    Squat; 2.5x
    Bench; 1.48x paused
    Deadlift; 2.55x
    Clean; 1.55x

    ...at most recent maxes.

The relative strength tables are a bit on the low side IMO. Basically elite in all categories and I'm certainly not that.

Besides, relative strength capacity decreases as bodyweight increases!

Can't remember my number will have to dig them up if I can remember what web forum I has posted them on. Long time since I have trained in any serious way. I do remember my chest being particularly weak compared with my deads and especially my squats. Are people posting their 1 rep max. I can't actually remember if I even went for those myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,694 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

Deadlift: 2.29; Squat: 1.54 and finally the bench: 1.00. The best thing about those is that there's plenty of room for improvement.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,783 ✭✭✭RidleyRider

    Bench: 2.78
    Deadlift: 3.91
    Squat: 2.69

Based on all time 1RM. Deadlift 1RM was when I was dead lifting like a twat though.

I'm posting my current 1rm. All times would tell a different story.

It’s looks to the strengths standards from SS presented in an interactive format.
The “strength level” is simply the categories 1-5 (Untrained, Novice, Inter., Adv., Elite).

    Bench 1.33
Squat 1.6 (deload after a v.high 1.9, true max is between the two most likely)
    DL 2.0
    Power Clean 0.9 (triple)
Ah I see, I just took the strength level. Apologies.
Easy mistake, the strength level was the highlighted more. What are BW ratios for other lifts?

They are incredible figures man my god especially your deadlift

Just read through the thread there you took the strength numbers. Nearly done it myself as they are the more important ones according to the big bold writing.

Pay no heed dude, I put down the strength level because I was attracted to the larger bold writing :p

This is me knocking a bit off my previous maxes as I reckon I've lost a small bit of strength due to life stuff.

    Deads 2.26

My maxes 3 months ago @78kg:
    BP: 1.35
    Deadlift: 2.4
    Squat 1.86

Now I just need to get to those levels again (and beyond...)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,793 ✭✭✭gymfreak

Tables like that make me feel depressed that I stopped deadlifting 5kg away from 2.5bw deadlift :( .....prob 5kg away from breaking my spine too :D :P :P

  • Subscribers Posts: 6,408 ✭✭✭conzy

    Bench: 0.91
    Squat: 1.29
    Deadlift: 1.81

Hoping to get those figures to 1,1.5 and 2 over the next few months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,513 ✭✭✭BrianD3

    Bench 112.5 @ 75 = 1.50. Advanced.
    Squat 150 @ 78 = 1.92. Advanced.
    Deadlift (sumo) 280 @ 75 = 3.73. Better than elite.
    Deadlift (conv) 240 @ 75 = 3.20. Better than elite.

All PRs and done in 2013. If I was asked to do these lifts now or in the next week or two I don't think I'd match them, however I wouldn't be a million miles off. In the last two weeks I have done 105 x 2 in the bench, 260 x 2 in the sumo dead and last night did 230 x 2 in the conv. dead.

Re: the definitions, even a 230 kg deadlift at 75 kg would be better than elite according to this - clearly that is not a better than elite lift for a powerlifter. So this calculator must refer to a more general population.

We've had threads before about strength standards and this table was discussed
    http://www.crossfit.com/cf-journal/WLSTANDARDS.pdf

In this you are "untrained" if you can deadlift 62 kg at 75 kg BW and untrained is defined as "the minimum level of strength required to maintain a reasonable quality of life in a sedentary individual". This definition has been demolished here before and rightly so IMO - I'm pretty sure that there are millions of men around the world who can't or haven't deadlifted 62 kg who have a reasonable quality of life.

Another strength standard table is this one from Bryce Lane which has more entertaining definitions.

Above the to weight is the last column is the elite category, not "better than elite" (is that possible?).
The labels are just convent names that Rip picked. People read too much into it so he actually changed that them to Cat. I-V. They were training standards not performance standards. So basically, it doesnt make you an elite lifter, but it might be time to start training like one.

If nothing else, it's an attempt to measure equivalent progress across lifts and bodyweight.
Who ever dreamt up that must be terrible at chins.

The calculator has "better than elite", the SS/crossfit table that I posted doesn't. It looks like the SS table and calculator are different in any case. You need to deadlift 518 pounds (235 kg) at 165 (75 kg) to be "elite" in the table.

Whereas using the calculator you're "better than elite" with 230 kg at 75 kg.

It's good that he changed the categories as the bit I pointed out about reasonable quality of life makes him sound like a zealot.

Here are my Raw ratio's using current raw maxes:

    Squat - 1.88 (Belt n Wraps)
    Bench - 1.2
    Deadlift - 2.26

Lets see in another 10.5 weeks ;-)

Ratio's are sh%te but it's all about the total

It depends what you're training for.

In some cases, relative strength is more important. In others, absolute strength is more important.

    Bench 1.25
    Squat 1.55
    DL 1.76
    Power Clean 1.0

Taking BW of 74kg, which is about average for me over the past year.

Squat and DL should be a lot better, and hopefully will be improving in the immediate future. I haven't tested maxes in ages, but I reckon I'd be there or thereabouts at the moment, an injury has held me back a lot in the past few months, but it looks like I'll be able to make a decent run from now until at least the end of January training-wise, so hopefully the gainz will be gained.

Immediate goals lifting-wise are 2.0 DL and 1.9 Squat.

What height and weight are you - judging by videos I've seen you look at least 120 kg.

I think all sensible strength enthusiasts recognise that fundamentals of biology result in larger lifters lifting more weight but lower ratios of their bodyweight. Ant vs elephant, Lamar Gant vs Andy Bolton deadlift etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 240 ✭✭awesomelakes

    50kg right now

    Squat .80
    Deadlift 1.30
    Benchpress .65

I've got a bit of work to do. :o

I'm 133kg at the moment and I'd like to say 5'10" but more towards 5'9".

And that is why I'll never win best lifter by coefficient. Unless I get as strong as Dave Hoff!!

    Bench 0.86
    squat 1.36
    dead 1.48

Had to figure my 1RM here first http://www.timinvermont.com/fitness/orm.htm

so i dont know if this is accurate in anyway. that link claims my DL 1rm should be 141 kg. I dont think I could lift that, not without kelly brook cheering me on.

Does it tho? I just dont see the point in equipped lifting, i can do x times more with a bench shirt, ok bro why stop there, get a forklift to help you deadlift.

Maybe im being a douche about it but thats my opinion. :pac:

I've never lifted equipped but as a scientician my opinion is this: the gear allows certain mechanical limits to be pushed. The tension curve of an equipped lift and a raw lift as quite different. Mechanically they're different lifts. So, while they're both different types of lifts, they're both valid. I don't see myself lifting equipped but it's no less valid than raw lifting.

They're just very different. When you realise that, you might stop looking down your nose at equipped lifters.
