    Monday 13.2.17 - 7 Easy@8.47min/mile in 61min 32secs

    Tuesday 14.2.17 - Rest

    Wednesday 15.2.17 - 6 Easy@8.47min/mile in 52min 39secs

    Thursday 16.2.17 - 5 Easy@8.47min/mile in 43min 57secs

    Friday 17.2.17 - Enforced Rest

    Saturday 18.2.17 - 2E, 2x5mile@MP off 5mins, 2E

    Sunday 19.2.17 - 18 Easy@8.47min/mile in 2hrs 38mins even.

Brief details of a busy week, a week that was to see 60miles+ but just about seen 50. Early week missus was away, meant spending Valentines with Pam & the 5 sisters for me!!!! She was back Wednesday afternoon and had picked up a vomiting bug, while I had a late night escorting a troubled juvenile to Longford GS, cue 2 days of vomiting for her and me trying to be sensitive to her predicament and fitting in short runs when I could.

Friday and I was dealing with a fatal RTC all day so no running of any kind and a shelved 12 miles Steady. Saturday's MP session didn't go the way I had hoped, first off, it was the wee princess' birthday & I hate running on my children's birthdays, cue guilt heading out on top of bad diet, hydration & sleep the day before. Let's say I dogged the miles out, not comfortable but not hard either, they averaged 7.07min/miles and probably a bit quick.

Today's long run was to be 16 miles, I knew that, but wanted to put a bit of respectability to the weeks mileage total so done 18 again. Run that had every surface imaginable, muck, grass, road, gravel path, trail path, tarred path along the Royal Canal. Legs felt the MP miles from day before but got through it with thickness!!! A week that I squeezed every possible window out of to get the runs in. Hope for normality and a quieter week next week.

Sounds like a difficult week, B. We all have them from time to time, myself included. You did well to hit 50 in the circumstances.

I've been thinking recently that the training plans leave little or no room for life stuff to get in the way. Mr P and Mr D clearly had no wifes, children or jobs.

First off cheers for the well wishes on the illness folks, not my own doing and not something I had any control of so I've no issues with missing the week.

    Monday 27.2.17

    Rest

    Tuesday 28.2.17

    5 miles Easy@8.48min/mile in 44min 01secs

Not sure what to do after 9 days off with illness, looked up the TbL method of training that recommended 23 miles after 10 days rest, damn was a day short to do that session!!! Kept it to 5 easy, legs were like planks of timber though after 9 days off you'd imagine they would have been mad for a gallop.

    Wednesday 1.3.17

    6 miles Easy@8.47min/mile in 52min 40secs

Coach told me to build it up a mile each day so that's what I done. Familiar out and back route where I noticed one of the locals had invested in two alpacas!!! There they were in all there glory in the front garden of a house in the darkest depths of Meath, legs still like planks of timber!!!

    Thursday 2.3.17

    7 miles Easy@8.47min/mile in 61min 30secs

Out in the pi$$ings of rain doing this, not the smartest idea just getting over a chest infection as I got soaked through but the legs were back to normal and it was a lovely run regardless of the monsoon weather.

    Friday 3.3.17

Rest, missus was working but still left over hours window to run by time she got in. It was still foaming it down and I deemed it a wiser idea to not run rather than get drenched 2 days running. Not a cop out more me being sensible for once in my life!!!

    Saturday 4.3.17

    1E, 3MP, 1E, 2MP, 1E

Handy enough mile easy to warm up and into the MP miles, Christ I questioned my sanity and mental fortitude on at least 10 occasions on the first mile. I was literally breathing out of my rectum, decided to myself I'd pull out of Barcelona on illness grounds fcuk it it wasn't worth this pain!!! Then sense prevailed, get through this one, the first one is always the toughest you know that and as if by magic a switch was flicked on at the start of the second mile I was floating on air from here on in doing the MP stuff. Stupid mind games!!!

    Sunday 5.3.17

    12 miles last 2@MP

Purposely choose a route where the final two miles would be up hill to replicate the finish next Sunday in Barcelona. Glad to say this was a handy run as it should be at this stage and the MP miles were a doddle compared to yesterday's opening one. The MP miles were 7.05, 7.06 on a far tougher uphill finish than what awaits next Sunday.

38 miles for the week & the hay is in the barn!!!!

    Barcelona Musings:

Since jumping back in with coach Myles at the begginging of October '16 I've run in excess of 800 miles in preparation for the Barcelona marathon. There was a time 800 miles was a good yearly total for running for me let alone a 5 month total, suppose that reflects a bit on how much I've improved since asking Myles for guidance. Steady improvement race on race, not setting the world alight I know but I'm more than happy with my progress and feel I'm a race or two away from a big performance.

Barcelona hopefully being that race, I've lost over a stone in weight since the start of the year and am down to 12st 5llbs, not narrow arse standard like some but I'm more than happy with it and can feel the benefits from it while running. I've abstained from alcohol since New Years Day and that has helped no end regarding the weight loss and extra energy and less fatigue while training, I'm not going to give an arbitrary goal for the marathon, all I want is a PB and for those who follow this log and have seen my MP miles they know what kind of PB I'm aiming for.

I feel in the form of my life and have done some excellent training on route to next Sunday, I've ran two sub 65 min 10 mile races, well one 10 mile & a 9.93 mile but all the same it was a good race from my point of view, I control all the variables in some way but the one I don't control is the weather, say a prayer for mild dry calm weather next Sunday morning for me folks. Big thank you to coach Myles, he's to modest to admit but only for him I wouldn't be in the shape I am and to steal a quote from YoungAnne "best coach ever", thanks L.

And to you the reader thanks for following my training once more for another marathon training cycle I hope ye have have had a few laughs while reading, from me till the next time, Adios amigos!!!!!!!

Great block of training, B. And a few great races along the way, which is the best indicator of all.
I'm actually quite envious. You being young and carefree and on a steep learning curve. No doubt you'll run a big pb. Don't try anything crazy this week.:D
