I was watching both shows at the time. I don't know why you assume I didn't. The next two segements of "D-X" invading were dire esp HHH in the airplane and never get brought up or showen again as they were so bad. I really don't think it was a major shift in the "war". I think it been hyped up because of HHH and genreal sense of trying to make D-X more important then they were. I cringe when they say D-X in the same breath of the NWO, Horsemen etc

All that said, I wish they had opened the doors and had guys like Meng and Scott Norton back DX up, filmed it themselves.

Stuff like this always makes me laugh. It wasnt 1970s Memphis, the rival organisations that were worth 100s of millions of dollars werent gonna have a big brawl in front of fans and numerous cameras. And the WCW and WWE guys crossed paths numerous times and by all accounts drank, took their "vitamins" and partied together without any problems. The hatred between WCW and WWE is probably the biggest work in the history of the business.

Well Vince and Ted hated each other at least :pac:

True but that was mostly Vince hating Ted wasnt it? Or did Ted genuinely hate Vince because of the Black Saturday incident?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Music Moderators, Regional Midlands Moderators Posts: 24,160 Mod ✭✭✭✭Angron

Well either Ted hated him, or Ted was ridiculously spiteful because Black Saturday seemed to be the big push behind Ted putting so much into WCW, to try and beat Vince.

Nothing of note was said on the Lesnar podcast. Pretty boring unless you're a fan of his UFC career and hunting tips.

It really didn't live up to the hype.

Things seem to have gone quiet on the Taker podcast.

We've had several podcasts between the original announcement and now, some that hadn't been advertised originally at all (Edge/Christian, Paige)

I'm losing hope that we will get to see this.

I think I rather wait till Taker retires for him to do a shoot interview.

John Pollock interviewed Lesnar a few years ago. About an 1hour 45minutes into this: https://t.co/hEyQ3cE5tB

Says that the shooting star press was John Laurenitis' idea and Jim Ross said it "would be a Wrestlemania moment"

I enjoyed the podcast and it was nice to hear Brock speak about a range of topics. Nice, also, to see the amount of respect that SC has for Brock, bordering on a bit of a man-crush. If SC is a man's man, then I guess that makes Brock a man's man's man.

Have WWE upgraded to 1080p resolution from the 720p they used to use?

Looking at a clip on YouTube from last night's Raw, and the picture is the clearest I've seen from WWE

Do you have a link to the clip?

Lesnar podcast was a non event. I suppose when you have someone who's very private and introverted by their nature, that's always the risk.

Yeah the Lesnar podcast was pretty dull. I didn't mind the UFC talk, but the college wrestling stuff, hunting, farm and music questions, not by bag.

I understood that they filmed in at least 1080 or whatever kinda fancy cameras they use but only broadcast in 720. Their blu-rays are always 1080i afaik. Network stream is a heavily comoressed 720 for sure.

Picture quality on the network always suffers when they shoot their display screens at the entrance such as NXT, everything goes all fuzzy for lack of a bettef term.

The highest available quality on the WWE Network is:
    720p @ 29.970 FPS
    bitrate of 4500 kbps.

This morning, [mod edit] an internet video's quality was:
    : 16:9 (1280x720)
    Container : MP4
    Video Codec : AVC/H264
    Audio Codec : AC-3 (384Kbps)
    Video Bitrate : 6020kbps (50fps)
    Source : HDTV
    Play Time : 2 Hours 15 Mins
    Release Size : 6.06 GiG

I couldn't believe how good the quality was and never seen wrestling in that quality ever before, but I've seen some of YouTube clips of that quality (and better) before.

The reason why it looked so good is because of the frame rate. The WWE Network can only produce a frame rate of 30 fps, while that was 50 fps. This is because satellite TV delivers a higher quality video than the Network, but you need a good TV to avail of it.

YouTube now allows a frame rate of 1080p60, so any wrestling recorded from satellite and uploaded to YouTube will be of higher quality than the Network.

The video below explains how much of a difference a high frame rate makes. My eyes aren't used to it, so whenever I see a frame rate of 50+, it looks very surreal to me, as if everything is moving in fast-motion, but you get used to it.

To be fair if it had come off, that's probably how it would be remembered.

Thought the most interesting parts of the interview were about not wanting to be at WrestleMania 20 and the check in, check out stuff. It really is just a job to him. I guess I admire his honesty, can you imagine anyone else in the entertainment business saying this stuff?

I thought it was a good podcast i wasnt expecting it to be good so maybe the lower expectations made it better

Yea I watched it yesterday after reading all the negativity about and I gotta say I enjoyed it alot. Everyone loved the Heyman one on the network (the podcast one interviews were better) and I think Brocks was just as enjoyable. Found out alot about him personally, touched on the UFC stuff, covered his first run without dwelling too much on any specific part, covered the botched SSP, his dealings with Vince, his attitude towards the business and also that him and Dwayne got along and Dwayne seems to have shaped the way Brock sees the business. Really good interview IMO.

I've read his book, and if you've read that, there was nothing new on the podcast, so I can get how others took more from it than me.

Incidentally, it was Johnny Ace who told him to do the shooting star at WM 19, and Jim Ross who said it'd be a "Wrestlemania Moment".

I do too, I feel a lot were expecting a build or tension to a Wrestlemania match via this podcast considering Heymans appearance on the podcast some months ago teasing such a possibility.

Twas a good listen once you get past teh hunting and steak talk. Nothing ground breaking but Brock comes off well.

I found The Rocks advice to be interesting as well.

I do hate the kayfabe thoughts on his match with Taker at the end. Its needless to those watching.

Yeah but considering we dont hear much from him outside of wwe, even the hunting and food/drink, music talk was easy to listen to as well, i agree with you on the HIAC talk at the end considering the previous 50 odd minutes

It's a ringing endorsement of the Be a Star Policy, joking about being a bully at school.

That and "I have to Feed the Jew".

Coming across well is not what I would have said.

To be fair plenty of ppl including Paul himself have made jokes about him being Jewish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 908 ✭✭✭Palo Alto

I think it's ok if he makes fun of himself, that's generally accepted. I thought it was a stupid, borderline racist thing to say, but hardly a surprise.

    Hes hardly Mr PC.

In 2004 he made remarks about hating Gays.
