Happy enough with that team. Though if Philly's first attempt is anything to go by the wind is gonna pay havoc.

306N for my sins too. I'll get under that roof yet.

    What a bloody save!

    Donegal really destroying football.

    Indisciplined and negative.

That's a bit OTT. It's rotten out. We're not gonna get a masterclass out here tonight.

I'll accept their indiscipline though. Unimpressed by that. To see some of the players they have resorting to that is disappointing.

As an aside, did I just spot Stoner on the #fanwall?

Well the blanket defence is alive and well. God awful display by Donegal. No interest in playing football!!!!

Was quite surprised how limited Donegal were tonight.

Personally I think playing Murphy in midfield is madness. Remember the first long ball Donegal played in the first minute. McHugh won it, I would say if Murphy was up there it would have been a goal.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

No interest in wining that game full stop never mind playing football.

I know its the league and everything else, can understand not being overly arsed or whatever but that was bloody shameful.

The only saving grace of that muck was being back in the local (Donegal) for half 10.

    That was very good going.

I think you are right about no interest in winning the game, Murphy must have spent most of his time in his own half. The first score came from his individualism, if a couple of high balls were launched into him on the square he'd certainly have gotten a few scores. Leaving Leo McLoone up there was like sending lambs to the slaughter. Normally a very good running player and he barely touched the ball.

I found it quite odd to watch Donegal when they lost the ball too. They immediately all turned around and ran back, with no interest in the ball, inside their 45 only then did they look to see where the ball was.

It was awful muck to watch, but it was a decent enough result considering we were missing Cluxton, Rory, Jack Flash, MDMA, Connolly & Cian. Plus, Berno & Bastick clearly aren't firing on all cylinders yet. The work rate and intensity, right up to the very last second, was great to see. But there was a fair bit of sloppiness too, with errant passes and balls turned over, even when no pressure was on. Thought Kilkenny was poor enough. Kev Mc had a great game, but more than once he was back to running down blind alleys, only to run into a wall of yellow shirts. But it was great to see his phenomenal work rate being rewarded with the goal at the end. Great to see his pts from long range too. More of that plz Kev ! Didn't see the sendings off, as I have yet to watch the game back.

Overall, I thought it was great to see so many big players off the pitch in the last 20 minutes & Gavin letting those that were there, figure it all out for themselves. The subs - especially Mick Fitz - made a big difference. I hope CC continues to get a good run of game time. There is so much speed and creativity just ready to break through. You feel it's just a matter of time before he has a big blow out game. He needs time to make the mistakes that all marquee forwards in training make, without being yanked off at half time, or dropped the next day out. Wouldn't be too harsh on him for the frees. There was a strange, swirling wind, that played havoc with everyones kicking. Even Deano missed a banker as well.

Agreed there was enough encouragement from that 1st ball in to at the very least try to play a more direct game with McBrearty playing off MM inside. Instead they appeared to go into survival mode - I was completely taken aback by them funneling 15 behind the ball when the general feeling this year was that Donegal had employed a more expansive game.

Donegal are a far better team than that and while the likes of McGlynn was a big loss I don't think he would've been capable of adding anything with the manner they laid out their stall this evening. Their standard of shooting was abysmal too,, plenty of thinking for them ahead of the Ulster champo

Wouldn't put any pass on that game from either side.

Both bear tusks from one another that won't be taken in March!

The referee was an absolute disgrace for both sides. ****ing basketball players would be allowed make more contact. I won't watch football if that style of reffing becomes the norm. I'm sure i've come across him before. What Dublin game has he reffed recently?

It was funny, hilarious at times, watching Donegal. Tyrone and Derry have two dedicated sweepers who turn and run into position. I can handle that.... but i don't think i've ever seen a team en masse ignore the ball and sprint (yes some of them sprinted) into position before. Its only the league but i don't think they're as good in the tackle as they used to be. How they attacked was even worse. Lads look like they're programmed. Receive the ball, run diagonally, turn back, pass, repeat in the opposite direction. Its so painfully slow and horrible to watch. Do they want to destroy football altogether in Donegal?:pac:

Who got MOTM? Wasn't really a day to shine. We were average all over and that was always going to be enough given how limited Donegal were. Kev Mc played well.

I thought everyone was overreacting a little regarding Cooper last time but he was really poor again tonight. Got seriously distracted in the game and made lots of mistakes. For the ref to only book him for off the ball shenanigans (when its de rigueur to book both players) says it all.

Kev Mc got MOTM corny. Thought Paddy Andrews and Philly were worthy candidates too. The goal was class. Jim Gavin used a great phrase to describe Philly appearing outa no where to bang it into the net. "Ghosting". The engine on Philly, at that stage of the game, is fabulous. Looks like he could run for days, whereas the Donegal lads were clearly out on their feet with 20 minutes still to go.

Start of the second half was interesting, Costello and Kevin Mc stayed right up in the corners and their men stayed with them, I thought it opened things up a little.
John Small will know he was in a game.

The amount of ground Donegal gave up running back to their own half forward line was crazy alright, I couldn't understand why they didn't engage earlier.

Fitzsimmons was good when he came on. Over all I thought Fenton played well, scored , supported and blocked.

I thought kilkenny was good but he did give the ball away a lot but he was nearly the sweeper. That was different too. His ideas were good but the execution was off the pace .

The sendings off were unnecessary imo. Costello is growing in confidence, he's showing good awareness with his support play. I'd start him ahead of Rock.

Some dump ...eh... mud bath isn't it? There'll be a lot of very angry mammies tonight, having to wash all those muddy jerseys. :p

Mayo's physicality really stood to them today. The conditions suited them much better.

What happens if we just refuse to play on that pitch next week? Do we forfeit the game, or do the Roscommon Co Board have to find an alternative venue? I couldn't care less about not winning all 7 games, if it spares one of our lads a serious injury. We'll still finish in 1st place.

Lot of rain due over the next few days so im guessing there's a fair chance it'll be off. Another mm of rain on that pitch and it'll be umplayable (if its not already)

    Alternative venue?

    Croker? :D

A good day out for Roscommon and their families.

I wouldn't blame the Dublin co board for making an issue out of playing on that pitch. It's not safe and I would be genuinely worried that someone could get a bad injury.

There are 2 more games next Saturday. The potiloos won't handle it never mind the pitch. Place is a hole and shouldn't have been played there.
But they are the form team in the world now so you'll be lucky to play against them
