    Quick question: why do you
push the bar overhead from BTN when you front squat when you can jerk heavier?

I assume you mean OHS and not front squat? I've never tried a snatch grip jerk from the front rack so not sure if it would be any easier, also I've never tried a max from btn so it could be more then my regular jerk, it think I usually is with most lifters.

Sorry, yeah...front squats on the brain for some reason.

Just curious because I tried from BTN after watching your 86kg OHS so thought it might work since I've never tried a jerk but I'm just wondering if front rack would be better.

I had never really thought about it but I just thought a push press might get more up but hadn't considered BTN at all.

I use BTN push press up to as heavy as I can but it isn't strong enough so switch to BTN jerk, I'd say with more practice my BTN jerk would be a lot more solid, I've also seen lifters do a BTN power jerk. Tbh I don't think getting the weight overhead is the limiting factor in my OHS anymore.

Well you can OHS a lot more than me so I thought I'd see what learnz I could get :)

But I've been doing them on and of off the last two and a half years, up until about six months ago getting the weight overhead was my weakness.

I think BTN push press is the way to go and start practicing BTN jerks for when it gets too heavy, from BTN it's easier to press the bar straight up, from front rack you have to get your face out of the way and there's more chance of loosing the weight forward.

And losing part of your face.

    Thanks chief.

    Thanks chief.

I've smacked my chin a good few times when jerking, don't jerk with your tongue sticking out :)

Save a bit of that maxing for the Refugees WLing Competition.:)
It's on the 6th of Sept and open to all lifters.

Told you there'd be more comps between now and Oct ;)

Nice one, I'll have a chat with the coach about fitting it into the programme, I'll make it over whether I'm competing or not, looking forward to checking the place out.

Nope, not WI so no membership required. :) We also have a good few members that are only lifting a few weeks that might be competing, so singlets won't be required either!

The guys really want it to be a fun, social event rather than a formal one!

    Saturday 30th of August.

Dip snatch + mid hang snatch.
    Bar x 3 x 3+3
    30kg x 2 x 3+3

    Snatch
    30kg x 3 x 2
    40kg x 2 x 2
    50kg x 2 x 1
    55kg x 1
    58kg x 1
    60kg x 1
    62kg x 1
    64kg x 1
66kg, miss x 3, this would have equaled my PR, the first rep was very close.

    Tall clean + dip clean.
    Bar x 3 x 3+2
    30kg x 3 x 2+2
    40kg x 3 x 2+2

    Clean and jerk
    40kg x 2 x 2
    50kg x 2 x 1
    60kg x 1
    70kg x 1
    78kg x 1
    82kg x 1
    85kg x 1
87kg, miss, would have been a PR c+j, missed the jerk.

    Back squat.
    Bar x 5
    60kg x 3
    80kg x 1
    100kg x 1
    110kg x 1
    120kg x 1
    125kg x 1, felt easy
    130kg x 1, +2.5kg PR, ugly as sin and sloooow but a PR's a PR :D

    Good Mornings
    40kg x 3 x 10

Great session, got close to snatch and c+j PR's, my technique is getting better at the higher percentage lifts and to get a PR back squat was the icing on the cake.
Would be nice to hit these kind of numbers over at Refugees next week.

Yeah, I had a cheaper pair of sleeves, I had to pull them back up my legs after every rep and the fell apart after a few months, these rehbands are the business though, should have bought them ages ago but the price was putting me off.

You only want the pink ones so you can justify buying those Romaleos :).

    Absolutely!!!
My coach had persuaded me against buying the yellow Romaleos cos they would suit me as a lifter...but now that they have the in PINK there will be no persuading.....Fashion is more important than suitable shoes:pac::pac:
