It depends what you're training for.

In some cases, relative strength is more important. In others, absolute strength is more important.

    Bench 1.25
    Squat 1.55
    DL 1.76
    Power Clean 1.0

Taking BW of 74kg, which is about average for me over the past year.

Squat and DL should be a lot better, and hopefully will be improving in the immediate future. I haven't tested maxes in ages, but I reckon I'd be there or thereabouts at the moment, an injury has held me back a lot in the past few months, but it looks like I'll be able to make a decent run from now until at least the end of January training-wise, so hopefully the gainz will be gained.

Immediate goals lifting-wise are 2.0 DL and 1.9 Squat.

Here are my Raw ratio's using current raw maxes:

    Squat - 1.88 (Belt n Wraps)
    Bench - 1.2
    Deadlift - 2.26

Lets see in another 10.5 weeks ;-)

Ratio's are sh%te but it's all about the total
What height and weight are you - judging by videos I've seen you look at least 120 kg.

I think all sensible strength enthusiasts recognise that fundamentals of biology result in larger lifters lifting more weight but lower ratios of their bodyweight. Ant vs elephant, Lamar Gant vs Andy Bolton deadlift etc.

    50kg right now

    Squat .80
    Deadlift 1.30
    Benchpress .65

I've got a bit of work to do. :o

Mine are pretty embarrassing - especially my bench :(

Bench press: 0.71 (Haven't tried this in 2 month and believe I can get 0.86)
    Squat: 1.43
    Deadlift: 1.43

I'm 133kg at the moment and I'd like to say 5'10" but more towards 5'9".

And that is why I'll never win best lifter by coefficient. Unless I get as strong as Dave Hoff!!

    Bench 0.86
    squat 1.36
    dead 1.48

Had to figure my 1RM here first http://www.timinvermont.com/fitness/orm.htm

so i dont know if this is accurate in anyway. that link claims my DL 1rm should be 141 kg. I dont think I could lift that, not without kelly brook cheering me on.

    Bench 1.19
    Squat 1.69
    DL 1.79

None off 1rm testing though, all calced off 5rm

Does it tho? I just dont see the point in equipped lifting, i can do x times more with a bench shirt, ok bro why stop there, get a forklift to help you deadlift.

Maybe im being a douche about it but thats my opinion. :pac:

I've never lifted equipped but as a scientician my opinion is this: the gear allows certain mechanical limits to be pushed. The tension curve of an equipped lift and a raw lift as quite different. Mechanically they're different lifts. So, while they're both different types of lifts, they're both valid. I don't see myself lifting equipped but it's no less valid than raw lifting.

Well i still think you're cool.

I dont like suits, each to their own... im not a strength athlete though maybe if i change paths in the future ill change my mind, they just seem stupid... raw4life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,802 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

They're just very different. When you realise that, you might stop looking down your nose at equipped lifters.

Yah see if you ever used one you'd appreciate it.

If it helps, I don't even consider it like bench pressing anymore.

It's a totally different incomparable lift.

    Lets still be friends.

Raw and equipped are so different like Hanley has said.

Nearly everything is different with the mechanics and technique of the lifts.

People who knock it straight away that have never done it are goons

What kinda kg would a good suit/bench shirt add?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 769 ✭✭✭Da Za

There are so many variables involved so you can't just say they add xxxxkg amount.

    Some of my stats (Current):

    Raw bench 160kg (paused)
    Equipped bench 250kg (In comp)

Raw Squat (Belt n Knee wraps) 240kg
Equipped Squat (Comp) 350kg.....but good for min 380kg

Deadlift (Only pulll Raw) 300kg (Comp)

    I've a 900kg equipped total.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,981 ✭✭✭✭Hanley

    I think I managed to swing a 210kg shirted bench outta a 145kg raw.

And a 310kg squat outta around 240kg in a belt.

If I put the same gear on today, even tho I'm much stronger raw I wouldn't even get close to those numbers.

Because I haven't trained for the requirements equipped lifting demands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,921 ✭✭✭JJayoo

I find it very amusing to watch someone try and get a bench shirt on without any help. The last time I think he ended up being suspended from the smith machine kicking wildly.

As we've discussed my transition back to a raw style of lifting both are so different in reality.

People think that once they through on a shirt it'll immediately add huge amounts to their lift.

This year leading up to worlds, it took a long time, months to get my system prepped for the big weights. Before I couldn't conceive doing doubles in full gear for squats but at that stage I wasn't ready.

Once I go back to equipped it'll take me a while again but I'll have 5 months to get there and ill have such a better foundation.
