Mayes just isn't good enough. No track record of winning at any serious level. An average manager produces average results. You get what you pay for.

Moyes had no track record before his appointment if that's the case. I thought it was a bizzare appointment. Then I discovered it was ferguson who hand picked him. If Moyes fails, the blame lies squarely at fergusons feet. No one else is to blame, except the owners perhaps who vested so much power in fergusons hands. It's doomed to failure as Moyes will never be given the time ferguson was given. A total bollicks up of the highest order.

In fairness, Fergie hired him. No different than a dodgy signing, the ole Scot has to take a fair share of the blame as Moyes was clearly the wrong choice.

You're quite correct that the squad is capable of competing and also quite correct that Moyes is not a strong enough personality.

I'd say they would have been ignored somehow. Theres room in Europe for one high limit, low margin book that just mimics strong asain lines on high grade events. Pinnacle bet to 102% on soccer, 101.5% on Asian handicaps. Powers bet to 106% on games that apparently "anyone can price" yet won't lay anyone with half a brain (not just powers in fairness, pretty much all Oddschecker bookmakers are the same).

Ah now Richie, an ever so slightly sweeping (& flawed) comment. Ferguson hand picked him for the role. Its his man. He was never suitable imo & that was also the opinion of plenty of very experienced football people at the time of the appointment.

The midfield was left an utter wreck. The defenece no better. Thats a depleted squad imo. Any team that has to call on the likes of Scholes to put on his boots again to give them a dig out & a 40yr old Giggs to play first team football is depleted. It is what it is I'm afraid. I just fear that him sitting in the stands watching this train wreck unfold that he'll find some way to skip away and avoid the blame. Moyes looks like he has aged more than Obama did in his first 100 days....he must have the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was handed an impossible task.

As an aside, what in gods name were you up to in Moyes dressing room..... ?

If you notice though, it's only the arbs with betfair that the big conventional bookies won't lay smart people. When the price is inside the betfair line you can usually get what you want on. Pinnacle in turn, are rarely much different to betfair prices because both are run off asian lines. Pinnacle's a great service and a lot of people are delighted they're there. But theyre basically a way for Europeans to play in the Asian exchange markets. Thus, there's no need for anyone like them because they cover that angle themselves

He won a weak league with Scholes and Giggs playing and RVP on fire and interested in playing for Utd, he also appointed Moyes and you can be sure he would have stayed on if the team was stronger. Also Pellegrini and Mourinho were in their first season and Rodgers had a massive job to do with Liverpool, this explains the yawning gap to second. I would be surprised if these three don't finish at least 5 points better than Citys total for last season.

While Ferguson is not fully responsible to not apportion blame to him is crazy, I would not completely lay the blame at Moyes door either, he clearly had no support in the transfer market and RVP deciding to have a sulk has not helped. Apparently Mignolet and De Gea had more touches in the Liverpool game than RVP did, then he comes out and says he wants to stay after Rooneys contract and like magic he can score goals again, if he didn't have his sulk Utd would be a lot closer to the top.

No matter who is in charge of Utd next year they have an impossible task, Vidic is on his way, Ferdinand and Evra aren't getting any younger, they need a couple of midfielder and without the carrot of Champions and possibly Europa League and the absense of Ferguson and the Glazers in charge they will struggle to get their first choice players.
