Do you think 1000 passed AC?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39 loggingfolk

It was maybe only speculation but one of the other candidates at my AC said that there were only approx 1200 that got through as far as the AC. That sounds very low considering the some 7500 initial applicants.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

Working off 1200 it's anyone's guess how many passed AC then.....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 380 ✭✭vickmackey

I'd heard same kind if figure- about 1000 to AC - and there were a lot failed and lot of no shows and walk outs at AC!!

Going off the numbers stated in previous posts:

    Batch 1 PCA numbers: 18 candidates x 3 sessions over 2 days = 108 candidates

    Batch 2 PCA numbers: 18 candidates x 3 sessions over 3 days = 162 candidates

The 'delay batch' are mostly 'B' (60-69) scorers with a presumably small amount of 70+ scorers having been in the delay group only due to having to confirm their ICT qualification with Deloitte. It's anyone's guess as to how many will be within the 'delay batch'. Given the rumours rife about a new drive starting soon, it would probably suggest that the numbers reaching the last five stages weren't as high as the PSNI had hoped.

Going by previous statistics, which of course will not be entirely accurate for this year:

2010 campaign: 9,825 applicants with 1,419 passing IST

Published average statistics from campaigns years ago:

    Attend AC: 80.92%
    Pass AC: 53.74%
    Attend Medical: 95.11%
    Pass Medical: 78.75%
    Withdrawl Merit Pool: 1.38%

Factor in the amount that don't attend or don't pass PCA; don't bother sending vetting forms or don't pass vetting; and don't bother completing online learning. You soon have 100 odd candidates down to double figures with withdrawl / failure rates.

Without jinxing anything, I would hope everyone is in with a good shout.

And the above doesn't take into account the PCA fails which must be about 30%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭Batman91

Surely PCA fails wouldn't be as high as 30%. The figures above do look promising for someone who got a 63 in the AC.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 444 ✭✭Sthm

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way whatsoever to anyone who hasn't made it past the PCA, but there seems to be quite a number failing it. Even though this forum is a relatively small batch compared to the actual numbers involved throughout the process, I'd say it gives a fair idea as to how the bigger picture is going. Even with an attendance rate of 95% and pass rate of 75% at PCA, a group of 162 is soon down to 115 or so.

Obvious disclaimer that this is all just speculation and not intended to get any of our hopes up! :)

I think it must be around the 30% mark from looking around on boards on the pca thread. Somewhere it was mentioned that on one particular session that 50% failed, and historically (under old system) 60% failed. I would be very surprised if the failure rate was less than 30%, but it is all speculation.

Anyway I reckon anyone still in has a very good chance and the numbers have not come through as originally thought, hence the need for a new campaign.

I think those events they had for this current campaign are going to start in May again. You know where they bring you in for a talk and they set up a PCA.

I'll be applying for that one too!

Anyone I've spoken to doesn't think I need to as they think a B will be enough but id rather not leave it to chance. Would like to improve my AC score if I can

You also need to account for PCA no shows, 4 people didn't turn up at my session.

Still no post for me yet. Find comfort in knowing ive made it this far compared to the huge numbers that applied. Anyone else find themselves watching more cop shows on tv to pick up tips on everyday normal policing tasks. I mean uk cop shows and not the high octane US cop shows

Since I first applied I don't think Iv missed an episode of police interceptors! Lol

Hopefully this will be our week!

all i hear are the tumbleweeds rolling by!

everyone disheartened by lack of info from the recruiters???

ah well, at least we are still in a positive position (hopefully!)...still in with a chance, so lets keep the heads up and smile :-)

while the forum is great for updates....it can be easy to get more frustrated and disheartened...but keep remembering, we are in the running, while so many arent in this fortunate waiting position!

First intake now full. The next one isn't until 5 weeks after the start of the first one. Getting this info from the waiting thread

was gonna post this up too -- dunno what this means for any of us (if anything).....yet again, more hypothetical ifs/ands/buts....

couple of people have kindly posted in the PCA/FITNESS TEST thread that there is due to be more physicals at the end of April, so we should start seeing some people getting dates this week maybe....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 380 ✭✭vickmackey

Just popped back in for a gawk ! See nothing has changed and same B guys are advancing even further!

Anyone friendly enough with a serving officer that could find out from HR what their plan is for us?

How hard is it for them to send off a group email update to us?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭Clare1304

Sgtmort got an a* if I remember correctly so is say he's one of the very few with a pca date :( No one else got forms yet I assume? No insider friends here I'm afraid!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭DesertCreat_15

    Forgive me then so :pac:

Was there not another 1 or 2 in addition to SgtMort?

I don't like being treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark and being filled full of shíte with rumours/speculation. lol

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

Yeah he got an a* I checked his posts.

I was tempted today to send an email to HR just to ask for a rough timeline or any indication but read the AC results email and thought better of it.

Just trying to put it out of my head and prepare and believe it will happen for me

Hi there, part of the delay batch that only received their results a few weeks ago. Scored a very high B and received my vetting forms a week ago. Just waiting, fingers crossed, for a PCA letter to come through the post now. Anyone in the same boat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭Sgtmort

Yea got a* and it came in the post. Also gives details on a familiarization session and to wear training kit too. I'd say everyone should have their letters the next few days and I'd assume wer all in for the same pca date as I can't see who else is left!

Get excited folks there coming in the post now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,263 ✭✭✭DesertCreat_15

I'll give it two weeks before i take the aptitude test books down off the shelf again! :pac:
