How people can just go out and abuse and or kill defenseless animals/people/kid's for instance the horse set alight and the man set alight in the phoenix park two very disturbing things i'v heard happen this year but what i don't understand is what go's on in these people's minds when carrying out such an act i understand when things get out of control people tend to do stupid thing's like pull out a gun or a knife and kill someone but things like that can happen very quickly without thinking what your doing it doesn't justify what they did but this is just an example now back to the guy who was burned alive the person responsible for this surely had the time to think about what he was doing and what the outcome would of been and that he would have to live with what he done all his life, it's people like that who fill me with rage, also this story i came across some time back made me feel sick for a few day's it's just so f*cking sad warning tho there are disturbing picture's http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2013-02-19/south-asia/37178835_1_callum-macrae-ltte-sri-lankan

oh and people who think they're witty and funny by posting political or religious figures and dole comment's on threads that have nothing to do with politic's,religion,or the tax payer's money.

Leave Honda 50s alone! Wonderful machines, totally indestructable.

    Things that grind my gears?

People blindly voting FF for decades.

Smoking ban & the way we rolled over for the fanatics & cranks.

Irish language hawks. They should be shot for sport.

I think this is very true. I'd extend it to all people voting for all parties blindly. It annoys me to say people vote FF or whatever because that's what the family always did. While people vote for all parties blindly, FF have a cult following where it is almost a religion!

I happen to have the biggest FF politician at the moment as one of my TDs: Mr Micheal Martin himself. Funnily enough, he also was responsible for bringing in the smoking ban which I also do not agree with. I am new to Cork so cannot comment on what type of a politician he is for his area. But when I lived elsewhere, I never thought much of him and always thought of him as a bit weak and wishy washy. I remember living in Dublin in 2007 and seeing Martin defending Bertie night after night on the telly.

I think people should weigh up who is the best politician to get in. Keep party out of it. There are a lot of poor performers in Irish politics at present in ALL parties. I would have to blame Bertie for making politicians common or garden chancers with not much intelligence but a lot of the 'clever fool' ingredients! Politicians are now hated by and large and politics does not attract talent it would seem. Of course, FF have milked the 'if they're Fianna Fail, that's all that matters' segment of the population and this lead to talentless politicians reaching very high office. Because, as long as they are Fianna Fail, nothing else matters!

I have voted for FF, FG, Labour and assorted indos over the years. As much as possible, based not on party but on how capable the person was. At present in Cork, there seems to be no one to vote for. I lived in Laois until 1999 and then in Dublin until 2009 and Waterford/Dublin from 2009 to early in 2013 and have also seen very poor individuals to choose from across all parties.

As regards the smoking ban: it was a very undemocratic, almost Taliban like decision making exercise. I don't smoke but don't approve of how the rule was brought in. Clearly, it damaged all types of businesses. I mentioned in previous posts about the dangers of a healthocratic dictatorship. Smoking is first targeted, then fat, then alcohol, then carbohydrates, then sugar, then salt, then coffee, etc, etc. All types of restrictions are placed on people's everyday habits and if allowed to go too far, it would not look unlike a Taliban state. Thankfully, we are not anywhere near this at present but there are healthocracy fanatics out there who would like to ban a lot of foods.

The Irish language: I know that in most countries, people are proud of speaking their own native languages. Look at the likes of Czech Republic and Slovakia (both German speaking and part of Austria until 1918. But their languages were revived in around the same time as Irish was in the 1880s or so and the vast majority of both's citizens speak their own language as their primary tongue today and for the last 100+ years). The idea never took root in Ireland for whatever reason. English was accepted by most Irish as a key tongue to expanding trade and it was seen as more benefit to be able to use it. In the 1880s, the language was revived as part of the Gaelic revival movement but mainly was backed by academics and poets but not the majority. When Ireland got independence, I think a whole movement of force feeding us the Irish language and it being associated with the image of Christian Brothers beating people who didn't learn it properly made it hated much more than loved! In general, I think languages are the Achilles heal of the Irish education sector: for some reason, teaching languages is something we are very poor at. French, German and Spanish for example are also taught very poorly. Too much concentration on grammar and not conversation I think is a major issue.

Irish along with Maths consistently tops the list of subjects students love to hate to this day! It is often regarded as useless or of little real value and as a waste of time. And the modern equivalent of the overzealous Christian Brother caricature is the Irish language hawk or Gaelgeoir. Their attitude is that Irish speakers are the only true Irish and that they are superior to the rest of us.

If Irish was taught in a less boring or (in the past) angry way, it may well have been more successful. Even though English remains the most spoken language in Wales, Celtic Welsh is actually embraced and learned by most of the population in a much more sincere way than Irish is here. The best bet for Irish would be to teach it through fun exchanges involving students going to the Gaeltacht for a few weeks in their school term (not in the summer holidays!!) and a possible trip to Scotland's Scots Gaelic speaking regions (virtually, almost the same language). Make Irish more fun is the message. Why Irish remains poorly regarded is thanks to the Gaelgeoirs and the like and their frosty, puritannical, superior attitudes.

Very long story short, we had Horizon tv with UPC. It was a nightmare experience and we couldn't get rid of it fast enough. After multiple problems with getting our account closed and getting rid of it we thought we were finally done. The account was closed a month ago. We have no equipment with them. We checked that our account read closed and had nothing owing on it. This morning my husband noticed they'd taken another months payment.

I'm so fcuking angry right now I could cheerfully throttle someone. Honestly, I'm not a violent woman but at this moment in time I can understand why people loose the plot and shoot someone:mad: Ho, fcuking HO

You are at fault. They hardly broke into your house and took the payment out of your purse. How hard is it to cancel a direct debit or standing order to them with your bank?

The fact that there are so many good music festivals in Europe for many Europeans to look forward to during the summer.

What does Irish music lovers have to look forward to this summer?

    Garth Brooks!

Casual cruelty of all kinds, intransigence, stupidocracy, abusiveness, Thursdays and the plethora of office-based computer programs that seem to ignore everything from program design 101 to customer service 101 and even seem to ignore the golden rule.
