    OKC doing something!
Free agent Grant Jerrett has reached agreement on a multi-year contract to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, a league source told RealGM.

Jerrett, a 6-foot-10 forward, played for the Thunder’s D-League team – the Tulsa 66ers – last season and had been a development priority for the organization. The Thunder declined the 2014-15 team option on Jerrett, opting to make him a restricted free agent. Both sides came to terms on Monday afternoon.

Jerrett averaged 15.3 points and 6.1 rebounds in 27 games for Tulsa. An ankle injury in early July prevented him from playing in the NBA Summer League.

After one season at the University of Arizona, Jerrett, 21, declared into the NBA Draft and went to the Portland Trail Blazers with the 40th overall selection.
    Via Shams Charania/RealGM

College basketball nut mate of mine on him -
Jerrett is a 3pt specialist. A stretch 4. Basically a Ryan Anderson clone from a skillset standpoint. Coming out of HS he was one of the top guys all of the teams were courting but he went to Arizona who had a stacked frontline and he didn't play much but declared for the draft anyways.

    Sounds promising.

    ___

Oh, and stick with the Thunder. Stephen A. Smith said contacts close to KD have said if he were leave OKC in 2016, it'd be Washington he'd want to return to. Somewhere here called it :P Durant, Beal and Wall as a Big 3? Not bad, not bad at all.

@WojYahooNBA: Kris Humphries has agreed to a three-year, $13M deal with Washington, league source tells Yahoo Sports. Team option on third year.

    Decent bench pick up.

Asik to New Orelans as part of the 3 team deal as well.

Rubio reportedly looking for a 5 year max deal from Minny... surely they won't give him it..

@ESPNSteinLine: Dirk Nowitzki took bigger pay cut than previously thought. Deal is for three yrs, $25 mil.

    That's pretty incredible value.

    edit - wow!
@ESPNSteinLine Rockets AND Lakers called w/max offers for Nowitzki, but he rebuffed all outside interest to stay w/DAL.

They better not, and I say that as a Rubio fan. Until he learns to shoot, asking for the max deal is taking the piss.

It would be great to see the Mavs make at least a decent go at winning another ring (for Dirk). Of course he has more money than all of us combined will make over our lifetimes, but as as you say, he offers incredible value at that price. Such a loyal guy in an ever increasingly less so world.

Felton/Ellis/Parsons/Dirk/Chandler for next season is pretty good.

D Wade signs back with the Heat, 2 yr deal worth around $34 mil (about $5 mil less than what he opted out of)

I saw ESPN cite the $5m figure too, but would it not be about $8m less as he opted-out of $42m/2, didn't he? Maybe it's to do with incentives or some such.

I'm hoping and praying Rubio won't get a deal near that he is only worth half it if even. How many better or as good PG in the league is there? 10? I know having a guy that can control your offence is great but when he cant hit open jumpers...

As for the Dirk deal, to put it into perspective Kobe will almost make what Dirk will make over 3 years this year.

Boozer informed he will be amnestied today, per Woj. Lots of speculation he ends up in Miami. I'm not sure how realistic that is, but it would be very strange seeing him and Deng in Heat uniforms and also very funny too watching the Heat fans cheer for players a lot of them were adamant weren't good enough when they were playing for the Bulls. :pac: My favourite Boozer moment:

Mike Miller signs for the Cavs $5.5m/2 and he rejected better offers from Houston and Denver per ESPN. The man looks like he can't even walk any more, yet shot 45% from 3 last season. Crazy.

LeBron gets one of his mates anyway in 'OKC Killer' (my nickname for him) Mike Miller.
Report: Mike Miller will sign a 2-year $5.5M deal with the Cavaliers.

"shit don't come with trophies" is a good summary of the latest Melo contract alright.

Simmons had a good column on him yesterday:
    No Escape From New York

They might. They stupidly banked on him rather than Love last time around and gave Love the shorter contract, hence why he's on the market now. I said at the time on here it would come back to haunt them - and I say that as an admirer of his game.

Thing is though, if/when they lose Love, he would arguably be their most important player (important, not best in a stats way etc.) so what do they do? Guess we wait and see what they get for Love first.

I've posted many times about my feelings on Melo and received some criticism on here for that. The Chicago/NY decision summed it up for me. He took the money and ran when he had a chance to compete - and I say this as someone who didn't think he was a good fit for Chicago. And I know some people will say he was right to take the money and earn what he can but the truth is he has through contracts and endorsements etc. already amassed more money that he could ever spend so if it really is about the love of the game/legacy etc., why wouldn't you want to at least have a shot at winning? In one way I'd have liked him to go to Chicago as if he did and he changed his game accordingly and they won or at least contended he'd silence the haters.

I've said before he's a supremely talented individual, but not one that makes his teammates better and not a guy to build your team around.

Right now the only realistic way Melo gets a ring is in 10 years by being a bench warmer on a contender playing 2 minutes a game...if that. A la Juwan Howard.

    I await the onslaught......;)

The Hornets got a great deal. Offered $15m for Hayward and got Lance for $9m (who is a similar calibre), with a team-option in year 3 if things don't work out. Interested to see if Stephenson has the DJ Augustin effect....significantly improving after leaving the Pacers crappy offensive system (partly why I didn't mind the Bulls taking a chance on him).

This is good, Nate Silver on the Melo deal:
Carmelo Anthony’s Contract Could Doom the Knicks to Mediocrity

Silver knows what he's talking about, he designed the PECOTA system for player-projection in baseball.

It articulates something I suspected, that Melo staying with the Knicks is kind of a lose-lose for the Bulls & Knicks. Because his best two years will be the next 2, when the Knicks won't be in a position to compete. After that, he projects to be on the decline (while his salary continues to go up).

I have to say, I'm a bit annoyed about losing Lance like this. I feel he was disrespected by the Pacers organization. Hornets got a great deal. I fear the Pacers will regret this down the line.

Now we need to close a deal to get Dragic from Phoenix, Moving Hibbert in the process.

There's nothing wrong with initially being selfish and testing the market. Hibbert/West/PG/Hill all got paid, so Lance had every right to do the same. The problem is when stupidity enters the picture. Feeling "disrespected" when the Pacers offer you the best deal and then taking something clearly worse is definitely pretty stupid. It's a point scored for all of the people who warned that there are red flags to Lance.

I absolutely hate that we are losing his talent because I wanted to see him and PG grow together, but I certainly can't be mad at the front office or ownership here. Lance's camp was clearly pretty irrational here. Oh well, we'll still be right in the thick of things and I'll always trust the Pacers front office. Like I said, the one good thing about this is we'll find out just how big of a nuisance Lance was last year. If he was the problem that he was hyped up to be, then there are no excuses for players like Hibbert and Hill next season.

Lance left guaranteed money on the table in year 3 for about $2M now, all without being free to participate in the New TV Deal Sweepstakes.

I wouldn't have believed it before, but either Lance was really upset at the Pacers or his agent is a certified moron.

Lance laughed at the Pacer's offer and turned it down to only find out his market was nothing near what he expected it to be. Lance likes to learn things the hard way. Not only is Charlotte a worse team, it's a horrible fit for him. Lance and Kemba Walker are going to need 5 basketballs. Outside of that he doesn't clash with the other starters. Just a really bad backcourt duo.
