Sorry I didn't. Have you tried googling for one? Things like this usually turn up on map my ride etc.

Ya nothing up there yet. But I am trying to work out a power pacing strategy. I actually will be able to figure it out from the 70.3 course. The decent being so long is what I am trying to account for and how much off a power drop off. Good videos of the decent on youtube. Should be fun. Will need to have a look at the carbon brake pads for sure. Being that late in the race be a dangerous spot

from airport to the accommodation whats your plan?

Arrive 20th leave 30th. Rent a car and stay at Pollentia club resort.
Going to cycle the hilly section on the Sunday to practise the decents.

Not sure what else to do, probably just relax. Obviously the Ironman expo and opening evening will be interesting.

It's only after reading this thread that I realised I booked my 2 weeks holiday in Port alcudia with the ironman smack bang in the middle!

Looking forward to the show now more than the holiday! ðŸ˜

Ask me in 2 weeks after last build block is completed. And if I get through Kenmare on "unfresh" legs!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,121 ✭✭✭Fazz

    Well that's it then!

All the work is now done, it's a case of tapering and freshening up to be at best fitness for race day now.

I can officially say I'm now looking forward to race day, the last few weeks flew by can't believe I'm now in taper!

    Everyone else ready?

    Is that confirmed?

I've had a water temp confirmation of 26.5 from an athlete over there. Not even close to wetsuit allowed. Good luck with that :)

Right so who have we to track?
I see Fazz is out of the water in 01:01:30, trinewbie 00:57:45, zico 01:03:05

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,377 Mod ✭✭✭✭pgibbo

    Ross McLynn out in 55
    Colm Casey out in 56
    Conor Maloney out in 1:02

I also spotted that Eimear Mullen was out in 55. I didn't realise she was racing

Fast swim times considering it's non-wetsuit. Fair play folks

    Fazz - 1:01
    Zico - 1:03

I think the lads will be happy with that start.

For skins? Those times look very fast.

"Eimear Mullan has made a great move on the first 30 km - she started the bike 5:58 behind, now she is at 4:43 in 6th overall"

Jesus zico. Such a sh*t swim.

Three sub 60 swims there with wetsuits I'd say nice work lads!

And now I know who trinewbie is...wondered why no one mentioned he was racing when I saw his name on the startlist!

All three through 113k on the bike Fazz 4:02:07 race time, trinewbie 3:56, zico 4:01:58
Anyone know if there was waves? Did Fazz and zico start together? Hope they're not drafting :P

Looks like they're all cruising at the moment. Going off the live coverage I think it was a mass start.

Eimear off the bike in 5.13. Wow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,830 ✭✭✭catweazle

First time in today looking for times and there is a lot of the better Irish athletes in this. Didn't know McAndrew and Pollack were doing this as well

Trinewbie looking good, 5th place off the bike and he is a strong runner

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,361 ✭✭✭Kurt Godel

Eimear Mullen currently 3rd after 12.3k (7:05 total), less than 3 mins behind the leader...

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,888 ✭✭✭Dory Dory

Zico went from 110 in his division after swim to 44 after bike - nice work! The run should be very interesting.

(who is trinewbie? or is that poor manners of me to ask?)

Cut almost a minute into the leader over the last split.
