A lot of the flaws in the more recent series are the result of lazy and badly thought out plot devices I think, which is a bit disappointing for such a great show.

Just a few things that have gotten on my nerves that I can remember:

Sometimes they are terrified by a small group of walkers and drop everything to run away, then other times they walk over and kill them easily like they are swatting flies.

After Brian aka 'The Governor' inexplicably massacres his own people and becomes a hobo for a few months, he then goes on to join a second community where he is so determined to not be a leader again, he decides to kill all the leaders (???), after which he of course becomes leader. Great plan there Brian.

People falling down for no apparent reason and hurting their leg, followed by obligatory surprise zombie attack where injured party slows the group down.

A small one, but Daryl opening the door to the funeral home the second time without even checking if there is danger out there. Surely at this stage he of all people is not going to be so complacent.

The scene in the latest episode when Glenn was standing on top of the pile of rubble in the tunnel faced with about 12 walkers,he could have easily knelt down & stabbed them in the head one by one but instead decided to try to sneak around & we know what inevitably happened.

Another thing is that finding running vehicles is hard but surely with all the houses they searched you'd think they'd come across a few bikes, much easier to pedal a bike and get away from walkers than strolling along a road.

That is SO weird.... you read my mind. . I was literally thinking only today- why don't they use bikes. .??! Way better than walking everywhere & I'm certain there would be loads around... no need for petrol etc even just to carry stuff they need surely they would come in handy! !

How come the cars still start... I'm no mechanic but surely the batteries would be dead by now! !

Someone mentioned about them not collecting more clothes etc I have wondered about that many times too... if every comfort was taken away you can be damned sure I would be collecting clean knickers everywhere I could!!!

Also about the ladies time of the month... How do they manage & I bet loads of them are surprised by walkers when out 'dropping a morning donut' or we whatever that guy said in the last episode lol that would be some way to die... You'd never be able to have a sh1te in peace again. ..!!

Inconsistencies with the walkers are to be expected. .. but my main one has always been that we don't see more eaten or half eaten walkers around. . Presuming that many of them were turned due to being eaten!!

I still love TWD & am going to miss it so much after next week!!

They look healthy on the show but in reality, nearly two years of malnutrition and almost constant exertion would put a stop to their time of the month.

They should have them looking unhealthier. Only Glenn seems to have longer more raggedy hair. Even if they are cutting their hair, the haircuts should be uneven, botched looking, patchy.

I'm not so sure that would stop them... nature would find a way & lorie got pregnant anyway... I don't think so really!

Totally agree with this. .. Was looking at the army guy with the orange flat-top... That would grow out so quickly & I'm sure they don't have hair- dressing stops along the way! ! That whole part is very unbelievable to me too!!

The inconsistent length of the grass/foliage just drives me mad...inconsistent abilities of walkers is annoying also.

This series started out so well but has become more soap opera-ish unfortunately.

The grass/foilage is being eaten by Animals
Animals eat grass Their populations are exploding with collapse in agriculture and humanity. Many types of animals eat grass as their main source of food, and are called graminivores – these include cattle, sheep, horses, rabbits and many invertebrates, such as grasshoppers and the caterpillars of many brown butterflies. Grasses are also eaten by omnivorous or even occasionally by primarily carnivorous animals.

Different biters have different abilities/attributes depending on range of factors
They are not Ford fiestas MK2.

Soap Opera? , what are you expecting to see?
its an extended post-apocalypse survival show, about a small group of wretched refugees. farming, foraging trying to find a shelter, bandits and biters
    Sin e

But we are not seeing an explosion of animals. Daryl was out for hours in the last episode before he got a rabbit.

Predators would also be exploding and in this case the most numerous predators are the walkers - so the animals are probably being eaten by walkers too.

To say animal populations would be exploding is just silly with the amount of bloody walkers that are around the place. I'm amazed we even see the occasional deer considering there seems to be an inexhaustible supply of walkers.

Also, If I were them I would have at some point said "ok, we are fairly near metropolitan Atlanta here, maybe that's why so many of the bloody things are around. Perhaps we should try and make our way to Idaho or Utah or somewhere that it is not as likely to be as densely populated with bloody zombies?"

We should hire these lads to keep the grass verges of our roads in Ireland down..........in TWD the grass beside roads is always very well trimmed while the grass in the fields is wild.

Go figure:D No graminivores in the fields at all...................:rolleyes:

Also gunshots do not scare the deer away at all...........we saw that in a recent episode didn't we.........

