It could be possible if you change your DNS settings.

Well I'm already on a different DNS to get american Netflix. Would that work?

I think there was a sign up on the US blog for beta testers.
I would also imagine you would need a US PS+ account.

Its an open beta isn't it? I'l go for a month of US PSN+ if it gets me to try Playstation Now.

It is worth a try, that is what I am gonna do anyway.

It would be interesting to see how well it would work from Ireland for someone with a US PS+ account. I would assume it would be a sub-par experience because the servers running the service would most likely be based in the US so there could be latency issues at the very least until they put servers in the EU. Please keep us updated if you are going to try this.

Think I'l definitely try it. Not too expensive if it fails anyway.

I think there's a 14 day trial for ps+ with new US accounts anyway

I got a code a while back, didn't work on my EU account. :(

Got access from PS4 E3 app on my US account but doesn't work, Keeps saying not available in your region and must be near a PS Now data center

Apparently the reason is, it does a speed test between yourself and the US servers, and if its not fast enough it doesn't connect.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,561 ✭✭✭Umaro

Got a beta code but couldn't connect as I failed the speed test.

My internet speed is pretty average. Download max speed is about 1.4 megabytes/sec, up speed is awful.

Wonder how I'd get on with eFibre.

Even when Now is properly up and running you still won't be able to connect. They said you needed at least 5MB connection I think.

Some more news about PS Now which is launching as a open beta tomorrow in the US.
As has been mentioned previously, Sony is looking into offering a flat subscription fee model for its upcoming PlayStation Now game streaming service in addition to the a la carte pricing currently seen in the private beta.

"We're working diligently to bring a subscription option to gamers to compliment our rental offering for PlayStation Now," said Buser. "We believe that offering both of these options would provide gamers the freedom to discover and play games in ways that weren't before possible."

Buser couldn't offer concrete details about when such an option might become available, and was careful to note that nothing was set in stone. Pricing for PlayStation Now rentals as they exist now are still in flux, with Buser stating that they'll be looking at feedback from users throughout the beta process. Some games will be offered at a rental price as low as $1.99 - one dollar lower than the current lowest price in the private beta. Buser also mentioned that a "rent-to-buy" solution is also being considered, but that with the service still being in its early days, it's simply too soon to tell.

Unless you were invited to test it, you won't have access it.

Had a look on my US account and didn't see it.
    Will have another look.

EDIT: Where does it say "open to NA" - got a link?

It's an Open Beta so should be available to all (in the US that is).

    Yeah, quick google showed that.
Had another look - nothing. Maybe when their store updates later(still early in the US).

I'd imagine there will be an app for that, but there is none.

If you can survive the absolute cringefest, here is a video on the open beta.

I might actually check this out if we can access through our US accounts.

PS Now is live on the US store.
I have UPC 200MB, wired to the PS4 and did the connection test - it failed.
Unable to get a good connection.
Unfortunately, your network delay might make Playstation(TM) Now unusable in your area. You can make sure by connecting a LAN cable and launching your game again.

You don't need a huge amount of bandwidth, but you ping matters the most.

I know that - was just letting others know what I tested it with.

4 dollars to rent a game for a few hours? Knowing us, that'll translate to 4 euro and we'll be ripped off

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

The $/€4 for 4 hours has really annoyed people for some reason. Ya it's a lot for 4 hours... but the other prices all seem relatively fair to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Ya.. the test failed for me too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,425 ✭✭✭RedXIV

Also a fail, but not surprising since I'm on half the speed of F1ngers.

It's locked to US based IP's so you wont be able to connect unless you use a VPN etc... That's why the connection test is failing.

*Also, the prices are not final and they hinted at a subscription based service like netflix too.
