everyone posting their bets seems to be on manny but everyone predicting the outcome is saying floyd.

i think floyd will win but want manny to win. sticking money on him makes it that bit more exciting.

Same as I. I'm still unsure about doing a bet. I might just do Manny as that's who I'm rooting for.

    There we have it.

Floyd by decision just went to evens on Boyles.
My €100 is placed already. Get on it!!

Just put 20 quid on @ 12/1 for both fighters to be knocked down.

    Happy enough with that

Great odds for that, but Manny will have to throw the kitchen sink at Floyd because of his granite chin. Worth a few bob though, no doubt about it.

I've gone Manny to win with my pennies
    Rather in hope than expectation

Thinking of sticking a tenner on Floyd by SD, 7/1 on Paddy Power

Just noticed a little opportunity on paddy power. Manny by KO/TKO is 9/2, but Manny to score a knockdown and win is 11/2. Not a boxing expert, so could somebody tell me if a fighter is knocked straight out, does that count as a knockdown and is this as good value as it seems?

Have put €3 on Pacquiao to win in the first 4 rounds at 20/1 on SkyBet - just in case there is a big shock!

If they're knocked out and the referee reaches the count of 10, or else waves his arms before reaching a count of 10 while the fighter is on the ground (technical count out) that will count.

No it's not that amazing value tbh. Floyd on points (now at evens with Boylesports) is the value bet, and imo a Pacquiao win on points without a knockdown is more likely than either of the above results.

Fair enough, you know more than I do about the sport, but if one was dead set on backing Manny, wouldn't a knockout be the way to go from what I've read?

Maybe from what you've read. But in reality what we have is a guy who hasn't stopped anyone in his last 9 fights (Pacquiao) coming up against a guy who is a defensive genius and has a chin of granite (Floyd).

Mayweather has only officially been down once, when he broke his hand and touched the canvas with it against Carlos 'Famoso' Hernandez, unofficially he touched his glove off the canvas after taking a huge shot from Zab Judah, but he wasn't even that hurt.

    Look at this
That's the closest Mayweather has ever been to being stopped and it's against a monster puncher in Shane Mosley. Not only did he take shots that would have ko'ed other men, he recovered from them very quickly, and also showed a fantastic ability to tie the other man up and spoil to his head was clear. After that round he then adjusted to Mosley (who did tire a lot tbf)

Pacquiao could outwork Mayweather, landing combinations and spinning off at angles and winning a decision as a result. He's also a decent puncher despite the fact he hasn't got a knockout in his last 9 fights, but him stopping Mayweather is the least likely result of this fight imo. Not impossible, just very unlikely.

Also just put €3 on Mayweather to win in the first 3 rounds at 40/1 on Bet365, so here's hoping for an early knockout!

Absolutely and booking it this way is the only way to record it also...apparently.

cotd. (Didn't want to quote all that)

Ah right, I'll steer clear of that one then. Great analysis by the way, I've learned so much about the sport just from following and posting in this thread the last few days, so that's a bonus.

Threw very small money on a few crazy bets. Have Mayweather backed at 125/1 to win within 60 seconds, same for Manny at the same odds, just a euro on each. Another one or two 75/1 and 50/1 long shots too. Just a bit of fun.

You seem to be anti Floyd the boxer, which is fine, but why back track?

A Manny win in a close fight is not an impossibility.

I wasn't backtracking dude, just tired. It would take some collating to make make the point.

I don't really mind if I am wrong or right. The fight is here now at long last. Lets just be happy, peace.

I do really hope the result isn't a controversial one though. Anyone know if the 3 knockdown rule is in play???

Two ESPN reporters have had their credentials withdrawn by Mayweather's camp due to covering his history of domestic abuse.

Put a tenner on a draw at 16 to 1.

Nope, only the WBA have the three knockdown rule in place and unification fights take place under the unified rules of boxing.

All title fights in the United States also take place under the unified rules of boxing as a result of each individual state being a member of the Association of Boxing Commissions.

So the following rules are in place:
*The no three-knockdown rule is in effect

*Only the referee can stop the bout

*If there is an accidental headbutt, it will go to the scorecards to determine the winner, if four rounds of a scheduled 12-rounder have been completed.
Otherwise, the bout will be declared no contest.

*A fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round, including the final round.

*A boxer knocked down shall receive a mandatory eight-count