    Fair enough.

My point being they are focusing much more on the "love stories/teenager problems/relationship problems etc etc. Stuff that the soaps normally do ad nauseam. I preferred the edginess of the earlier TWD stuff.

I would've thought that feral animals would be a problem at this stage. What has happened to all the cats and dogs? Fair enough cats aren't going to cause that much of a threat if you have riot gear like Glenn but it's strange that not even one house has a cat. As for dogs, they are pack animals. With the breakdown of society, wouldn't a pack of feral dogs pose as much threat as a horde of walkers?

Yeah, they covered this in BBCs Survivors (the original one). Unfortunately they suffered from Disney Dog Syndrome so we saw lots of placid ears back waggy tail dogs accompanied by a soundtrack of snarling and growling. But yes, it should be an issue.

The story - the apocalypse story is missing. Did I miss it or something?
Why are they not seen talking about where they were when it happened? indeed what happened? was it overnight, over a week over a month, where did it start? when did they decide they had to get moving, and why?
You would think they would have those convos with each other?

Why have they given up thinking there might be a gov or army still in charge somewhere? no regular radio attempts, or attempts to build radios and search for broadcasts.
Or search maps for military installations, government installations, etc?

Did anyone else spot the really bad animated walker with the holes in the torso in the tunnel? First it was there, in the next scene gone

Given that ammunition is in short supply and that getting too close to a walker is not a good idea. Why don't they all carry pikes or similar long pointy sharp things? having only a knife at this stage of the game is only asking for trouble.

Exactly what I was going to say. A strong longish handle, like a pickaxe handle with a 6 inch nail sticking out the end. Just poke each walker in the head and it's gone.
The last 2 weapons in the world I'd have is ricks gun and daryls crossbow. First of all, if you have a gun, you might as well have something lighter, smaller caliber that carries a larger capacity mag than 6 shots. And a crossbow takes way too long to reload.

I hate the way sometimes they kill a load of walkers like it's easy (which it should be at this stage), but to suit the story, sometimes they run because they think they're overrun, or they just don't bother (so they can knock down a fence in the prison).
And don't get me started on the governor, pretty much everything he did or said was ridiculous.

There are plenty of islands off the US east coast. Find one, kill off all the walkers on it and you've got a virtually walker-proof base... at least until your own people start dying.

I would imagine the alligator population would have exploded at this point. The walkers would be attracted to the movement in the water and the alligators would have a great food supply. Maybe walkers are poisonous??

I was glad they showed it though because you would expect some really rotted walkers by now.

My main gripe with the show is the fact its time span is a few years now at this point and every last person in it has pearly white teeth, how are they brushing them and how are they not discoloured by now at least like.

Why wouldnt they be brushing them? Could they not be getting toothpaste from the houses they raid? Daryl is probably brushing his with a chewed twig.

Glenn and the other one enter a very dark echoie(?) tunnel and then they decide to start having a chat.

It annoyed me he didn't just stand on the rocks and stab all the walkers in the head one at a time.

Well im sure toothbrushes would be the least of their concerns when going for supplies. Also I dont think I have seen anyone use them. They would be eating all sorts of food and their teeth would just not be that white i reckon.

Itd be top in my list of concerns, imagine having a dental problem in the zombie apocalypse - theres no dentists around!! Its as important as having antibiotics or clean water - they dont really show much about that kind of thing now.

In the earlier seasons they showed Rick/Morgan/Morgans son being delighted at being able to have a shower in the police station or people being delighted to be able to wash in Woodbury but nothing about it since.

But that's not the point of the show really. The zombie apocalypse is the backdrop.

The story is about people interacting with other people. Zombies could just as easily be swapped out for aliens or tigers or nothing in particular (the Road).

There's about 1 scene every episode that could be easily remedied with a spear, which were discovered before fire. They're not short of bits of rebar, pointy metal, wood, metal poles.

There's really been no creativity in how they defend themselves. They just do whatever they can with what they find like automatons. Either they find a bit of riot gear or they just have no body armour (even though there's piles of metal and plastic sitting around).

In season 1 they went to the CDC and the doctor there told them the virus was airborne and everyone was infected. All governments had collapsed and there was no cure. The doctor then tried to get them to commit mass suicide.

yeah i know that, but he was one lone looper, he might not be right, eugene and corporal carrott seems to say differently (and who sent them on their mission?)

    anyway just a niggle.
