Why do they call him Trigger, does he carry a gun?

No, it's because he looks like a horse.

Del: You're going on your holidays Tuesday, ain't yer?

Trigger: Yeah, I'm Looking forward to that Del. I've been under a bit of pressure lately, what with me Gran in hospital and me case being adjourned. It'll be nice to get away from it all. I'm gonna live it up a bit. Disco's nightclubs, golden beaches, blue skies.

Rodney: Sounds Great Trig, where'y going?

    Trigger: Ireland!

    RIP.

Trigger. "Maintained it for 20 years. This old broom's had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time."
Sid. "How can it be the same brush trigger?"
    *Shows photo of brush.*
Trigger. "Well there's a picture of it, what more proof do you need?"

its not often a celeb death puts me in a downer but jeez he was one of my favourite characters of all time. The deadpan humour was just fantastic

    He was absolutely brilliant. :(

Rodney - where's your dad Trigger?
Trigger - he died a couple of years before I was born.

Terrible news. I know this is essentially Del Boy's scene but Trig's reaction is just priceless.

    RIP Dave

    Rest in Peace Trig.

I actually sat opposite him on the tube in London years ago. I was getting off at my stop and he was going further, when I stood up to get off, he looked up from his newspaper at me and I said "Alright Trigger?" in my best cockney accent, he just laughed and said "Alright Dave?" in his Trigger voice. Nice man.

Rodney: Trig, why do you call me Dave? My name's Rodney.
    Trigger: Are you sure?
Rodney: I've looked it up on my passport and birth certificate and everything. It's definitely Rodney.
Trigger: So what's Dave? A nickname, like?
Rodney: No - you’re the only person who calls me Dave, everybody else calls me Rodney - and the reason they call me Rodney, is because Rodney is my name.
Trigger: Well, I shall have to get used to calling Rodney from now on.
    Rodney: Thank you.
Trigger: How long are you going to be Baz? Me and Dave haven’t got all day.

    RIP

Mike: What name have they decided on?
Trigger: If it's a girl they're calling it Sigourney after an actress, and if it's a boy they're naming him Rodney after Dave!

    :pac:

Oh Christ...Trigger always called Rodney 'Dave' The comment was made purposely to highlight triggers constant confusion over Rodney's name. It's called 'wit' (which seems lost on you)

Trigger And that's what I've done. Maintained it for 20 years. This old brooms had 17 new heads and 14 new handles in its time.
Sid How the hell can it be the same bloody broom then?
Trigger Theres the picture. What more proof do you need?

Don't worry I do get "wit" but just think the logic is wrong. Anyhow each to their own!

    Rodney: I'm listening to Mozart's Concerto No.5 in D-Minor
Trigger: No words to this song Dave?
Rodney: No Trigger, it's an instrumental

Del Boy: All right Trigger? What you doing?
    Trigger: I'm listening to Mozart's Concerto No.5 in D-Minor
    Del Boy: Okay.
    Trigger: It's the karaoke version

The Batman & Robin scene is fantastic, where they all turn up at the funeral in fancy dress, not knowing the fancy dress party was cancelled!
Trigger embarressed because he also turned up in fancy dress... as an undertaker!
I still laugh thinking about it that scene!
One of the best deadpan comic characters, and the writers and producers found the perfect man for it!

Trigger: We have an old saying that's been handed down by generations of road sweepers: "Look after your broom..."

Rodney: ...and your broom will look after you.

Trigger: Nah Dave. It's just: "Look after your broom..."

Loved Trigger's description of his dream girl...

Trigger: Oh she's nothing to look at, very plain, little scar on her chin where she had a wart removed.

Or when they went on the Jolly Boys Outing...

    Trigger: I got a room in a motel. They don't know I ain't got a car

Sad news, Trigger was a great character. I always laugh when I think of the episode where he went to the Trotters for a lift to the pub, even though he had to walk past the pub to get to their flat.

Forgot that he was in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, one of his last roles, was on TG4 over Christmas.

They still haven't come up with a comedy series that competes with Only Fools for hilarity.

Best ever, without a doubt. Don't think we'll see TV like it again.

Ah lad, if you've only seen him in Vicar of Dibley you are missing out.

He is funny in VoD, but as Trigger it was a completely different level.

Rodney: As I was saying. On a cold, rainy night in Peckham, someone has arranged for you four to be here in in this room - together. No one knows who. And the most frightening aspect of the whole mystery - no one knows why! Now, think hard. Who would do something like that?

    Trigger: Jeremy Beadle?

Roger Lloyd-Pack, who played Trigger in Only Fools And Horses, has died aged 69, his agent said.
Lloyd-Pack was born into an acting family in north London and his father Charles was a regular in Hammer horror films. Although best-known for playing the dim road-sweeper in Only Fools And Horses, Lloyd-Pack appeared in dozens of films and TV shows including a regular role as farmer Owen Newitt in The Vicar Of Dibley.
Father Ted creator Graham Linehan was among those paying tribute online. He said: “Very sad news about Roger Lloyd Pack. Trigger was an ancestor to Father Dougal and I’m glad I once had a chance to tell him so.”
Lloyd-Pack was also a successful stage actor, appearing regularly at Shakespeare’s Globe in central London, but knew he would always be best known as
Trigger. In a 2012 interview with the Guardian, he said: “People will never stop shouting ‘Trigger!’ at me in the street. The other day I jumped some lights on my bike because someone was hollering at me. A police van pulled me over, and when I stopped they also shouted: ‘Trigger!’. It can be very annoying.”
He was also politically active and a prominent campaigner for left-wing causes in the capital.
Lloyd-Pack’s daughter Emily shot to fame in the 1987 film Wish You Were Here before stepping back from the celebrity limelight after struggling with health issues.
