sealed the common leaking points and replaced the door and roof rubbers.

main and most expensive leaking point is the wiper tray. the water then leaks onto the SAM unit( ECU) and causes havoc and normally means a new SAM unit or if your lucky you can dry it out.

I loved the car but had to sell it as it was not practical as a daily driver.

mine had both the hard and soft top. hard top is great so try and get one with a hard top.

Feckin stupid turning circle car can't make drive thru w/o reversing :(

My smokey bacon burger meal got me through it though.

Also why do supermacs give seven sachets of salt for 1 large meal ? I only need 1

Quick question about brake pads. Bought an Opel Vectra new in 2010 and have been told today the rear brake pads need to be replaced. The car is just over 4 years old. Is this about right for brake pads wearing out?

At average mileage yes it could be about right.

Smokey bacon burger is probably the best burger from Supermacs.

Drunken ebay strikes again! This time it's a wifi adapter :o

In other news, what a rusty hape of crap I'm dismantling at the moment. I haven't seen such crumbly sh*t on a 99 car in a while

Volvo is gone to car hospital :( My god she's a heavy bitch to steer without power steering!

Needs a new alternator pulley and belt. Hopefully thats all she needs. If anyone spots a pulley and belt on the M20 its mine :pac:

Should have her back tomorrow afternoon. Just in time for a busy long weekend in Galway :D

Started my summer job. Delighted to have gotten a job as it seems very hard to get summer jobs. Same place as last year so happy out. So ill probably get the golfs rear boot fixed by end of the summer although not mad about spending that amount on body work but it does annoy me so hard to know what to do.

The early ones were worse alright.

But the good news is most of them now are over or close to 10 years old so any roadster that was half taken care of would have has all the leaks sorted by now

Just like the Government they have to use up all the salt they have regardless of if its needed or not.:)

Has anyone seen the opel ad with Claudia Schiffer going on about Astras not breaking down.

    http://youtu.be/qPbaUhslhPg
    "Its a German"

Jesus, they've hit a new low. They should just stick to making exploding cars.

Its hardly like she has great taste in cars, or any brand loyalty
