Yeah, valid up until March 2015. The same article that states that on the PSNI website suggested that funding was secured for 100 under 2013/14's budget and then hoping for 378 under 2014/15 which was recently confirmed.

Anyone know what happened to the total of 478 then? Any documentation I've seen so far only relates to 378 and seems to not include the initial 100 already secured from last year's budget.

    www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/northern-ireland/7500-apply-for-just-100-psni-officer-posts-and-one-in-three-is-catholic-29736621.html

    That's actually better news!

Not sure of that link will work. Basically it says

"Initially 100 student officers will be selected and subject to funding up to 378 officers will be appointed from this merit pool of candidates from this campaign"

They will probably go with 378 this competition as they've said.

Then 300 from a new competition.

Did I read this merit list will go to march 2015?

yeah so potentially we could lose out if they get those numbers before they reach us. assume you can't enter a new comp while you're on a merit list?! :pac:

be hard not to justify the funding for extra staff, when so much is being spent on OT and bringing officers from UK mainland.

i think (from my reading) it means they exhaust the full merit list from this campaign first... depending on how many they get the funding for.

I forgot one little but very important word in my last comment. Sorry

Should have said "subject to funding a further 378....."

Which in total is the 478.

We could lose out if they get to that number. I'm hoping we don't. With people failing PCA.....vetting.......medical...... And not taking up places we are in with a good shout.

A few A* have failed the medical.

I'm sitting with a 66% in the AC, what do you guys think my chances are of getting an invitation to the PCA?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 142 ✭✭CDizzle

I think all b grades will get an invite to PCA, if there are any spaces available they'll probably want a quick turnaround time and getting one of the stages out of the way now would make sense.

I'm assuming if there's another campaign we would be free to reapply, at least unless I'm in GV that's my plans.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

Yeah free to apply! I will be anyway!

    Hopefully we don't need to!

Same! I want my own phone call.....happy for everyone that got theirs but wish it was me!!

I will apply no matter how many times it takes because it's what I have wanted to do from I was no age but I think with a good B there is no reason why we wouldnt be taken forward to the next stages

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 518 ✭✭✭oztop1234

I agree. Especially if it's 478 they are looking for.

Might have to wait a few months to move to next stage but gives us more time!

I see a 68% got the vetting forms, I am 67% and waiting patiently. I think all Bs are in with a good chance. I reckon about 1,300 made it to the AC and guess about 50% passed leaving about 650 still in at that stage. From what I hear about 30% are failing the pca and then at least another 10% will either fail medical, vetting or simply not take the place offered (historically 1 in 5 didn't take the offered place).

If my guesstimate is right that would explain the rumour of a second recruitment drive this year (presumably for the 300 next year) as there are barely enough left in to cover this years 378.

So for us I think the thing to do is to keep training hard so that we don't fail the pca as there is a very high chance we are all still very much in the competition.

No forms for me today anyway. Beginning to feel like a dog but will hold off on barking at the postman. For now.

It's been over a week now. I reckon it won't be until they finish current PCA's and getting the first batch started in GV.

    Waiting game!

See more people have started recieving calls about starting in GV

Online learning has come out today as well so it is moving along for people ahead of us so only a matter of time before we hear

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 380 ✭✭vickmackey

JAYC90 gave me a very clear timeline for them which has cleared alot of questions.....
    see "ONLINE LEARNING" thread...

So basically once we get PCA done it should move pretty quickly!!
