Its a very strong panel. Personally i dont rate Dan McCormack. He badly lacks work rate and was cleaned out of more games then i can remember. Those other 5 forwards are a mouth watering prospect though especially O'Riordan under the high ball. Id imagine Liam Mcgrath will either go wing or corner.

Very very good bench with Fitzelle, Gallagher and Hammersley to call on.

Some notable names on the extended panel. Jack Peters, John Mcgrath, Mark McCarthy. Jason Ryan won a minor two year ago iirc. Seen Odhran Floyd play up in Grangemockler back in May against the Cats and was impressed with his workrate. Get over Wednesday night and we have a real chance in this competition.

I wonder why John McGrath can't make the subs bench...must have lost his form...Sean Maher and Cahill like?

Successive managers have picked Dan now...so his training must be very good...

But I'm with you with Dan - several times he has threatened to take off - but he looks like he lacks self belief when it comes on tough - which makes me wonder why he has not come under more pressure from the subs and panel...we shall see

It will be very hard for them to beat Clare in Ennis...but if they pull it off - it should set them up nicely - it will be very tough though

Strong squad but I would slightly disagree on DMcC. Work-rate not as good as it could be but think its ok and not that much of an issue and wouldn't knock him that much for it.
Don't think JR won minor 2 years ago. Don't think he was in team anyway but could have been squad

I stand corrected. I think Andrew was minor although Jason may have been minor last year.

How's the GAA going down over there on the box?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭Paddico

Haven't watched any games in a non Irish pub to be honest, just have my regular haunts in London I go to. You've prob seen some of the twiter comments.
If it was on in the corner of a random pub most people wouldn't take much notice and know what it was anyway.
I think the real reaction might be in some small town up north that wouldn't have a big Irish community

Well to be fair now there is still high unemployment in this country and i think given the choice with going to the hurling the next day i think the hurling would win with the vast majority of Tipperary fans. I support the footballers whenever i can but for me hurling is a far better game. I have no guilt over putting them first. Dont get me wrong i wish the footballers all the best and i see no reason why they cant develop into a top class side. Ill go to whatever game i can but i cant afford to go to every single game. I have to prioritise

The Kerry game two years ago where we gave them a decent game until Donaghey came on. Think Fox got man of the match.
Vs Dublin about 5 years ago was the last time a back door game was televised.

Were a different animal now though. Team has made serious strides the last two seasons. A win over Galway would be a huge stride forward. I'm strangely optimistic. We should've beat cork and they are better than Galway.
It's great for players like grogan, Sweeney etc to get exposure like that. Grogan was savage against the dubs a few years ago. He's got a supporting cast now.

The Kerry game in Killarney last year where we were hammered also. We played Dublin on tv3 back in 2010 and gave them a real fright.

Twas all about the Grogans that day and not the Brogans. :)

I was at that - Acheson gave Donaghy a right shoulder over the line at one point - great stuff

Am I right in thinking that if we can get past Galway that we will have to play mayo in the quarter final?

Depends on the other game I think. If both ourselves and Cork win then we play Kerry as Cork cannot play them again.

Hopefully they can pull it off in extra time without having to pull around clares necks

Only saw last 10 minutes so hard to say who'll win this on basis of what ive seen. We had John Meagher sent off at end. Barry Heffernan starting extra time in place of him..
How do you think they'll do in extra time Buddy?

Well it's not looking good now. Legs seem to be gone, especially in the defence. Work rate of the clare team is phenomenal. 1 point down with 7 to play.

Edit, flukey goal for clare, probably all over.
