So I'm a little concerned about how useful my prewash is, Bilt Hamber Surfex HD. It looks like I'm just spraying water into the car. I'm not sure how effective this would be, but I don't know if the garden pump sprayer would handle anything a bit thicker, so I'll give it a try with some body shampoo and see how it holds up.

I'll also need to get a new wheel cleaner soon. I'm assuming I can't use a wheel cleaner with iron remover on the body so would a tar/iron combo like CarPro Trix any use or am I better off getting standalone products?

Surfex HD is a little excessive as a pre wash - it wont be too kind on any wax or sealant - better with Bilt Hamber's Auto Foam which will also work through the pump sprayer. A pre wash wont always remove the dirt instantly, anything that will is often too harsh; its for softening the dirt so that it lifts it safely. In Ireland, a car will always require a proper wash with mitt and two buckets.
CarPro Trix is a maintenance type product - two separate products will do a far better job. If you are looking for a wheel cleaner with fallout remover in it, look no further than Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel - and no need to use it every wash, unless its been a few weeks between washes - use a regular wheel cleaner for your weekly wash and every 3rd or 4th wash, use Auto Wheel after your wheel cleaner, to return them to tip top shape.

I think I'll pick up some Auto Foam when the Dry Me Crazy is back in and I'll wait until my wheel cleaner is finished before ordering tar and iron remover, along with a new wheel cleaner.

As my wheel cleaner is running out and rather than using iron wheel cleaner every time, I'll just get regular wheel cleaner and the standard iron remover should be ok?

Other one is back to black smells amaze balls but it runs off and looks terrible and also runs onto paint work.

Well never using that again then so.

Assume paint doesn't like it either.

    :pac:

It just ends up destroying your hard work on paint if cleaned right.

Its grand if in a showroom or no rain but just doesn't last

+1 for the Bilt Amber Auto foam and Wheel cleaner. Both great products.

I have to store the wheel cleaner in my shed though. It really stinks!!!

Run the nozzle and trigger under a hot tap for a few seconds, give it a quick dry and it shouldn't be as bad ;)

Couple places mentioned here not sure on there locality compared to yourself.

Just so you know price wise it's all depending on what your after and these places are not your 10 euro wash n go places. :D

Finally got my greasy paws on the Microfiber Madness Incredipole kit along with a small few other items. Is it sad that I'm looking forward to using it?

I also stocked up on general consumables and got a new CarPro PolyShave clay cloth. I'll report back on the Incredipole and the clay cloth. The only problem I have now is a lack of free weekends between now and the new year.

Oh, a small piece of advice Curran, tape the ends of the Incredipole box as mine was open when I got it. It probably was the battering in the delivery van. Nothing was missing so no problem.

I will pass that onto the packaging department :D I normally would on a box like that, but they arrived in and your order went out before I even seen them.

A few days ago I was trying to remove sticker glue from the inside of the rear window and buffed too far over and was worried about smudging my view but now that part of the window is clear while the rest is hazy.

Looks like it's time to clean the insides of the windows, I have noticed the windscreen looking a little dirty and touching the corner with my finger has confirmed this, it's also starting to take longer to demist. I'll give the rear glass a clean and see how I get on but I'll wait until I get myself a proper window cloth before tackling the windscreen as I hear it's a pain to get right :P

On the topic of glass, the wiper sounds dry when wiping the top left of the windscreen and when wiping it looks like a pattern of drops left there...it's hard to explain and also hard to get a picture of it. I cleaned the windscreen with fast glass but still not much luck.

My most recent thing to do with interior glass is as follows:

Clean the glass with Gtechniq G6 Perfect Glass applied to a clean applicator pad
Dry with an old absorbent t-shirt/cloth
Dry quickly with a heat gun/hair dryer
Apply Autoglym glass polish and leave to dry
Buff with an MF cloth, turning to a new side for the final buff

Use only demister with A/C on (i.e. don't use a cloth or your hand)

The reason I say Gtechniq G6 and not another cleaner is that it has IPA of some sort in it (very much like their Panel Wipe) in it which does a much better job of removing grease and dirt from the glass. When drying afterwards the cloth sticks to the glass a bit and is hard to move thereby meaning the glass is perfectly clean. Autoglym glass polish has anti-fog properties which helps too.

Just know that this method is perfect for all interior glass but your rear screen is always going to fog up quicker than the rest of the glass. I'm not 100% sure why this is but It has happened in every car I've had no matter how much/well I clean and polish it.

Oh what I would give to have a petrol pressure washer that pumps out hot water....it would make defrosting the car every morning a joy :D

Lads I'm having problems with my windscreen and wipers. When it rains and the wipers go off, in light drizzle the wipers sound dry in the top left corner and also as the wipers pass I see what looks like what I can only describe as caked on looking drops, and when the wipers pass back there's almost like an imprint of where the passenger wiper stops in the middle of the windscreen.

I'm not sure if it's from the Surfex HD or de-icer or what. Even when using glass cleaner and wiping off the wiper blades it's still the same, it's also very difficult to get a picture of!

Bonded contaminants on the glass. Try giving the glass a clay followed by Gtechniq glass polish or carpro ceriglass.

Or are you sure the rubber on the blades I'd a bit rigid due to the cold conditions and isnt quite forming to the shape of the windscreen?

I know its technically not detailing but does anybody know anybody decent that does stickers? The 924 stick on the back of my classic is massively faded. Would like to get one made up.

Look up eBay and likes as you can get custom decals

Didn't think I'd need to clay the glass! I'll pick up a clay bar, better glass product and a glass towel soon.

Not too sure on that one, although I did notice the bottom part of the driver side wiper seems to wobble going back and forth as if it's not being pressed on the windscreen properly. Not sure if this is normal, could be due to the fact the wiper blade is so long and it's the furthest distance from where the arm is pressing down?

It seems to have been an issue before the freeing temperatures set in. There was some small, light slush on the windscreen after de-icing the other night so hopefully it didn't damage the blades too much...

I know it's a bit away from you but CM Signs in Thurles do them and they're pretty good!

The lads in D&D Detailing recently worked on a Tommi Makinen edition Evo. Sticker removal and replacement. But they're located in Cork which may be no good to you.

I have a buddy that makes these along with sign writing.
I am sure he would post any to you.
Do you have a sample pic?

Did an Evo before, and it was a painful job - though the decals we had weren't genuine and this took a lot of time to try align them all as best possible.

I'd try and source a genuine set if at all possible, to avoid this scenario.

Was that a red Evo? I think I remember seeing that on here.

It was, and it was a nightmare job from start to finish - we removed the old decals, detailed it, sent it off for some paint on a few bits, and after the paint despite being told not to touch the rest of the car, the decided it would be good to run a polisher over it. With already low readings, you can imagine where we were left to try resolve what they'd done after having correction already! :(

I came out to my car this morning and spotted someone had hit and marked the rear drivers corner. What would be the best way of tackling this. I've attached a pic, albeit a poor one. All advice welcome.

A very poor pic indeed! It may aswell not be attached at all :pac:
