I thought that our old mate Rossom might pay us a visit for the week that's in it. No sign of him!

Anyone flown through Terminal 2 this week? Have they had the racing on or will I have to beg?

Took a while but they got it on the 2 TVs in the Slaney Bar before 1.30!

First of all what a festival. Depressed that its over, long year ahead.

But the value of the week is tomorrow in the rugger. Ireland should be 4 to 6 point favorites and I cant believe they are odds against to win tomorrow. I think this is serious value and have had my biggest bet of the year on them both to win outright and +1 on the handicap.
England have had a mare and on top of that they have had a sh*t week with the assistant ref issue and having to apologise over that C*** Jones. They are ravaged by injuries and if Ireland start well I think they could win pulling up.

Yeah, my feelings exactly! Couldn't believe my eyes on Wednesday when I checked BF to find Ireland @ 2.16. I would have put the handicap at Ireland -4. Big bet on Ireland for me with a saver on the draw @ 27. I can just see England (like Wales in '09) having a chance to win or draw the match with the last play of the game!

Just watching some replays of the festival from ITV, their product I have to say is excellent, seem to have had so many angles covered in each days build up

This might be common knowledge to you all here but i have just recently discovered the icon on the left hand side of the irishracing.com website in the racecards section. Its really handy for a quick visual of horses form over different ground , distance and type or race. Finding it very handy but maybe you folk on here were aware of this already!:P

Hi I came on here with 1 question now I have 2:)

    1) What icon is that the arrow downwards on racecard and how do you filter runs and distance ?

2)I followed Aidan with Pasttime in the 2.25 at Doncaster yesterday, he said 5 place ladbrokes. So I backed in a ladbrokes shop went in today to collect and they said 4 places so no collection. I am guessing that I did not realize that they were only doing 4 places in the shop but find it annoying that they have one rule for the shop and another for online. Am I correct in this conclusion and is this common.

Lads are always different in the shop than online. Paddy Power are usually the same with the extra places etc.

Sometimes they don't even lay certain mkts in shops

Assume it's to stop restricted account holders betting in cash in shops. It's bloody well annoying

Ladbrokes are the absolute worst for this stuff. I went in recently to have a bet on a six nations game. I think it was Wales v England. It was Wales +7 @Evens online. I went into the shop and the market was +6 @10/11. Now i thought maybe it had changed in the time it took me to get in but i checked while i was in the shop and it was still there.
I asked if they could call to check if they would lay the bet and they did but no they were only offering the +6 for me in the shop. It seemed very bizarre to be taking 2 different positions on the same game.
The funniest thing of all is the guy in the shop seemed genuinely shocked when i didnt want to have the bet.

Matchbook podcast tipped over 52.5 on a 6 nations game. Ladbrokes were 10/11 over 50.5. Nice, so I went to one of their shops. They weren't offering the market in the shops FFS

Like you the girl I spoke with seemed surprised I didn't just bet on another market

Yes the shop staff seemed to have absolutely no training these days they are just robots taking bets. No fault of their own that is, and not meant as a gripe to anyone working there. They should be trained to at least understand what punters are looking for.

I still dont understand the logic in taking 2 different positions in a betting market. There is a massive difference in setting the line at 7 and 6.

(I actually cant remember if that was the game thinking back on it. But the 6 vs 7 was definitely the case.)

They have less control over bets plaed pohysically in a shop, online they can restrict or close unwanted accounts.

That and of course a little like the banks etc. they dont want you in their shops, they want as many people using their services online as possible, less overheads and more control.

This is a tricky one and a bit of a catch 22 for them, they want staff who understand the customers needs, types of bets, rules etc. but they dont want to employ people who enjoy a flutter themselves, pretty hard to get someone that ticks both of those boxes to be fair.

I get this and understand what you mean. But for that i would think that they would decrease the odds. Make it 10/11 rather than evens.

However having a different line is nonsensical. They are basically betting against themselves and not in a good way. Its effectively like they are running separate businesses which is fine if they are but you would think their would be some correlation.

It would be grand using their online service if they actually allowed you have a bet. But that's another story.

Isnt that what they did? Now I'm confused :D My thinking has always been that the best prices/offers etc are online as thats firstly where they want business and secondly as they have more control over who bets and what they bet.

Yes they decreased the odds and also moved the line by a point. They were betting 2 different lines at the same time. I mean ok if you take a pile of bets at +7 you move it to +6 but why would you have a market going on both at the same time? As the main line(I know they offer a bunch of h/c options but i am talking just the main h/c line here).

**Moving the line was my main gripe here. I could of handled if they took a shade off the odds however unhappy i would have been about it.
