Here's my keys. I used to have a load of keys and loyalty cards but
I've stripped it way back too annoying having a load of things hanging out of the dash.

I think that looks quite well to be honest. I always have a fondness for SUVs/Jeeps, etc. and I quite like the look of that Sportage. Wheels are class, too.

Interior is nicer than I anticipated. It looks a bit more polished off or refined or something than I'd have expected for some reason. I am very fond of it (leather interior, too, from the looks of it?! :D ).

Personally speaking, I'd much rather spend my time in that than an Astra (or Mini) if I was being honest. :)

TBH, finding the Sportage very comfortable and relaxing to drive. Don't feel the bumpy roads as much as well. Still miss the overtaking power of the OPC.
Might get a tuning box and an after market SatNav/DvD player for the Sportage.

This would've done the job nicely :D

My dad has one like that for his Espace. I don't like it, it's not even a key. :o

Key card then :pac: ultimately a key as without it your not starting or opening the car so same purpose. I'd prefer a flip key myself but I'd then prefer the card to a normal key that not flip. I suppose it doesn't make much difference either way.

There's a key inside it though.

It's a head turner alright. Especially that Arden Blue paint. Still not a squeak from the interior trim since brand new. The only major fault was a new gearbox, a well known fault of the Astra OPC. Thank goodness it was still under warranty. Other minor fault was the rear hatch lock jammed and needed a new replacement and one of the keyless entry/start key fob decided to die on me while i was in Dublin. Had the spare key send up to me the next day.
Overall a very enjoyable experience and the torque steer isn't as bad as J Clarkeson led you to believe.

Your right there is. Although I struggle to see what the key is used for and there are no locks on the doors that take a key.

Well yeah, but then you have to take it out of the card and remove the plastic cover on the door handle to unlock it. There's no workaround the push to start thing though. :P

There should be a lock on the passenger side door handle, behind a plastic cover. It's for when the battery goes flat.

Look on the underside of the door handle..

On the Espace, there is a little cover to the left of the handle that comes off, and you can put the key in there.

Ah ok there may well be a cover I never noticed. I hopefully won't have to use it anyway could be into issues with the alarm if the battery was to go flat although I think it has its own battery too.

Ah you had the 08 one with keyless go? I like the piano black dash they put in them. 2 of my mates have blue OPCs alright and I never pass an opportunity to drive one of them, the pulling power they have is savage :D One was bough with a gearbox and an engine mount that needed doing, apart from that its running perfect after 9 years and 100k miles!
Can get a bit wild in the wet but a decent handling car other then that. They make a lovely noise in the Jack Lynch tunnel here in cork too... so Im told :P Wouldnt pay much heed to the drivel that comes out of Clarksons moth about them, Im sure you could get a lot of cars to torque steer if you gun it from a standstill with no hands on the wheel

Did you trade yours in or sell it privately?

... 10 years later you finally need to use it and it's siezed! The whole barrell just spins about on my mams megane II. Maybe why they put them underneath the handle now. A spray of grease and a turn every year or so would be no harm anyway.

Yup and bought a 2.0T Volvo S60 that literally broke my heart (Would have kept it and saved for something vintage) but it was just too damn unreliable.

She was traded in for the Sportage. Got €7500 for her. It was a good price for her, as other dealers were only giving me between €4750-€5500. Her mileage was 149000k.

Well I know it's all down to personal preference and such, and I'm probably the minority, but I'd take the Sportage over the Astra any day of the week.
