I've never had fried beans. Happy enough with my beans done in the pot or microwave. But have found that the microwaveable snack pots contain far too much sauce!

With a load of grated cheese added to them. Sometimes a splash of worcestershire sauce.

Have to try this "frying" of beans soon.

Black beans stir fry for dinner last night and baked beans on toast for lunch today. Lots of little farting children in my house today

Baked beans are absolutely rank. Vile things. Can't even look at them!

Are you talkin about beans in tomato sauce from a can fried? WTF? Thats the same as putting them in a saucepan!

Yes! Fry them alongside your egg in a frying pan! They are definitely different from boiling in a saucepan!
I almost always Fry my beans.

When I'm having a cooked breakfast (sausages /rashers and such) beans are the last thing I'll put in the pan.

Boiling them or nuking them doesn't compare.

I knew I liked you! You know what I'm talking about.

is it not the same as heating them in a saucepan?

What is a frying pan but a flat saucepan? do you put in oil or something, or heat them extra hot??

Incidentally, anyone know why there are 239 beans in a can of beans?

Baked beans, nice bitta mash, mix em all up, big blob of mustard.

Baked beans, mix curry powder through em, mix with pasta or rice.

I know, I'm gross. Screw ye, I like it.

Heinz baked beans. Heat them in saucepan

Fry an egg keeping the yolk runny. Add this to the saucepan and mix it all up.
Add a few drops of Tabasco sauce.

    Serve it with some toast.

    Delicious!!!!!!! Trust me!!!!!!

With a load of grated cheese added to them.

The only correct answer so far. I hope you are using a decent standard of cheddar though.

Higher surface area in the frying pan, unless you would usually use a really large sauce pan. Never tried it but I'd imagine it results in a much mushier bean with a thicker sauce because it would reduce much quicker.

Plus if it's done in a pan after frying up things like sausages and rasher then it will pick up on those extra flavours from the pan.

Could be wrong tho, never tried it.

Anyone remember the Mexican Jumping Beans they used to sell in joke shops?

They were a ball bearing enclosed in a Tramil type capsule and it would roll around with a life of its own.

That's how I like my beans.

So it has come to my attention the past while that some people have not experienced the delicious taste of baked beans fried! Fry them till they get all mushy. Amazing. (Try it if you haven't)

Heated in a pot is okay but nothing compared the frying.

Microwaving them just doesn't compare. They don't taste right.

And having them cold is only when you're famished and can't wait the few minutes to heat them up.

So, how do you like your beans?

drain the juice, then put a big knob of butter in the pot and cook them, just like the cowboys used to do.
    :)

Beans are a classic staple. Although it can sometimes be irritating the way chefs have to add a twist on to staple foods.

For example, I ate in one of the Jamie Oliver restaurants in London that served baked beans "with burnt bits"

Anyone know how this is done?

Why is it called a "knob" of butter?

Why can't we just keep it simple and call it a "penis" of butter?

cheese, vinegar and brown sauce mentioned...there are some sick individuals in this thread

Finally. I had to read through 7 seven pages to find that bit of info. Thank you. I can't wait to try this. Beans are the food of the gods. I might try rinsing them lightly with water in a big sieve first.
    Jesus I'm starvin' here...

Try beans with a baked potato and melted cheese over the top. Thank me later.

I don't eat beans, they're overrated. Mushy peas are the business.
