Coolant drain block is leaking on the 900 :( what to do what to do.... torqued down properly and it's only a drip, but a steady drip, and its an absolute bastard to get in at, I'm afraid if I over tighten it it'l rupture and coolant all over the place then :(

    Any suggestions?

I had a similar issue on the carina.
Turned out I'd forgotten the washer.

I decided to start a build thread over in the Build and project section, most stuff you guys already know but I can update it whenever I do more to the car.

    Good thread :)
A great example of how a combination of minor DIY mods can really improve the look of the car.
And it was a sweet machine to begin with, having seen it in midway.

There is/was an artic lorry ablaze on the N2 this evening as I was heading into Rathoath this evening. Passed it again on the opposite side a half hour later and the Guards and motorway services had lane 1 closed. Traffic is backed up for a good bit. Driver looked alright anyway, he was out taking pictures as I passed the first time and another truck had stopped.

The service reminder on cars is a great idea. First car I've had it on at least you don't have to be constantly keeping track of when it's due. Pinged up yesterday service in 1000 km and then counts down just when you start the car. The little things make all the difference really :)

Does it clear its self say for example if you do your own services or do you need to plug a fault reader in to clear the light?

No all you do is once you've serviced it you just turn on the ignition and hold the min button which is just under the clocks for about 10-15 seconds and service in 15,000k km will flash up on the computer and that's it then it will count down from 15k km. You can also check how long till the next service at anytime by holding the trip reset button for a few seconds and it will come up on the trip computer screen and it will come up "service in xxxx km". I think the only thing you'd need the likes of vag com/ fault reader for is if you wanted to change the interval to variable or from 15k km to 10k km

I've a sticker on the windscreen that tells me when the next service is due. Just as useful really and it doesn't "bong" at you every time you start the car! They do help people who haven't got a clue service their car on time though. People like my mother!!!

I know on some cars it is a very annoying but not to bad on the golf. We had a Megane a few years ago and my god when it was due a service would you know about it :pac: start the car loud beep service now flashing. Drive down the road beep service now flashing on the screen literally every few miles. It made the car nearly undriveably it would wreck your head.

With the golf start it "please fasten seat belt" comes up on the screen as it does everytime no noises. You fasten your seat belt then a slight chime more so that a loud beep and you get the service in message it only counts down like that when you get to about 1400 km you'll never see the message if it's longer than that to the next service. Then after a few seconds the screen goes back to normal trip menu and it won't tell you again until next time you start it. Not exactly an important feature as you said you can have sticker or just remember when it's due. But I still see it as a benefit having it same with the blown bulb warning sure you could check the lights every week but this way you don't have to.

That focus of mine is such a frugal thing! Done 70 miles and the fuel pin barely even moved.

Being a Focus it could be a faulty instrument cluster to be fair :)

Does anyone own a pre-LCI E90 325i Manual? What's the real world MPG on these? Any better than the 30 mpg average I get on my 320ci automatic?

Welp, I did near enough a hundred kilometres and used less than a quarter of a tank.

Which is a lot better than what it used to do because I got the new coils. They'll pay for themselves at this rate.

By the way, thanks to those who gave advice recently on my dad's Octavia. The new coil did the job. I couldnt get the engine cover off (:o) so his mechanic did it. Total cost 40 quid. Tis running smooth again. :)
