I'd say new to him because there was no such thing as a New new glanza 3 years ago :P

What brand of coilovers ? If the are fk, Jom or similar ask him if he has the original suspension, otherwise walk away IMO. Any car on sh|t coilovers and 19" wheels is going to be a nightmare as a daily driver no matter what height you set them too.

Well Audi Man contacted me today and said he was talking with his missus and they reckoned a 1.8 petrol wasn't financially sensible for them, so he wanted to back out (which is a little annoying, considering it was him who contacted me in the first place).

I'm not really sure if there'd have been much in the difference fuel-cost-wise between the two (unless you do a lot of motorway/constant speed driving)?

That said, I'm not upset or saddened. I was kind of taking the car because it was there, rather than because I actually wanted it.

I bought the petrol Rav cos I know it's reliable (timing chain VS belt being a big pro point to me). Everyone I mentioned it to (including 2 mechanics) gave me an 'are you mad' look when I mentioned the swap, so maybe I've dodged a bullet and I don't realise it.

I do like the look of his car though, I will admit. Not sure why (could be the colour or wheels or such) but it's a nice car.

Hopefully he'll not have much difficulty shifting it (hopefully I won't have much difficulty shifting mine either, though if mine's not gone by August, cos I know there's nothing wrong with it, I'm just gonna tax it and keep it for another year).

So, thank you to everyone for the help and assistance with the Audi. But it wasn't to be :)

I'm still really surprised whenever I see a 2004+ Skoda Octavia Mk1, I saw a 2009 one today, I mean the Mk2.5 was released at that point!

About the budget shocks/coilovers. You just made me go back and make sure I had actually quoted the post I was referring to. :D

That plate almost looks like it belongs on Suzuki Alto.

The Glanza was involved in an accident and got written off, therefore it became available again and it got assigned to a Suzuki Alto. :pac:

I've ordered new powerflex bushings for my lower wishbones.
I've read a lot about them, here's hoping they are as good as people claim!

they were called the tour when sold alongside the Mk 2 Octavia - that's all I know about them.

Chap here locally has an 06 Mk 1 Octavia - but the thing im wondering - is - what engine was in them - 1.9 PD 105 ps????

    He suggested I get them;)

(I think he's sick of listening to me whinging about scratchy wearing the inside of her front tyres)

I got it tracked the other day and the camber is off, there is no adjustment so I hope these do the trick.

Yep same engine as the the mk2 1.9tdi pd well in the latter reg mk1s anyway afaik. As some of the earlier mk1s were 90bhp and it think 110 bhp. The latest mk1 I seen was 2009 at that stage the facelift mk2 was on sale it was a mad set up to be still selling them.

Yep, you could get both at the start and then just then 110 towards the very end of the tours. To be honest a late 110 wouldn't be a bad buy. Some had air con and would be a decent hack and they don't feel all that old to travel in.

They must have been a lot cheaper thought than the mk2 to encourage people to buy them specially when they weren't really advertised either well towards the end anyway. Must have been a case that anyone who wanted one would just enquire about them in the dealer. Great car for people who just wanted no hardship and not to many gadgets to go wrong. Nice to drive to. Although without doubt the mk2 did look more modern.
