hopefully the sunday game will put the spotlight on that glorious representative of dublin football and the GAA - the one and only Philly McMahon.
Pests like that should be out of the game until they're taught how to behave.

I'll enjoy O'Donoghue and Gooch getting a crack at him next year when they're fully fit.

You know what they say fourth times a charm.

What a glorious day :) It's always great to win a All-Ireland,but just very much sweeter when it's against Kerry. Such a delight too deny them back to back glory. 4 out of 4 trophies won this year, what a time to be a Dub. Hopefully the ladies can cap off a great year for Dublin GAA next week.

I thought Eamonn Fitzmorice was the second coming? Every expert said he was a tactical genius. Why bring on Dorothy when you want to win a match instead of throwing on a some fat bloke to go out and act like a scumbag??

I hope he stays on for years. Gavin owned him. Actually clueless.

    Has anyone found Gooch yet?

Well done Dublin best team on the day won. Potentially could dominate the game for the next few years. Thought Brogan was immense today along with Philly McMahon. However it's a pity the way Philly has conducted himself in the last 3 matches as he has been fantastic for Dublin. The incidents with O Shea, feigning injury, the continuous harassing off Cooper off the ball (which was eventually punished) and the gouging of Donaghy in the eye should leave him out of the fray for contention for Footballer of the year. Not the standard we should be setting for young footballers.

Gooch has more class on and off the field than anyone walking up those steps today. He'll be back. And schooling defenders for fun in 2016.
Enjoy ur night Philly et al.

Keyboard warriors are out in force already! What did you make of Donaghy?

P.S. I enjoyed reading some of your previous posts, the collection made me laugh.

I though fitzmaurice got things pretty right, as did gavin. Kerry players just were not good enough to make the difference.

How kerry only had once black card though was amazing, nearly every one of them could have got the line for dragging players down. Fitzgerald in particular was at it the whole game.

well done today , normally all the credit go's to yer forwards but the defensive effort today was excellent , every thing that was thrown at them was dealt with quickly , i think also the dubs were playing with a much greater sense of hunger too something that might be hard to replicate maybe this time next year . . . . but that's for another day well done lads,

Sure referees don't like booking Kerry lads. It's hardly a new thing.

Hope you all have a good night lads whatever you get up to.

time to split the county! too much money, home advantage, etc.

seriously though, congrats, far better on the day and should have won by more really. was great to see Kerry not get the penalty near the end after the handy one they got in the Munster final, Karma's a bitch :)

a very poor football season on reflection.
Not one game stands out - especially today.
    Forget and move on.

    Thats a ridiculous statement imo.
The defences didnt actually have much defending or sweeping to do.
I think Dublin could have played without their number 6, definitely for the entire first half and possibly for much of the second.

Kerry played into Dublin and Jim Gavin's hands with their approach.
Talk about helping Dublin to neutralise JOD and gooch.
    Baffling at times.

Off the top of my head.

    Cork v Kerry (first game)
    Westmeath v Meath
    Monaghan v Cavan
    3 All ireland semi finals
    Kildare v Laois (first match)

There were some pretty decent matches in the qualifiers as well

If you look back at previous championship season over the years there probably weren't a huge amount of great games, it's just people have a very nostalgic view of the past. The championship structure completely holds back the amount of entertainment the sport could provide.

Gooch this year looked like a beaten docket. That cruciate seems to have taken a bit more out of him than many thought.

I also think that Fitzmaurice made a big mistake keeping Galvin, Donaghy, Walsh, O'Se, O'Mahony in the squad. They are no longer good enough and the message that is sent is that the players coming up behind are not good enough either.

Fennell, Cahill, Cullen, Nolan, Quinn and Brennan are all gone from the 2011 Dublin winners because better options are available now. Kerry didn't do that after last year.

james mccarthy , philly mcmahon were outstanding , they kept kerry down to
0-08 points over 70 minuets gave them very little scoring opportunities or score able frees , fair enough fitzmorris did get his side of things wrong but even keiran donoughy's introduction didnt faze them , in fact i cant think of one clear ball he was allowed to field , for a guy that normally causes havoc he was kept fairly quiet as was gooch as was JOD regardless of tactics it was'nt just bad tactics that lost it for kerry and i am sure most kerry fans will tell you the same

    Yep I'd agree with that.
Big refresh required now. He should have started this on arrival.
The all-irl win glossed over a lot of shortcomings

Some of the Dublin substitutions were strange enough I thought. The Johnny Cooper one was made before the match I'd say and Jack McCaffrey must have been injured or why did he take him off?

Credit to Gavin and Dublin management for what they got right though - the match-ups. In my opinion of the 14 outfield positions, Dublin won 12 of the personnel duels. I thought Bernard Brogan struggled a bit of Enright although he gave away a needless free to Brogan at the end. Aidan O'Mahony was very solid on Rock/McMenamin and was the only Kerry player to really dominate his direct opponent(s). Darran O'Sullivan was alright when he came on.

It's hard to defend McMahon. He looks to me like he has a bad streak in him and you can judge each incident how you like but in the last 3 games, he's been accused of headbutting, diving and eye-gouging. Some might add sledging in too. He's had a great year and performed the role of auxiliary forward exceptionally well while also getting the better of the likes of Aidan O'Shea and Colm Cooper in one-to-one duels.

Fair play to all the dubs fans that gave those cheeky kerry boggers that were top of the nally a few slaps after the game, giving it large they were saying they'd batter people and then started throwing coins but once they actually got a few digs all **** themselves they did
